Maiden anecdote: When my boy was little he was an avid reader. Then when he got to midgrades they developed this Accelerated Reader program at the schools and I watched in horror as it destroyed his will to read. Mid-highschool rolls around and my son was just wrapping up his SOAD phase and wanted a new band. I told him he should try Maiden. He did, he liked it, and to my utter pleasure, I watched him get back into reading again because of all of the literary tie ins to the music. The End =)

An underrated song for me that I've only heard a cover band play live is To Tame A Land. Tons of literary potential there. :D

One of the things I love about Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original, obviously) is that it was so freaky yet almost violence free. Compare it to any bog-standard ultra-violent action movie today and it pales in comparison. Other than the inbred Texan wearing people's skin, that is. Classic movie.

Damnit. It's hard to get in the last word when everyone keeps posting more.

This is really my last post. I mean it. I wash my hands of this thread. You might respond to me, but I won't know because I will never click on this thread again, ever.

I guess the only thing left for us smurfs to do is sweep up all the poop that was trampled through this thread. At least the OP got mostly saved. Too bad his ears are burning in hell, along with the audio regions of the brain, I guess.

So I see bigotry where you see law, and you see bigotry where I see law. I guess to be able to coexist we need then understanding the other person´s point of view, too bad you seem helbent against that.

Well, they probably wouldn't have been shot if they had crossed over legally. Like, you know, through a border crossing. With a Visa. Instead of walking across the river into the US illegally, possibly onto someone's private property where, in Texas, you can shoot trespassers legally (google castle doctrine).

So, let me get this straight, you are angry because criminals are being persecuted for breaking the law? They use facilities that are usually reserved for citizens without having to pay taxes, and you're cool with that?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for equal rights for American citizens. Which they are not. And, by the way, applying for citizenship or a working visa isn't too terribly hard. But then again, if it's worth jumping over the boarder and possibly getting shot for, why don't you take the easier way?

I'll stay out of the main argument, as my feelings have been stated on here before regarding Christianity (not a big fan). But I have to make an observation on the whole $murfization of this thread (and so many others before it).

Isn't doing the "$murf thing" the messageboard equivalent of looking down on two people fighting and taking a piss on them? It seems absurd at the least, and pretty damn rude and arrogant at the worst. It certainly does nothing to cool the emotions of those that are still fighting in your urine downpour down below. Just an observation....

So, I spoke to Sebastian, who has not read this thread and is definitely not me, but he wanted me to tell you all that his post is still the last substantive post of this thread and that you all are stinky stinkertons for all of this thread jacking.

Decrepit DM wrote:

So, in risk of tangenting this thread off to somewhere else, can you explain this one to me...

[Inserting question into Pathfinder to make it semi justified for this board =]

Some famous chef in, Magnimar, got in trouble for saying that a small village to the north, Sandpoint to be precise, had a great "Cat Stew" (Translated).

All manner of people got upset, mainly pet owners, about how this was cruel and how he should be dethroned as a master chef.

I have been a vegetarian since I was eleven, which happens to be close to three decades ago, and I thought this was, ridiculous (not my exact thought but close =).

How can people complain that eating a cat is any less wrong/right then eating a cow or chicken?

At dire threat of double highjacking anyone else enjoy cow and chicken in the day?

I've heard that a vegan DM made a paladin fall for eating meat, because the DM viewed it as evil (not valuing life in all its forms). So yeah there can be some pretty crazy extremes in gaming.

Why the difference in viewpoint, though? Well, cows and chickens are raised mainly to be eaten (or to produce eggs or milk), cats on the other hand, at least in most western cultures are not raised for such. Instead they are usually raised either for companionship or as a pest control.

Ironicly, those that raise cats as pest control (usually rural folk who want to keep the mice out of the grain) tend to be a lot less attached to them. I heard one guy say his father-in-law who is a farmer is going to kill the cats he has when spring hits because he won't need them anymore (mice are a bigger problem during the winter evidently) and doesn't want to feed or care for them and he can always get more when winter comes again. Still since the cats aren't raised specificly as a livestock, they would probably still look down on eating them.

So, cows and chickens are raised as livestock (don't see many people with cows as pets do you) and that is really the only reason why people keep them around. If we weren't eating them, we'd probably have very few around, mostly wild ones on preserves somewhere.

Well, the OP has been trying to get his own thread back on course but people decide to take it off course with all the religion vs. secularism bile and name calling. When people start getting personal and throwing insults and namecalling and other crap, then the smvrfs come out. If people want to sling the fecal diatribe, there's other places for that. One can always start up their own discussion in a separate thread and let the OP have his.

Okay, I have an answer for you.

You aren't going to change someones mind over the interwebs no matter what proof you have or even if you think you are right. Paizo is a place for people to come hang out, talk about Pathfinder, watch the mods be silly and have a wonderful time. Dissing each other over political/religion talks is just plain idiotic. I have great friends who I don't see eye to eye with all the time, but you know what, I still loves 'em.

The "$murf" is used to try an calm down an situation without having to resort to the thread getting shut down or (at worst) people getting banned.

That is all I have to say about it, you won't see me in this thread again.

Good day.

Add me to those who don't understand why it's acceptable. It's like someone jumping in between two people talking and yelling "LALALALALALALALA" while putting his fingers in his ears. Don't like a thread? Don't post in it. Should be a fairly simple rule to follow. See something offensive? Report it and move on.

This. It's pretty hypocritical for those of us who have engaged in a discussion about homosexual civil rights vs. religion in this thread to accuse anybody of threadjackery, since the OP had zilch to do with the 1st topic and was only tangentially related to the 2nd. Hit the little blue 1 at the bottom and scroll all the way up if you can't remember what this thread was originally about.

I posted something to this effect earlier, but it was the last post on a page, so I doubt anybody saw it. Sometimes a thread needs to be jacked. It's the Internet equivalent of a Senate filibuster when the discussion just gets absurd. It's merciful like putting down Ole Yeller.

With that said, SMURF.
