Josh is it ok if I print up a bunch of copies of the Pathfinder Society Guide to hand out to my players at Gen Con UK? Or are you guys bringing some copies to hand out?

I am getting a great deal in printing a bunch of these out... so anyone know the answer to this question? Anyone?..;-)

I will contact Paizo about getting a non-personalised version that can be distributed and having copies available from the main rpg desk but I don't expect to get an answer until after Gen Con Indy.

I took my version to Kinkos for handing out to my group and they wouldn't print it out. I would suggest to Paizo, if they want people to run games, to put a disclaimer somewhere on the first few pages that the document is printable for re-use but not for resale.

Thanks...

Providing free downloads is one of Paizo's biggest marketing tools, as it enables them to increase their mailing list and makes people go to the site and see the other great stuff that they offer. I know some people asked to do the same with the Alpha release and were told that everyone needs their own copy. If someone is planning on playing in PFS, they need to register on the site anyway, and can get the rules then. Anyone who is signing up on the spot at a con would most likely play a pre-gen anyway. I can't see a problem with you taking your printed copy and passing it around the table if people who don't have one want to take a look, but giving them a copy without Paizo getting their information is taking away the company's ability to continue to market to that player.

I disagree...

The rules are the perfect opportunity for Marketing.. but not allowing us to print them up to give to players to read after the game, at conventions makes it really hard to advertise..

I am not going to have the time during the game to let every player read the rules..

I can go over the basics...but having them read the whole thing takes up time.

A printed product in itself is a much better advertising tool then a PDF. A mixture of both maximizes its audience.

Edit: Now if Paizo is going to offer a Bunch of free Printed versions of them at the convention.. That is different.
