We are doing our anual D&D fun and crazy weekend and have switched to pathfinder for it.
This year it's Mephits from Pathfinder bestiary as Pc Races + ONE level of a class (even playtest classes would be ok).
Given the Mephits adjusts to attributes (-4 Int, +4 Dex, +2 Str/Con/Chr) a Wizard does not seem viable. Mephits are rather tough and usually can fly and have other nifty abilities that seem to go along well with some classes.
Sooo, what class would you play and why? I am especially interested in you assesment of the PHB2 playtest classes for this.
Magma Mephit Summoner riding a (not-really) Salamander? Meh, without some sort of Natural Bond-like feat, that 1 HD Eidolon is gonna bite it pretty fast. A Mephit Druid, with Natural Bond, on the other hand, could have it's companion keep up a bit better.
Water, Steam, Salt and Ooze Mephits have some of the best SLAs, it seems.
Air, Magma, Fire and Earth have the easiest-to-overcome limitations on their Fast Healing.
I personally like the Steam and Air Mephit, and would combine it with a just about anything. Fly by attack would be my first feat. I would probably go Bard, with stat bonuses for lots of nice stuff you could go fight or cast well.

Thanks for your input.
I am leaning to an Air Mephit Cleric of Shaelyn (favored weapon is Glaive). With reach, Flyby Attack and Wingover will mean some good action.
