Josh, when will we know what games us GMs will be running? I can't buy tickets for a game until I know which ones I am not eating.. *yum, nom, nom.*

Also: can you list the level requirements for the scenarios that don't have pages yet? the Gencon page is blocked from work, and I want to make a few schedules and print them so I can buy tickets quicker when i get home.

23 Tide of Morning 1-5
24 The Decline of Glory 1-7
29 The Devil We Know Part 1: Shipyard Rats 1-7
30 The Devil We Know Part 2: Cassomir's Locker 1-7
31 Sniper in the Deep 5-9
32 Drow of the Darklands Pyramid 7-11

Soonish. I still need volunteers so I'm not yet to a place where I can declare the schedule final.

Gencon rules help?

I am playing pathfinder for the first time at Oasis in Orlando this month. The second time will be at Gencon. What is the deal with continuing our characters?

My understanding is that the beta goes into effect at gencon. That has several changes including Character stats? If I have a 3rd level character starting at gencon do I get to re-stat him? The new rules rock for half-orcs but the old rules suck? do you get to change races and or class too?

thanx

Chris,

You can find the Guide to Pathfinder Society (hereafter "PFS")Organized Play under the Pathfinder Society Scenarios heading or via the PFS page linked on the upper lefthand sidebar on this page. It explains everything. Download it and read through it. If you still have questions, feel free to ask!

To be brief, until GenCon is "Season Zero", a playtest of the organized play system that will almost exclusively use the 3.5 Ed D&D Core Rules & the Guide to PFS Organized Play. The rules for converting your character from 3.5 to the 3.75 Pathfinder RPG have not been released yet. We have an impression your PC will keep only their name and their level, but you can rebuild most everything else.

Just get the Guide to PFS Organized Play. It explains A LOT of what you're asking :)

Josh, when will we be able to purchase the modules for the new season? When they're premiered at GenCon?

They'll go on sale on paizo.com the Monday after Gen Con.

The number of sold out and one-spot-left sessions, this far in advance, blows my mind. This is gonna be a great con!

How many seats were initially available for the seminar on Thursday morning, if you don't mind me asking?

216 but with it being a Thursday morning, character generation/conversion, non-gaming slot I'm not surprised we're only at 50+ sign-ups.

I'm also pretty sure that the Gen Con scenarios will release on August 13, so you'll be able to play the Season 1 scenarios from the moment the book goes on sale.

Wrangling my players is like herding the proverbial cats, meaning I need to start organizing them now for something to happen in August. I assume that the more current quote is probably accurate at this time, but could we get a "for certain" answer about whether the GenCon scenerios will release on 8/13 or 8/17?

These are the two I'm running.

Quick question: What's the official stance on taking generic tickets if a pre-registered player does not show up? I'm assuming that it's no problem for the generic player to join in, but just making sure.

There's no way to sign up for these at this point is there? I just finalized my GenCon plans last week and would love to get in on the PFS games that I'm not running as a volunteer. Do I have to wait until registration opens on Wednesday or just get generic tickets and hope there are still spots left?

I think that you have to wait: I got my badge and tickets in the mail yesterday....

Ticket sales are closed online. You'll need to buy tickets on site for whatever is available.

We take generic ticket holders for slots AFTER we've seated all of the actual ticket holders. We only turned away generics in maybe 2 slots last year.

Glad to hear that news. With work issues being so up and down, my buddy and I held off pre-reg.

Also, I assume you hold table slots for pre-reg no shows for about 15 minutes before giving their seat away to a generic? Or do you hold 'em longer? (expecting your games to be in higher demand this year, 'cause, you know, Pathfinder rocks)

I am so looking forward to this. *fingers crossed that work doesn't interfere at the last minute*

Grand Lodge aka Herald *** (Venture-Captain, Florida—Tampa)

If memory recalls, there is a small amount of overbooking of DMs in case someone calls in sick, can't make it,... ect. I'm certain that one of those DMs will be called upon incase that happens.

Mustering was handled well last year. I'm certain that we will get all of you folks handled.

This year we only have spare GMs in a few slots--we expanded and things got a little tighter.

That said, we seat generics immediately after everyone else is seated. I don't wait for ticket holders--if you're late, you're late and you get seated if there's space remaining. (Typically this means you have a 5-to-10 minute window to be late and still get your seat.)

Tables might be in shorter supply than GMs though.

And since when do you need a "table" to role play? Back in my day we would play on the floor! And we walked there, in the snow, bare-footed, uphill both ways! And we didn't even have dice! We threw small children around instead. Whatever body part they landed on determined our roll!

Kids these days...

Let me go on the record that I am old enough now that I NEED a table and chair.

My knees just aren't what they are any more.

I'll ask here instead of creating a new thread.

Will Pathfinder society faction t-shirts be available at Gencon Indy?

Yes.

Due to time conflicts (and changing my mind) I've decided to sell three of my game tickets. They are:

RPG0904110 #30 The Devil We Know Part 2: Cassomir's Locker - PFRPG 8/13/09, 6:00 pm - $6.00

RPG0904154 #23 Tide of Morning - PFRPG - 8/14/09 @ 1:00 pm - $6.00

RPG0904137 #24 Decline of Glory - PFRPG - 8/14/09 @ 8:00 am - $6.00

(May also sell Betrayal in Absalom on 8/15 @ 6:00 pm - depends on other schedule conflicts).

So...I need advice on how best to do this. My tickets are at Will Call, so I won't get them until I arrive on Wednesday (I assume I can pick them up on Wednesday).
But once I get them, I'll be glad to sell them to whoever wants them.
Thoughts?

hedgeknight wrote:

Thoughts?

If I'm understanding you correctly and you're looking to reimbursed for your ticket cost and you're not looking to make a profit off this sale of your tickets (and I don't think you are).

I'd be more than happy to take those tickets off your hands. I'm going to gen-con this year with some con-newbies who signed up late and don't have any tickets at all yet. Several of them are big PFS and Paizo fans and all of them have been feeling frustrated, afraid all the games they're interested in will be sold out by the time they get tickets. This would be a chance for two of them, at least, to have one game each in which they could definitely play.

I'd be happy to arrange a time to pick them up from you at the con.

Please feel free to email me at mccaul0 at gmail dot com and we'll work out the details.

Thanks so much for offering, they'll be very excited.

I just found out about the conversion seminar at 8:00 on Thursday. Since my schedule is open I'm thinking of showing up (with what, 150 seats open)?

Since the cost is $0, will I need a generic ticket to get in or will you just seat floaters?

It's a free seminar.

Osirion (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game, Campaign Setting, Companion, Modules Subscriber)

The way Gencon runs things, ticket holders are supposed to get seated before folks just walking in. You might as well get one, since it's free.
