Hello all first time poster here i have a question regarding the Pit Fiend entry. I was doing a side by side comarrison of the Moster Manual and Beastiary on several monsters and a odd thing came up.
The pit Fiend in Bestiary has as a spell like ability of Quicked Fireball 3 times a day. It also has Quicked Spell like ability: fireball. Is the quickend Fireball redundent? doesn't the feat allow the pit fiend to use fireball (a at will ability) as a swift action every round?
Not quite. Naturally, the Pit Fiend has fireball a will as a spell like ability.
The generic Pit Fiend also has Quicken Spell-like Ability (fireball), which means he can quicken his fireballs three times a day (the text of the feat specifies that the metamagic effect can be used at most 3 times a day, even if the affected spell-like ability has more uses). This change is reflected in the stat block.
So it isn't redundant: He has quickened fireball 3/day BECAUSE he has the feat, not ON TOP of it.
