Elemental Bloodline and spell items

The Bloodline Arcana for a Sorcerer of the Elemental Bloodline states that "Whenever you cast a spell that deals energy damage, you can change the type of damage to match the type of your bloodline. This also changes the spell’s type to match the type of your bloodline."

Can you use this ability when casting from an object (say a wand with a higher-level spell on your spell list : Fireball for a 1st level Sorcerer) ?

What if you are using UMD to cast a spell that is not on your spell list (example : wand of Flame Blade, which is a Druid spell) ?

I believe the answer would be 'no'. The ability states that it has to be when you're casting a spell. However using a wand, scroll, etc, is activating a magic item, not casting a spell. Even staves state that the wielder gets to add their ability modifiers and relavant feats, and get to use their own caster level, but nothing else. As the Bloodline ability is a class feature, it's not included.

I agree about wands not working, but scrolls are a different case. As been shown before scrolls are exactly like casting a spell. So feats like Augment Summoning can be used with scrolls. With that in mind the Elemental bloodline ability could be applied to spells cast from scrolls.

Q: Augment Summoning Feat. If I scribe a summon monster scroll and I cast a spell that I scribed, do my summoned creatures get modified by my characters' Augment Summoning, or do they only affect spells that I cast?
A: (Jason Bulmahn)
Augment Summoning does affect monsters summoned using scrolls. Reference casting scrolls "Determining Effect" portion of the scrolls description. "A spell successfully activated from a scroll works exactly like a spell prepared and cast the normal way."[Source]

+1. This is also how I would adjudicate it based on RAW.
