My friends, who missed the pre-order, just got their shipping message this morning (three books total). This Sunday they told me the expected shipping date was the 24th but I figured it wasn't going to happen. Guess we can start using the rules sooner than I thought! :)

Well, I was settling in for November and a second printing, and low and behold, I just got my shipped email from Amazon. And people say fetishistic dancing by the river in the moonlight doesn't work.
Did you have to dance nekid? I might get arrested if I have to dance nekid. Mine hasn't shipped yet but the ship date still says Today.
Find out ahead of time if your local law enforcement still considers you naked if you are caked in various natural pigments.
Has anyone who ordered from one of the european amazon (co.uk, fr, de) gotten any positive news about their order? It's a bit annoying to see amazon.com listing the book as 'in stock' while I haven't even got an estimated shipping date.
Our second copy from Amazon arrived today. In stark contrast to Lisa and Vic lovingly packaging each rulebook in styrofoam corners, Amazon shoved the book into a padded envelope and called it a day.
*sigh*
As expected, all the corners are heavily dinged. This is most definitely our "table" copy. The one from Paizo will be stored safely on a high shelf.

Yep and yep. Not too badly dinged, but noticeable. It surprised me too, as all my other orders from them come in boxes with books wrapped to a board. What the heck, Amazon?

There is a WIDE variation in the quality of Amazon packaging. The best is the shrinkwrapped-to-cardboard-in-a-box variety; then you get in-a-box-but-loose, which can lead to dinged book corners or, in a recent order consisting of ankle weights and a CD, broken plastic cases. The worst is the padded envelope, which is how most of our Paizo books come and doesn't mix well with softcovers; I think it was our Guide to Katapesh that came all bent here recently.
For what it's worth, Amazon has added a Packaging Feedback option on Your Account page. I'm going to go over there and suggest they use something a little sturdier for a 5-pound book next time.

My guess is they are trying to subtly discourage people from using their free shipping option which has been seriously cutting into their profits. First they delay shipping the free stuff for 3-4 days, now they are cutting back on packaging. I wonder what else they are going to cut back on to discourage that option...
I just got an email from them, my copy is getting delayed another 1-2 weeks. I've decided I'm going to just cancel this order and wait until the reprint. I have my primary copy already.

That's odd. I selected the free shipping option and mine arrived in a box and layered with those plastic bubble wraps. I didn't order anything else to accompany it.

FWIW, we're Prime members and get 2-day shipping, so it's not only reserved for Super Saver Shippers. I imagine they are cutting costs in packaging, however.

Yeouch... I could almost understand cutting costs on us freeloaders but spending $80/ year and getting crappy packaging? I think I'd complain about that.

Meh... I've had my revenge. I made them ship a 70-pound lawnmower overnight for $3.99.

Maybe that they where only shipping the one book. I got a book for gradschool shipped before the rest of the order and it came in an envelope (everything else was in a box). I ordered Savage Worlds Explorer's Edition with Pathfinder when I reordered after canceling. I'll let you know how it goes.

Mine has shipped from Amazon and has, as of the latest tracking information, arrived in my home town - which means I'll get it Saturday from my landlord's office or the post office, depending on where they leave it. I hope they don't leave it at my door. At least anyone who would try to steal it would get a hernia.
Super Shipper Savings wasn't a bad deal. 3-4 days of shipping.
Sucks. Amazon.de still doesnt say anything and ordering it from abroad is risdiculously expensive :(
Is it, though?
Take my group's example We're ordering 6 books from Amazon.com (i.e. the US). Total, including shipping, we have to pay what amounts to €160.22. Compare that with 6 books from Amazon.de, which amounts to €190.38 (with free shipping). All assuming, of course, that you order from Germany. Now, I don't know if you'll have to pay an import VAT on top of that (we do, but it's still WAY cheaper than any of the European sellers).
To compare local prices here in Denmark, our order from Amazon will at the most cost us DKK 275.- per book and the cheapest place I've found around here would set us back 400.- a book.
All of this is, of course, because of the fantastic low dollar. ;-)
I've always seen the ad for it when ordering items, but I never really delved deeply into it. What's the cost, terms, and advantage of being a prime member?

Well, if you get it thanks to a family member, it's awesome. But if you have to pay yourself, it's eighty bucks (still? I think.) for a year. You always get two day free shipping on all eligible items (generally, direct from Amazon and no third parties), and 3.99 on one day shipping. It basically means you pay to buy from Amazon more, because you always see that free two day shipping and can't stop yourself.

Well, I ordered from amazon.de, because I thought I'd get the book sooner that way. Now even amazon.fr has it, bu amazon.de is still unable to say when they will get the book ...
At this moment, I'm thinking of cancelling my order and ordering from amazon.com instead.
Mine got shipped on the 24th...and showed up the 25th. This is especially surprising as I was using Super Save Shipping. Corners on mine aren't in horrible shape, but that may be simply due to the distribution center for it apparently being quite close.
Since I used a gift card to pay for it, I only ended up paying $1.34 for it, and essentially got one day shipping. The gift card is the only reason I didn't buy it from Paizo, couldn't have afforded it otherwise.

Thanks for the 4-1-1. Since that's case, it'll only be worthwhile if I have generous family members. ;-)
Anyone receive the book from Amazon yet? I preordered it months ago but no notice of it's mailing and at the website says delivery anticipated in mid-sept?
Mine supposedly left DE for NJ at 230 AM Monday, so it should be in the box today.
Still no news on my copy. But at least I just put on a fresh pair of pants from my cabinet and found a 5 euro note in the pocket.
@Gentle Giant
Well except for myself I only know one person interested in getting the book. And I think neither of us has a credit card, which rules out international amazon orders. And ordering it directly from paizo doubles the price of the book with the shipping cost.
EDIT: I cancelled my amazon.de order now and ordered it from ebay somewhere in the US.
I cancelled my order with amazon.de and ordererd the books from amazon.com, hoping to receive them mid september. On the bright side, it's more than 10 euros cheaper, including expedited international shipping.
I just hope that amazon.de didn't make the same mistake ordering the bestiary.

Me too. I don't want to wait for that an extra month too.

You can use VISA Electron on Amazon.com (I did), those should be obtainable everywhere in Europe (I think), since it's basically just a "glorified" debit card. So even if you can't get a "proper" VISA card, you might still be able to get a VISA Electron card.
I just checked my Amazon order. It was supposed to ship yesterday for my pre-order now it's been shifted to Nov 16 2009 - Jan 7 2010. I'm wondering if this because they ran out books and I'm now waiting for the second print run. I'm so disappointed.... :(

I guess the moral of the story is "pre-order early and pre-order often".
Pre-ordered from Amazon.com to Australia. Arrived yesterday. We have pages 513 to 520 repeated twice. 521 to 536 are missing. 537 to 544 are repeated twice. <sigh>
