Gen Con Event Listing wrote:
Title: Pathfinder Sneak Preview: Ascension of the Drow
Event Description: Deep within Golarion’s Dark Lands, the sprawling drow city of Deraktinus is consumed by shadowy conspiracies as its noble houses war for the city’s dominance. Take on the role of a noble drow in a deadly game against the other players. Decide the destiny of Deraktinus in this exclusive preview event for Pathfinder’s Second Darkness AP. If your noble house takes control, your evil exploits will be immortalized forever in Pathfinder #16.
Could we get some more information about the structure of this event?
Is this a Pathfinder Society event? or just intro to Pathfinder rules and setting?
I assume the latter and that characters are provided. But there's just not enough substance there for me to sign up for it without knowing a bit more.
My son and I are already registered for all 4 Pathfinder Society Scenarios at Gen Con.

I'm with you. I am so hyped about Pathfinder Society, and to miss its launch is a huge bummer. As long as I can get all but the Ascension of the Drow to run with my local gaming group I won't be too sad, but this sounds like an incredible adventure, so I will always feel that I missed out on it.

Whereas I don't know much about the story, i expect to be one of the DM's in this event. I have been told that it will be this year's Hellfire. Which was an awesome event Nick ran last year where groups of pcs battled demons, gods and each other to survive an apocolpyse. From the description I am betting that this event could very well have similiar types of interactions.

My Hope: This event will tie in to the Second Darkness Adventure Path in some way. Since we're still in the process of nailing down that Adventure Path's specifics and proper nouns, we're also not ready to do much in the way of revealing much more info about this event...
But yeah... the comparison to "Hellfire Congress" is pretty apt.

Well, I went ahead and registered both of us for it as I'm sure it will be enjoyable. There was still quite a few slots left, but I did not want to take the chance of it selling out.

I will reveal no proper nouns, but I will tell you that this event is the most intense thing I have ever worked on. I love the Hellfire Congress. This event is even better, more fun to develop, and more complicated.
I hope to see you all there. 126 characters, none repeated. None alike. None with the exact same build or agenda. All unique PCs, built the way you want them by players who love to make badass PCs.
I think the event is sold out already, but at 126 tickets, there's always some poor guy whos mom wouldn't let him out of his basement. Bring your generics and get ready for the best Iron Dungeon Master and Hellfire Congress-type events ever!

There should be a short email to the attendees of this event by end of month that details the structure and what's expected of you.
As I understand it, you just need to show up with some dice and a pencil.
I should also note that this isn't a Pathfinder Society event -- its a Paizo Adventure Path Preview event.

Yeah, when Nick and I wrote Hellfire Congress last year, I thought no one could possibly put more work into an event. Wrong. I've been busy with Sinister things, but keeping an eye from afar on Ancient Sensei and Shane as they (and Nick) do more work than three humans should be able to do...hm Drow. More work than humans should be able to do -- I knew it! They must be demons. Bust out the exorcism kits: Logue, AncientSensei and his familiar Shane must be expunged! Pett, you're with me, right?
Seriously folks, I' ve been peeking under the skirt of this one and boy is it sexy. Hellfire, sure, but improved by all that was learned the first time 'round. Can't wait.

Let's say - just for the sake of discussion, mind you, this isn't any form of admission - that we are in fact ancient Shemhazian Demons who have possessed Sensei, Nick and Shane. You've seen the event in the works, Lou. Do you really want to exorcise us?

If I get exorcised, I get Lou's daughter.

Ancient Sensei and Shane have been TITANS of event preparation too. They are going above and beyond with all the amazing work they are putting into this event! I'm lucky to have such kickass volunteers tearing this baby apart.
Edit: But hey, when you pick an Iron Dungeonmaster winner and his right hand man, you know they'll bring the funk. :-)

If they're bringing in the funk, who's bringing in the noise? ;)

Actually, Shane brings the funk. I bring the noise.
Heavy noise, with alternating 5/8 and 7/8.

Erm....I checked with Shane and myself. It turns out you don't have AN Iron Dungeon Master working for you.
