Okay, so I want to jump into Pathfinder with both feet, but I want to do so through the Pathfinder Society.

Question--as a player who hopes to someday also judge, I want to start building my Pathfinder library.

Outside of the Core Book, where should I go next? And really, I'd be happy with broad products (e.g. Companion). Again, I'm interested specifically in material useful in PFS.

Thanks!

The Pathfinder Society guide v2.0 contains a list of books that have PFS-legal choices in them. I would with the books listed there. :D

Welcome!

Read Chapter 13 in this free PDF. That will give you a good idea where to go.

Specifically, having the campaign setting hardcover is the best place to start (after the RPG Core Rulebook, of course!).

While it's good for a GM to be up with everything his players might have access to, it's also worth pointing out that only the Core Rulebook is assumed by the GM at any table. Therefore, anyone playing a character with traits, feats, equipment, spells, prestige classes etc from any other book is required to have those rules (either the physical product, pdf or photo-copy) with him at the table for the GM to reference if required to make his character legal. Eg, the onus is on the player, not the GM, to have access to these sourcebooks.

Having said that, I like to GM with access to everything too. But as the product list expands month-after-month, this is going to be increasingly difficult to do, unless you're playing from home.

I completely agree with Josh. The Campaign Setting not only got ratcheted my excitement about Golarion up 1000% (conservative estimate, there), it also proves an invaluable references to the locations where various scenarios take place, the different ethnicities and nationalities of the characters, the major deities and organizations, etc.
