Has anyone tried to use the World of Darkness system for a fantasy game? Between the core rulebook; Armory Reloaded (for medieval weapons and armor); and Witch Finder (for magic), there should be enough for a generic -- and dark -- fantasy rpg.
EDIT: NOT Exalted.

No, no Exalted. I'm envisioning low-level, dark fantasy ala Warhammer (but nastier).

i loved Dark Ages
until my players decided in my vacation abscense to play with a munchkin dungeon master that made their interesting characters into ubermench in a couple of sesions...
so i canceled the Chronicle... their lost... they just played those 2 tiems with them

well, really then you can use anything from nWoD for this, except any Modern Times specific stuff. Are you looking to actually run one? or is this hypothetical?
Another good resource for mWoD Fantasy setting would be, Fall of the Camarilla & Requiem for Rome.
And I think Changeling: The Lost would work well to.

Nastier then Warhammer? Is that even possible? I thought that Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay was a dark and grim as it could get.

I tried this awhile with my fellow gamers and although it worked just fine it was met with mixed feelings. Probably because it was very different from dnd and that was what they were all used to. It as a system did just fine though it was decidedly more dangerous and well darker than standard dndish rpg play.

To be honest, I have been toying with the idea myself. The rules do appear to lend themseleves well to it. Agreed, core rulebook and armory good starting points, with Inferno and Antagonists to help with some basic ideas on demons and undead horrors (not including the likes of vampires), and then I would use Second Sight for magic and (if required) psychics. (I had not considered using Witch Finders).
And agreed about the game being a lot darker.

Sorry I screwed up and hit the wrong button.
Actually I ran a d&d game using the old Werewolf: the Apocalypse 2nd edition rules to convert the original 3rd edition d&d players guide.It was surprisingly easy. Rage for Barbarians, Feats and wizard magic were covered by using the werewolf gift rules and clerical spells became werewolf Rites. Converting monsters was a breeze, I could convert anything from my 1st & 2nd edition d&d games to both GURPs & World of Darkness in about 15 minutes as opposed to at least an hour to convert anything to d20.
I wrote it down in two small blank books and maybe someday I will type it out probably tweaked into my own homemade system.

I've posted this thread many times on the WOD site and it
always comes down to the difficult task to make one thing
just as even as another. Using the rules as is, how does one
make playing a rogueish caracter even with a spellcaster?

It may not be exactly what you want, but Monte Cook's WoD takes the newish WoD over to D20, and could easily drop the postapocalyptic backstory for fantasy. I just did a podcast review of it over at http://darkerdays.podbean.com/.
It should be dropping today or tomorrow, I think.

Depends on how crazy you want to get with everything. Are we talking all the players being humans, dealing with various supernatural horrors? Or are they going to have acess to some supernatural stuff themselves?
I've been thinking of running a hunter chronicle for a while where the group is investigating various supernatural stuff, trying to figure out what's real and what's fake (the group getting access to their own supernatural powers later in the game). Though I've been planning on running it in modern times...it could be a neat twist to run it in a sword and sorcery type fantasy setting...though much less sorcery than normal.
