Osirion (RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32)

The Subject says it all. I've been unsuccessful in finding the answer, so I decided to ask.

As a Player, I chose the Osirion faction. BUT I don't want every PC I play to be Osirion OR dedicated to helping the Osirion Faction. In fact, the first PC I registered I want to be Andoran or Taldan and help the faction I choice for her. Can I do this without losing my faction-related Prestige Awards or MUST all my PC serve the goals of the Osirion Faction because as a Player I chose to support that faction?

Grand Lodge (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Campaign Setting, Companion, Modules Subscriber)

I am 99% sure that a player's faction has no real bearing whatsoever, and your PCs can be any mix of factions that you want.

The only issue with having multiple active PCs would be slow advancement, as each player can only play each scenario once. However, this would be the same if all your PCs were of the same faction.

You as the player choosing a faction has absolutely no significance. That is solely for messageboard purposes. You do not gain any prestige awards as a player. Only characters gain them.

All that matters is what faction your character chooses. Each individual character may only select one faction.

By the way, I initially registered under my real name, and later created an alias. My character shows its faction, my real name too, but not my alias ? could this be changed ?

Andoran * (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

And what do you do if you entered your faction instead of the character's faction? My leaning is Andoren but my first character is Qadiran. After a home game, the gm noticed that my character is listed as Andoren. Whoops. Is there a way to change this or have I done something truly unfortunate?

Can you tell that I much prefer to look for similar question/discussion to piggyback instead of starting a new thread?

There is no "player faction." You choose factions for your characters, not for yourself. If you've possibly made a mistake during the registration of your character on this website and assigned them the wrong faction, that's something we can fix. Let me know!

I made a mistake during character registration. Renshalla (my 1st character) is supposed to be Qadiran instead of Andoren. JenJen _is_ Andoren, so she's fine.

I've asked Ross to make that change to the database, since I can't make it. Hope this fixes everything!

Ahh, to err is human. She's now showing as Osiran, instead of Qadiran. More likely, something got lost in translation.

I'm sorry to be such a pain. Please change Renshalla Ameina to the Qadiran faction. Thank you.

Oops! I've asked Ross to make the change. Sorry about that.

With the v2.2 rules on replaying (without credit), it's actually required to be of a different faction.

I think you can change your real name as long as you don't have more than 10 posts (as in, change it to Stereofm) - that's what I did. Then the faction will show up.

Not quite. Those people who are stubbornly faction-loyalist can't take advantage of the new rule, but you're allowed to do it.

Of course, you're also allowed to pour melee combat feats onto a 7-str, 7-con wizard if you like. Doesn't make it a good idea.

Can I get my PFS character, Valiant Drovenge, to show up as Cheliax please? I was never given an option when I created him and I figured it would correct itself once prestige was reported for him.

I'm not really sure here, but I know that I have edited my avatar and profile several times, and when I go to my profile (usually by clicking "messageboard settings" on the "My Account" screen), there's also a link that says "edit" ... when I follow it, I can choose a new avatar, faction, or even (on aliases that haven't made ten posts) I can change the name that is shown. There's even links at the top for my character-aliases for my PCs. I can use those to update their profiles as well.

Hope I'm not the only one able to edit my user profile.

[edited for a little clarity]

Everyone can change the name of the PFS character assigned to a PFS number, but the faction is fused to that number whenever it is first selected. That's why people have to ask to have their factions changed, since the user can't do it once it's set.

Go ahead and try to change the faction for Qa'pelos and let us know if you can. You shouldn't be able to. You could change the name to something else, create a new PFS character # and name him Qa'pelos but the original PFS# for Qa'pelos would remain the same faction.

Hmmm ... Well, there's that. I think that for some reason I was just thinking of my "me" profile and not the PFS PCs. I know there's seperate links for them, but I hadn't ever wanted to change who my PCs were loyal to (just their current profile), as I had clicked on Osirion from the beginning, but now I see that if I wanted to change Qa'Pelos, I couldn't. Although, for a good long while I hadn't had an avatar for Qa'Pelos, and I finally got around to making the choice, and it still let me. But, nevertheless ...

So, DougDoug ... thank you for being right, and <blows a big raspberry) for being right, too. :D (J/K) :D I learned something new today, and that's always a good thing.

Oh? I bet I could teach you a lot of new things that aren't good! :)

Should be corrected momentarily.

Cheliax ** (Owner - Enchanted Grounds)

Apparently I messed something up, as well. My second character (Del'lisan) shows up as being Qadiran. She should be Chelaxian. Also, for some reason, the first module she is credited with (one I ran as DM), is showing twice on her page, once with the name of my other character. It does not (and should not) show up on Thieran's page, however. Seeing as you are taking requests for fixing... :-)

Qadira ** (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path, Companion, Modules, Tales Subscriber)

I noticed that my first PC (Angelus - Cheliax) has a session reported as being Taldor. Not sure how this happened, is it possible to get it fixed?

He's apparently waiting while he builds me a tool to make the changes.

*cough* *cough* She's still showing as Osirion instead of Qadiran. My 3rd character is Osirion so this is now a problem.

Cheliax ** (Owner - Enchanted Grounds)

Chiming in, as Del'lisan is still showing as Qadiran (even though I'm positive I reported her last session as Chelaxian)...

Still waiting for the tool. :-) I'll update when I have it.
