I preordered it in mid july from Amazon Germany and no sign of them having sent me a copy. They only say the book'S out of stock. And i'm not happy.

And I was just about to ask if anyone else had ordered from amazon.de. I ordered mine on july 2, but haven't gotten any recent news at all.

Update: I sent another unhappy-gram to them asking what the hold up was. I wanted to know if they had taken orders for more than they were getting or if the distibution was slow or what; and they answered with go look in your account, we have given a new delivery date. The date for expected delivery is now August 27. So lets see, I was told the 16th then the 19th, then the 24th, than the 26.....now the 27th.

Am I as stupid as my avatar depicts? I think I will cancel. I have one on reserve at my FLGS....it was the last one on the shelf. I have to pat cover price, but better then chancing ever getting one from Amazon. I have learned a lesson here.

The delay isn't overselling or trying to deny anyone anything. The delay has come in getting stock from the distributor. I bugged Amazon CS pretty hard yesterday about my order. The supplies hadn't come in yet. CS had to prod other people internally to make things move since they weren't moving smoothly.

I've gotten a revised date now and it's a matter of taking what's coming in and moving it through all of their warehouses before it can be shipped out.

Someone must have lit a fire under Amazon's derriere. I just got an email with an updated delivery date of August 26th.

Me too. I got a couple on order as birthday presents for players. They jumped from estimated shipping date of Sept 8 to Aug 27th. Cool.

I'm hoping my personal two copies arrive today or tomorrow from Paizo, they sent me an e-mail that they shipped last Tuesday, but no joy so far. :(

And I still don't even have an estimated delivery date ...

I just cancelled my pre-order and am gonna go get it from my FLGS on Tuesday. I'd rather support him in his business and spend the extra $20 anyway, especially since the gift card I've got now gets me the Bestiary for free.

Snoring Rock wrote:

I just want to point out that Paizo brought some books back from GenCon and that their order page for books does not list the book as back-ordered. I have heard that there are a few copies in their warehouse so if you want your book in a hurry Maybe try ordering it. Worse case you get a back order notice and can cancel.

Osirion (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Companion Subscriber)

These reasons are EXACTLY why I didn't pre-order through Amazon, and EXACTLY why I didn't order my Earthdawn 3e books through Amazon...

I'm kinda happy that all the FLGS are selling out of their stock, that means they see it as a productive line!!

I wonder if the FLGS remember 4e selling as well, at release...

I lit a pretty big fire yesterday to get this looked into. I want my books!

I bought one copy of through my LGS. I was surprised that they actually had it on the release date (they've let me down in the past). They didn't call me to let me know... but I suspected they would forget so dropped by anyway. Regardless, and more to the point of this thread, I also ordered a backup copy through Amazon.ca. Got an email from them today that my order has been filled and it is shipping today. I'm pretty surprised cause initially they were listing September. And this is the Canadian Amazon site! I've never seen them have something before the US site! So, there are books out there working the way through the Amazon system. I think nobody, not even the Amazon people, can predict when their orders get filled.

Snoring Rock wrote:

Haha, just quoting that because it was so funny!

Add me to the list of people that pre-ordered through Amazon and didn't have a book to show for it. Today I cancelled the 'pre-order' and drove to my FLGS and picked up a copy. It was only an extra $10 from the Amazon price and well worth it.

Like every other retailer out there, it all depends on the suppliers. :/

Paizo has said as long as the add book to cart button is up then they have some left. They brought some back from Gencon so that should add a few more days.

This is why I point and laugh at you all the time on the Necro boards since you told us you order from Amazon.... now if you will excuse me.

*points and laughs at Snore*

DM there is no escaping you. You are stalking me, I know it. I have the last copy at my FLGS on hold and will go pick it up tonight. I am cancelling the Amazon order.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Tales Subscriber)

Also got the aforementioned e-mail and then a couple of hours ago a new one with an August 24th shipping date. We'll see how it pans out, but since it seems Amazon.ca has actually ordered some books I took the liberty of putting in an order from them too. So I'm (im)patiently waiting to see which one of them can fulfill the order first...

This would require me to actually have a FLGS anymore, which I don't, otherwise I would do so. I might be able to order from the local comic book store, but they always seem to be having problems with distribution, so that's kind of iffy. I will try to maintain my patience. I can always start the defenestrations at McKeldin library later, after all.

We ordered from Amazon in early August with 2nd day shipping. The arrival date was set for tomorrow: 8/21. No change this morning so we sent an e-mail to Amazon for a status update. They replied that they are still waiting on their shipment from their distributer.

Canceled the order and have located a single copy each at two different FLGSs. They are holding and I will pick up both tonight.

Lesson Learned.

I did the same last week.

I am so sorry for everyone waiting on Amazon. :(
I would have been in the same boat if my local game store wasn't a smaller one. I didn't have to slay others to get a copy of Pathfinder from it.

I think they said as long as you still get the "add to cart" button in the store, they still have copies. When they run out, the page will change to "backordered" or the like.

This is correct.

There's another batch headed into the US toward the end of the month, I think; Paizo may be taking orders against that, given that their warehouse move will push stuff back anyhow. That batch is for hobby trade, which I guess includes Paizo's own web store.

We had some copies reserved for replacement and such—more than we needed—so that's what we're selling on paizo.com right now; the leftovers from Gen Con will be arriving next week, at which time we'll replenish the replacement copies. That lot will hopefully last us on paizo.com until the reprint arrives.

We do have a small shipment coming from the printer yet—it was our emergency Gen Con backup supply in case that shipment didn't arrive in time—and those copies are already reserved for the hobby trade. The book trade will be waiting for the second printing.

Got one as well. Lucky for me this was just a second copy and I'd also ordered one from Paizo.

At this point I'm wondering if I should hold off for a second printing hopefully with the errata fixied. Any word if this will be the case on a second printing?

I'd doubt it. They thought this first printing was going to last them through the end of '09, so the second printing is probably a rush job, ie little or no time for fixes and edits. (Maybe the stuff they caught for the v1.0 of the errata, but I would doubt it.) That just means the PDF and the PRD will be the only versions with the errata built in.

Third printing, though...

We *ordered* the second print run a couple of weeks ago, but they haven't actually started printing, because they, in turn, had to order more paper from their supplier for us. This means we've had a nice window to make revisions. As you might know, we've already fixed some things in the initial PDF, and we're fixing a few more in a PDF revision this week; all of those fixes will make it into the second printing of the book.

I'm also waiting on Amazon. Aug 24 ship date, they claim.

They always do this, which sucks - but twenty bucks is twenty bucks. It's almost getting the bestiary for free, basically, if you get both from there.

Nameity,

I have one problem with your offer.

You say:

I've upgraded the method of shipment for this order to One-Day Shipping to help make up for the delay. There's no additional charge for this.

But then on my order page, it shows:

Amazon Prime: One-Day Shipping is $3.99 per item

And:

Item(s) Subtotal: $31.49
Shipping & Handling: $3.99
-----
Total Before Tax: $35.48
Estimated Tax: $0.00
-----
Grand Total: $35.48

Had I wanted to pay $3.99 for shipping, I would have upgraded it myself. If you would like to offer me a 'courtesy' please feel free to actually correct my order. I would LOVE to receive my order on the 25th, but not if it means paying more and being told I'm paying the same.

I apologize for the tone of my email, but having already become disillusioned with your company's handling of this order in the first place, your further 'assistance' is rather akin to a slap in the face.

Thanks in advance,
Mikhaila

So i dont have my book yet because it has not yet been released?

I went to the stores yesterday to see if I can grab a copy there and just cancel the order from Amazon. But they said they ran out of stock. So it should have been released already.

I'm still displeased and afraid I will not get my book ever. :(

EDIT:
Okay I also started pestering amazon about it now.

Holy cow folks, I went by my FLGS and they had just one copy left. They originally ordered 10 copies. I asked why they did not order 20 like they did with 4e. They said the book was too pricy at 49.99 and did not think they would sell them all. The shelf has 5 copies of 4e on it. No PFRPG....sold out. They will have to re-order. Gotta love it!

I have players in need of books too, so I am continuing to struggle with Amazon. I may give up the fight and order them here.

This is a real pain....but its good news for Paizo. This is success. I was fortunate enough to meet Lisa, Vic, Jeff, James, and Erik at GenCon. They are great folks that genuinly love the game and are real easy to talk too. Thanks Paizo!

Orders from Amazon are starting to ship out today. Yeah, it's later than originally promised. But it's better than never. Amazon is usually efficient and usually cheap. Sometimes those two happen at the same time, sometimes not. They aren't perfect.

Oh, I had one with me at GenCon. I ordered my group's books on Amazon to save on the price.

Just got my email saying that my third copy has shipped. Got my first two at GenCon, both from judging as I picked up the second one with my credit to give to a friend. I originally ordered the book before I volunteered, but kept it for a second book for myself and in case I wasn't able to judge at the Con.

My Amazon.ca copy shipped on the 19th, arrived today. Preordered it June 11th same day I put my order in at my LGS. Interestingly, the Amazon website still says it hasn't been released. *shrug*

Edit: "today" being the 21st :)

Lucky Canucks. Here in the US, Amazon keeps changing dates...(pushing inexorably towards November?)

update: I got a "your order has been shipped" email from Amazon.com! (preordered right after I saw the "sold out" announcement from paizo)

Depending on the time in transit to Europe, I might get the book fairly soon.

Something might actually be happening at Amazon.com. At least I now have a pending payment for the 24th showing on my card and my order has crossed into "shipping shortly" land on their page. *crosses fingers*
Amazon.ca has put up a tentative shipping date of September 2.

The inventory hit the fulfullment network mid-Wednesday, and now is being pushed across the network. Which is why orders are starting to ship out. I'd expect your orders to ship out well before the current expected dates.

I'd been watching it closely for the last week and pushed CS hard on Wednesday when it didn't switch from pre-order to order now. It's taken time, but there's been much more movement since I last checked Friday.

My order shipped today, August 22nd. United States.

I got the ship notice today. It would have been nice if they shipped a bit sooner, but I'm not surprised that they didn't /shrug What can you do?

Pre-ordered Aug 5th and got the ship notice today (US). They did screw up my 4E pre-order, and after reading the comments here I feared for the worst. Looks like they did okay this time, however.
