Aubrey's Eberron campaign.
Janosz Frogshanks,

Heads 1 avatar

"Um, what?"

Perception 13+15=28.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed,

340 Lukacs-No 9 avatar

Both Janosz and Gil can just about make out movement - some camouflaged tribesmen on the far bank in concealment. They are well-hidden, but the eyes of Gil and Janosz are better.

Janosz Frogshanks,

Heads 1 avatar

"d~@@!~~s. Ezreal, do you have a suitable blasting spell available?"

Sir Rolund ir'Kraal,

Pickguy Final avatar

“You and Gil have sharp eyes, Frogshanks. Now that you’ve pointed them out, I can see them. I suspect they were going to ambush us as we crossed the bridge. We also shouldn’t discount that the bridge may be trapped also,” Rolund whispers his observations.

“Farlowe better take care of them, otherwise it’ll turn into a bout of sniping.”

Jalana
Jalana draws her bow and prepares to fire at the tribesmen should the mage fail to dislodge them.

Runzyl Steelsong,

Angryelf avatar

Runzyl follows Jalana's lead, exchanging Falla Caesenri for his composite longbow, a rare occurrence.

Ezreal Farlowe,

Consortium Agent Final avatar

Ezreal nods, "Oh I can make their day downright miserable from here. We'll probably still have to move in to finish them off. Without pointing, use the bridge anchor on the right or left- whichever is closer and give me an estimate how many feet off and beyond they are."

Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

If the rest of the team is good with nuking them from here: 8d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 3) = 29

Janosz Frogshanks,

Heads 1 avatar

Should we roll Aid Anothers for Ezreal? If so, I got a 7+15=22.

Janosz' face splits into an impish grin. "Sure. See the big tree right off the bridge, the one with all the vines? Right next to it are..."

I was a forward observer back in my army days, so this is strangely familiar ground. ;D

Lightbringer,

Dandy avatar

Lightbringer looks across the ravine Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 chances are he doesn’t see much, sheaths his sword and unlimbers his longbow.

Rodergo Xativa,

TSR 95053-29 avatar

I'll whip out my longbow too, wtf.

Gil,

Shelyn Final avatar

Thinking that the waiting natives are well in hand, Gil suggests, "I could fly the length of the bridge invisibly to check for traps while you deal with the welcoming committee, just in case they were the backup plan for a trapped bridge. What do you think?"

With a look at Rolund, "And don't worry - I have no intention of flying between you and your targets and getting pin-cushioned. Again."

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed,

340 Lukacs-No 9 avatar

Everyone, roll initiative.

Lightbringer,

Dandy avatar

Init: 1d20 ⇒ 5

Runzyl Steelsong,

Angryelf avatar

Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Sir Rolund ir'Kraal,

Pickguy Final avatar

Rolund
Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Jalana
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Wings-of-Silver
Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Basher
Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Sir Rolund ir'Kraal,

Pickguy Final avatar

While everybody was unlimbering their bows, Rolund was readying his shield. Long distance combat was never his main strength.

Ezreal Farlowe,

Consortium Agent Final avatar

Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Janosz Frogshanks,

Heads 1 avatar

Initiative 13+6=19. I already have my bow out, as that's how Janosz travels.

Gil,

Shelyn Final avatar

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Janosz Frogshanks,

That gives us this initiative table:

Gil: 23
Janosz: 19+
Jalana: 19
Wings-of-silver: 17
Runzyl: 16+
Rolund: 16
Ezreal: 13+

OK, sorry for being so quiet over the last week or so. Back up to speed, and to celebrate, here is another map. A to S across the top, 1 to 36 down the side.

The bridge runs at I-M/9-28. The river runs A-S/11-26. The track runs as follows: A-I/3-6, I7, J/4-8, K/6-8, L8 and M-S/31-34, M30, L/29-33, K29-31, J29. From A-S/7-10 and A-S/27-30, except where these squares are crossed by the track or the bridge, this is sufficiently steep terrain that it requires a Climb check (DC 5 as there is lots to hold on to) to traverse and offers cover (but only if you are actually in it). Any other areas, other than the track, river or bridge, are difficult terrain and likewise provide cover if you are in them. The river itself is at the bottom if cliffs – it is a 50’ drop off the edge of A-S/10 and A-S/27. The bridge itself is 70’ above the river. To the north and south of the map are cliffs, east and west it continues in similar vein to the squares preceding. As mentioned in the thread above, the bridge is crumbled very overgrown, but passable.

You are on the north side of the bridge – please place yourselves accordingly. You have spotted Seren lurking in the bushes on the other side – there are six you can see, at D31, G31, J31, N30, P30 and S30.

Gil,

Shelyn Final avatar

Hey, welcome back! I will have to digest the map before I place Gil, but should be able to do so around noon today if someone hasn't done it for me. She'll be toward the front as she was studying the bridge and opposite cliff.

Sir Rolund ir'Kraal,

Pickguy Final avatar

Map is done.

Rolund
Rolund is at K6.

Jalana
Jalana is at H6.

Wings-of-Silver

Rodergo Xativa,

Rod's at M9.

Runzyl Steelsong,

Sorry guys, busy couple of days. Unless something comes up, I'll map this in the next ten minutes and place LB.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed,

340 Lukacs-No 9 avatar

No worries - I'm only pushing the pace as I took a couple of "days off" from the game and so we have been standing on this bridge for a week or so.

I9 for LB

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed,

340 Lukacs-No 9 avatar

OK, very slight rewind.

Ezreal raises his hands to begin casting his spell. As he does so, a sudden static charge begins to build up rapidly, causing Gil and Rolund's hair to stand on end. Then two bolts of lightning stab down at the wizard. This clearly acts as a signal, and the tribesmen on the far bank beging to send arrows across the gorge.

Ez, two lots of lightning damage 3d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6) = 13 and 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) = 13, Reflex saves, DC 16, against each for half. You will also need to make a concentration check to continue casting.

Mystery blasters: 23+ (readied action)
Ezreal: 23
Gil: 23-
Janosz: 19+
Jalana: 19
Wings-of-silver: 17
Runzyl: 16+
Rolund: 16
Basher: 13
Lightbringer: 5
Tribesmen: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Rodergo: 3-

Spellcraft check, DC 23:

Spoiler:
Ez was just hit by two Call Lightning spells.

Ezreal Farlowe,

Consortium Agent Final avatar

Mid casting Ezreal, feels the static charge building and leaps to the side avoiding the worst of a freak lightning strike. Sadly, he managed to jump right into a second strike.

Blackened, smoking, and twitching he manages to, force out a few words between clenched teeth, "They... have... priests. Maybe... shamans."

Reflex 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Reflex 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
19 damage (6+13)
Concentration: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 vs DC 33 (10+19+3)
An AP isn't even close to pulling that out, either on the Reflex or the Concentration. Spell Lost.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (20) + 17 = 37

Ezreal Farlowe,

Consortium Agent Final avatar

Ez only took 3 points of real damage btw. False Life soaked the rest

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed,

340 Lukacs-No 9 avatar

False Life - the wizard's best friend (other than his familiar).

Gil.

Ezreal Farlowe,

Consortium Agent Final avatar

I've been doing Concentration wrong. It is CL + mod of your spell casting ability, +6 in this case. So Ez had a 30. With an AP of 1d6 ⇒ 2 that makes 32 for 1 short :( Okay. Carry on.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed,

340 Lukacs-No 9 avatar

Except that 10 + 19 + 3 is 32, not 33.

Ezreal Farlowe,

Consortium Agent Final avatar

Yay math! Alright then! <rubs his hands together and prepares to drop napalm>

Ezreal grits his teeth bringing his body back under control and calls out the final words of his spell. The ball of bat guano rolled in sulfur takes on an incandescent glow and flies across the bridge at massive speed detonating in an enormous explosion of fire rolling across the jungle.

Fireball 8d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1, 6, 3, 4, 1, 6) = 32 Reflex DC 19 for 1/2
Target O/P - 30/31, 20' radius

Gil,

Shelyn Final avatar

"So much for improving my mobility!" Gil changes her plan as the lightning bolts stab out, casting Haste on the group (Ezreal, Lightbringer, Rodergo, Runzyl, Janosz, Rolund, Jalana) and moves back to Basher's side. Sorry, don't have the map on this 'puter - she'll move to J4 if it is available.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed,

340 Lukacs-No 9 avatar

J4 it is.

A globe of fire explodes on the other side of the valley. The undergrowth hisses and curls but the Seren cling on tenaciously. Gil incants an enchantment of speed and withdraws from the front line.

Janosz, Jalana, WoS.

Janosz Frogshanks,

No move. I start firing at the guy in J31 - if he falls, I switch to the the one in N30.

No move. She fires at the same targets as Janosz.

Attack 2 (from Haste): 11+8+1=20, damage 6+1=7.

Perception check to notice any recently revealed spellcasters 13+7=20.

Wings-of-silver launches himself off the ground and dives into the gorge.

Move to R26. He's flying under the bridge, and is 15' under the lip of the gorge.

Perception check to notice anything interesting along the way 14+10=24.

Runzyl's next.

Spoiler:
Knowledge (Nature) check, DC 15.

Is there a rule I'm missing that explains how Wings-of-Silver achieved such a movement when he had 80' of movement, at best, with a double move? Or are you envisioning him moving to R26 but it's going to take him 2 rounds to get there?
