Anyone know where the EnWorld thread went about this. I was over there a few mins ago and couldn't find it again. Did they move it or something or am I just blind?

Osirion (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

My first thought was 50,000 also...

I'm thinking they're taking 2500 copies to GenCon.

That just made me remember when Magic:Legends came out, and someone had broken into my FLGS and stole all the boxes...and we ended up getting 1 box rather than the 5 I had pre-ordered...

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber)

I expected nothing less.

Congratulations, guys.

25,000?

25,001?

25,002?

Osirion (Pathfinder Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

I guess one pathfinderillion. I'm not sure how that converts, though.

ps, congrats on the massive success! Glad I had my subscription in long ago; now if only I could get that August shipment notice ...

(RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8)

I guess 50k as well.

Still, it's incredible.

Question. It was pointed out the November printing 'would fix some things we caught' Will the PDF Dled on the 13th have the fixes already there?

We should start shipping out orders today, which will include international customers. Basically, we are looking at how many days the US Postal Service says that it will take to ship to a certain area of the world and then shipping that many days before August 13th. Our goal is for everyone to get them on that day. The reality is that some people might get it a day or two early or a few days late based on the vagaries of shipping through the USPS and through overseas postal services. But we will make our best estimate and should be pretty spot on for most folks.

Remember that the PDF for the core rulebook won't be available for download until August 13th, even if your book ships earlier.

-Lisa

eeek... well APO losses out on this... Postal service is way off about how long it takes to get to us US Military folks over here in Europe... Usually takes about 4-8 weeks, and I know mine has not shipped yet..;-), That is ok I am flying to GenCon from Germany to run for you guys.

No. I remember seeing it last night as well.

Huzzah gang! I expect happy faces at GenCon (one week away)!

Andoran (Paizo Charter Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)

The only number that matters is 3, The one I am getting for GMing at GenCon which will be my autograph copy, the one I will be buying at GenCon, and the one I am getting from my subscription :-)

Me too!, me too! I say 20K.

Very impressive, btw. Congrats!

Can you find it? Did they delete it or something? Cause i couldn't find it, maybe they moved it but I looked around and couldn't find it.

My congratulations Jason.

Sold out BEFORE release date... amazing!

You did a great job with the game. Thanks!

Well, I personally purchased 32,000 copies, so make sure to include those in your calculations...

What time and time zone will the PDF be available for download?

I believe it's been said to be when the book is available for sale at GenCon, but I don't know if that would be 9:00 for the VIG passes, or 10:00 for the general public. If I'm not mistaken, that's Central time.

So:
1600-1700 CET (Central European Time)
1500-1600 GMT (Grenwich Mean Time)
10:00-11:00am EDT (Eastern Daylight-savings Time)
7:00-8:00am PDT (Pacific Daylight-savings Time)
2:00-3:00am Sydney, Australia
1:00-2:00am Seoul, Korea
12:00-1:00am Hong Kong

Well for what it's worth, here's the info from Amazon.com as of the 10a PDT ranking:

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #102 in Books
Popular in these categories:

#1 in Books > Entertainment > Puzzles & Games > Role Playing & Fantasy
#1 in Books > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Gaming

#102 overall in book, and 2 #1 rankings. Looking good.

Yup... we were #97 earlier... sandwiched between "Let the Great World Spin" and "The Power of Now".

Just to add some Amazon UK numbers:

The Core rulebook is Number 766 overall and
3 in Books -> Sports,Hobbies and Games -> Hobbies and Games

and the Bestiary is 3725 overall and 32 in Books -> Sports,Hobbies and Games -> Hobbies and Games

To put this in context:
The number 1 in Books -> ScienceFiction and Fantasy -> Gaming is currently Adventures Vault Book 2 from WoTC and it is 4904 overall.

For a while I was following the Pathfinder sales ranks on Amazon UK - the Rulebook stayed around rank 10000 overall - dipping down to 6000 when I ordered - the Bestiary around 150000 and the best selling one from WoTC tended to be in the 2500-5000 area.

These ranks seem very dependent on recent orders and vary a lot.

Still - getting <1000 is a feat in the UK and the US looks even a lot better. And breaking the 10000 for the bestiary is a feat as well. after all - it isn't available for a while.

This is fantastic news! As others have said, its good to see your hard work and dedication to promoting a quality game turn out! Recession, my ass! ;o)

I shared this news on another website (The Maptools Forums)..

Someone made this remark:

Some Guy Who I don't want to put on the spot wrote:

Warning: Forward information is speculation based on conversations with people involved in the book publishing industry, but are still WAGs...

That said, it's reasonable that it was probably 50,000-100,000 copies... it could have been more... the question is, is this the sell out including the if-we-don't-sell-x-amount-in-preorder-this-last-percentage-of-the-print-won 't-actually-run... If they do things that way, I'm betting it is...

I'm not exactly sure what he means, but I wanted to tell him it's a true blue sell out, in the sense that everybody bought all the copies.. but I guess before I open my mouth, I wanted to ask.

Is he wrong?

Thousands of recently unemployed and many thousands more with cut hours would disagree.

But that just says even more about the awesomness that is Pathfinder.

Exactly. The economy is hitting my family, based in Michigan, very hard. Every member of the family has been laid off at least once or been informed they will no longer have a job in a few months since July last year, when I myself started this sad trend.

But people are still scraping and finding the cash to purchase Paizo products. I and many of my friends back in Michigan still find roleplaying to be a great hobby even in tough times - much of the entertainmentis found in hanging out with your friends and using your imagination to amuse yourself. Paizo products just make it that much more enjoyable to do so.

Gratz! And Thank you!

First thing in the morning, I called my FLGS to make sure my pre-order got in a month back. It did.

... and so I can be happy :D

Seriously great work for you guys. It feels really good to be a part of something like this by just buying the books. Can't imagine the trip you're all having about all the hardwork paying off.

But we've got you in Houston now, so that worked out well. ;-)

I have an old Navy buddy from Detroit who is seriously considering re-enlisting so he can support his family and that's after moving out of Michigan last year as well.

I hear that! 3 of our 8 in our group here in SE MI are laid off. Myself and another buddy are buying an extra book or two for them to share at the table. Paizo goodness for all!

Just found out one of our gaming group got a pre-order from a local gaming shop. I say local, but that's about an hour away since we live in BFE. Hopefully, we get more at GenCon, but I am happy our group will have one copy to use for our campaign.

Yeah, Michigan's been rough for a while, and I saw the way the wind was blowing and got out of the state. I'm trying to get my now unemployed parents to come here too. Two out of their three kids are in Houston, and it's time to get away from those awful winters anyway!

I will happily go to my weekend 4E game with the news. I already converted one friend and he's buying the rule book. We'll see if the others follow suit. :D

I can only hope my FLGS ordered some...

Indiana is Eastern Time, they recently changed to do Daylight Savings. That would make the base time 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM EST. From my memory (And considering my girlfriend is currently in China), Hong Kong is also exactly 12 hours ahead of EST right now. Which would make it 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM for release time.

Glad I pre-ordered but not glad I didnt preorder two like I was going to.

Ohio's trying hard to become the same way. We're at %10 statewide, spiking to %17 in some places. My job's pretty secure *knock on wood* but I still worry every day for myself and my friends.

Cheliax (Pathfinder Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Modules Subscriber)

Congratulations, guys! This is pure WIN!!!

The good news is that the level of initial sales has definitely proven the financial viability of releasing a new fantasy RPG. It's a nice antidote to all of the doomsayers who have been predicting the demise of the tabletop RPG hobby over the next few years. It looks like the right product can still tempt many people to break out their wallets....even in tough economic times. And it pretty much guarantees that Paizo can continue supporting Pathfinder for years to come...

It will be interesting to see how sales hold up after the initial print run - will the Pathfinder RPG continue to attract players, or will the initial surge of interest die down after a while?

I suspect that many casual gamers will watch the level of ongoing support for the Pathfinder RPG before deciding to pick up the core rulebook to check out what all the fuss is about.

Taldor (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

So would now be a good time to talk about expanding and opening up a store on the east coast?

Ohio has gone nuts. Most of my friends are either under threat or have already seen cut hours. I lost my job back in December when the City of Columbus cut the recreation budget and have not found even a nibble since.

But I still felt the need to scrape together money and get the books for my group. I felt they needed that kind of injection of fun in their lives. Especially some of my players have children, a situation I thankfully don't have to worry about.

Of course, I neglected to get a book for myself since I assumed my partner would grab it for me on my birthday. Since the sell out it looks like we might be scrambling around town to find the book. I hope the Armoury will have some in stock that day.

Colorado is only doing slightly better. I work for a non-profit healthcare provider and we have slached all of the budgets to the bone. Between a hiring freeze and no pay raises this year we may get through it without having any lay offs but it is going to be close. It is tough all over and the only thing I am spending money on is Pathfinder books.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I know someone already mentioned it - but this thread is getting post after post after post...

Any ideas on the number of typos/errata issues that will be addressed in the second printing? Will the pdf have these changes made?

I ask becuase if there are a reason amount I'm likely to keep the 1st printing for a "collectors" item and use the pdf until the 2nd printing becomes available

Oh and congrats to the Paizo team, pfRPG does credit to them all!
