There is a literal tear in my eye when I think of how you all must have felt when the sales reached sell out numbers. I hope the joy you must be experiancing lasts long![/b]
There was quite a bit of high-fiving, dancing little jigs, and big grins. :)
Um... will this affect my pre-order from amazon uk?
I am going to repost this here from another thread because it answers yours and many other people's questions:
We shipped quite a few copies to our book distributor who in turn sells to Amazon. We can't control to whom our book distributor sells the copies we send them, just like we can't control to whom our hobby game distributors sell their copies. I assume that many of these distributors will have to allocate, but some may fulfill based on who ordered first, etc. Again, we can't control their policies about who gets what part of their ordered filled. I can confirm that we sent a HUGE shipment of books out into distribution, so they will be somewhere to be bought.
I wouldn't have thought so as it's sold out to the distribution channels. I've got to assume that includes Amazon.
Not quite. We are sold out of the copies we send to the distribution channel but they may very well have copies left to sell. Distributors usually order more copies than they have preorders for so that they can pick up sales. How many, I haven't got a clue, but the distributors might have unsold copies still and I almost guarantee that retailers have ordered and unsold copies. But I don't think that will hold for long. :)
Has the shipping of preorders/subscription copies started already? When do you think will you be done with everything? With just the international stuff.
We should start shipping out orders today, which will include international customers. Basically, we are looking at how many days the US Postal Service says that it will take to ship to a certain area of the world and then shipping that many days before August 13th. Our goal is for everyone to get them on that day. The reality is that some people might get it a day or two early or a few days late based on the vagaries of shipping through the USPS and through overseas postal services. But we will make our best estimate and should be pretty spot on for most folks.
Remember that the PDF for the core rulebook won't be available for download until August 13th, even if your book ships earlier.

Congratulations, guys, I am so very excited for you!
I just realized something. In another thread, the question was asked what would you do when you get your copy of PFRPG. Well, this is going to make my happy dance even more disturbing to my neighbors, since I subscribed & will be getting my copy. Being sold out makes it even more special. Damn, I'm in trouble. :D Might be in the funny farm for my antics a long time indeed.
I hope my FLGS actually ordered my preorder when I placed it few months ago (I preordered three from them). I am really looking forward to sitting down with this book, and even more so to running the system.
K I just got the email about it and all I can say is WOW!
With just under 2 weeks left and to be sold out of the 1st print run already is absolutely incredible!
I recomend that the entire staff of Paizo head on out tonight and celebrate. Well done to you all! You all must be very proud!
Ive just recently returned to the world of DnD. I came back to 4th edition and it felt like I was playing a video game instead of DnD. My local game store said I should check into Pathfinder. I did and fell in love. Everything about it reminds me of the good times I had playing DnD from the red box up to 3.0. I am very happy to hear that your first print run has sold out. That is amazing for both you and us. I cant wait to see where you guys take this wonderful work. Keep up the fantastic work and thank you for keeping me broke :)

Does that mean there isn't a purpose to having the faster shipping rates selected for this first book? (2nd day air, next day air, or priority mail) since everything will be aimed to arrive at the same time?

Congrats to all at Paizo!!! You all deserve it. It's great to see a group that is so customer oriented as your team is get the credit it so rightfully deserves.
On top of that, this is great news that nothing should keep us from getting even more of what we all crave.
I can't thank you all enough for getting me back into the game and getting a bunch of old friends together again at least once a week.

Correct. We have a release date of August 13th for everybody, including ourselves. The only thing that faster shipping methods might help with is reliability. You know what they say, "When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight!" The faster services almost without fail deliver a box in the time they say they will. Other services give an estimate which could be way off (we have had folks here in Seattle who normally get their shipment the next day take two weeks for the shipment to arrive, but that is an outlier).
At GenCon, we will start selling books on Thursday morning at 10am when the exhibit hall opens.
-Lisa
Will you be selling them at 9 a.m. when the hall opens to the VIG crowd? :)
Yep. I forgot that VIG folks get in an hour early. I think I will be up and pacing around the room by 5 am! :)

Right entry, near the front. *Begins brainstorming plans of distracting long lines of fans with bevy of HAWT gamer chicks, so I can sneak in a buy 2nd copy. Maybe shouting out a Leonard Nimoy sighting. Hmm...discards plan of shouting out 'Company X is having a limited time sale'*
It's been so long (I think I pre-ordered it back when the Campaign Setting and Second Darkness were still shiny and new)! And the day is finally in sight!
Congrats guys! So did you guys spank the 4E release then?
Not sure I would go that far. But I actually expected them to sell out but like beta did. A month or two after release. This is very cool. I do wonder how many was in the print run, my guess is 25k to 50k and I leaning towards 50k. Mostly cause of a few comments made, some of the staff commented many times about the 50k DL's of beta and how they had so many preorders ect. Then add in Erik saying they made a ambitious print run and to me it just suggest they did a 50k print run.

Not to here, alas. UPS normally reschedule my delivery to later than they said, from Paizo.
I note that the product page is still showing the hard copy as available...

Would be very cool if thats true.
My unsubstantiated guess that the Paizo people can't possibly confirm would be 10-15k. Before someone from the staff asks us to stop making unsubstantiated guesses in their show-off thread.
We aren't going to announce the print run. Besides, it is so much fun watching everybody make their guesses and the rationale for why they think that! :)
I will say that some of you are low and some of you are high. :)

FWIW, I could purchase 2 additional VIG companion badges for only about $32(?) dollars over the normal 4-day badge price... wonder if anyone else wants to get in early on Thursday. ;) You know. Just sayin'.
As to the layout, I hope the "whoosh" of people rushing to the Paizo booth doesn't knock anything over in the Art Show area!

I think Paizo did an initial print run of 51,458,692 books. That's my guess. That's ONLY about $500 million in profit (give or take few dozen million). So what island are you buying Lisa?

This is like guessing how many M&Ms are in the glass jar. I suck at that stuff. ;)
The number doesn't matter that much to me. I'm really happy that you guys are blown away by the quick sales. If you've impressed yourselves then that's really telling. See ya at Gen Con, to congratulate you there with more purchases!

Hmmm...must discuss with my buddy at tonite's game when I'm sharing this great news with the other guys at the table.

Can the first person to guess correctly get a free copy?
I only get to go to GenCon for one day, but I definitely know what my first stop needs to be now. I don't think I could stand it if I had to wait until November.

This topic, next to "why Pathfinder RPG is great/sucks", is the hot issue everywhere on the various boards. Let the guessing games begin! ;-)

It's widely known that everything Lisa touches turns to gold. Great business decision on this one too!

You're running out of time. Or already have. It says 6-10 days for priority. And I just know that this one will arrive late. Just know it. ;-)
I bet customs will hold it up or something.

I concur with the 50K estimate and the reasoning behind it. If this is a sound guess that would be one heck of a sales feat in the current economy!
