Ok, trying to make sure I'm building my 1st level character correctly:
Normally for PFS characters you choose two traits one from your faction, one from the PFS trait guide paizon/traits
I noticed in the PFS guide that they allow the elf traits from "Elfs of Glorian" book.
One trait that caught my attention for elfs was:
New Feat: Additional Traits
You have more traits than normal.
Benefit: You gain two character traits of your choice. These
traits must be chosen from different lists, and cannot be
chosen from lists you have already selected a character trait
from. You must meet any additional qualifications required for
the character traits you choose—for example, this feat cannot
enable you to select an elven character trait if you are a dwarf.
So does that mean that elfs in PFS choose 3 traits:
One for faction:
One for normal: This would be additional traits, so this mean choose two more traits?
Anyone can take the Additional Traits feat. Everyone in PFS gets two traits. If you want to spend your first level feat on Additional Traits (instead of Toughness or Dodge or Weapon Focus or whatever) you can, and then you can pick two more traits from two categories that you didn't use for your two free traits.
I think you're confusing Additional Traits (which is a feat) with a trait. An elf gets the same number of feats as any other race, but they do qualify for racial traits that only elves can take.
So you don't HAVE to take one of your traits from the Faction list then right? You could actually just take two general traits instead, or a general and a racial rather than a faction?

You do not have to take a faction trait. If you choose to do so, it counts as a campaign trait (and they're the only campaign traits legal for use in PFS). You could also take one racial and one regional, or one combat and one magic, or one social and one faith, or whatever combination you want. As long as the traits aren't the same type, and as long as both are allowed in the Guide to PFS, you're golden.
I started to try and correct Yoda when I re-read the 'Allowed For Play' list on page 28 of the Organized Play Guide. I had believed the feat "Additional Traits" was not allowed, but after a careful read I think I've been wrong all along.
"Pathfinder Character Traits Web Enhancement Available at paizo.com/traits; all traits in this document are allowed
except for the following: Adopted, Focused Mind, Hedge Magician,
Magical Knack, Natural-Born Leader, Rich Parents, and Sacred
Touch; Feat: Additional Traits"
I thought that Additional Traits was included with the disallowed traits...but it said the following *traits* were not allowed, nothing was mentioned about feats. Now to eat some humble pie...

That is a little bit confusing.
Don't feel bad Doug Doug, I was about to do the same thing...

Hmm. I'll have to clean that up in 2.1 (something else I'm working on this week) and make that a clearer distinction.

I actually had the reply window open and was typing it when I figured someone else would, as I didn't have the PDF handy

If you look at the layout for this, there is a semi-colon separating the part about traits from the part about feats, the same way different categories are separated for the other source material listed. Now, since there is only one feat listed in the web enhancement, it would have looked silly for them to have it say "all feats allowed", so they just listed the one feat as allowed. That made it all run together and the feat listing looked like it was not something separate from the traits listing.
