Failed tumble = stopped? RSS

If you try to use Acrobatics to move past someone without provoking an AoO and fail, what are the consequences?

a) you continue to move but take an AoO
b) you stop moving and take an AoO

Is the answer different if you are trying to move through an occupied square?

The acrobatics check is to avoid taking an attack of opportunity, so if you fail the roll you will move and suffer the attack (what happens after that depends on the attack of opportunity). Hope that helps. /salute!

...and if you're moving through an occupied square, the creature occupying that square can choose to block your movement, as usual.

That's how I understand the rule, though I don't always enforce it that way.

Deal with failures the way you want to as the DM.

Some fun alternatives
1. you fall flat on your back 5/10/15 feet away in a random direction,
2. you end up face down between the legs of the creature (assuming it has legs)

3. You hit the nearest adjacent wall/PC or NPC...(might lead to interesting grapples) Other PC opposes by str check etc...

4. character is dazed for one round (disoriented) which way is up???
