As the title says, Looking for Advice on Class selection.

Background: My gaming group has been having a problem meeting for play. Of the six of us, only the GM and I are unmarried and without kids. Now our GM decided we still play as long as 3 of the 5 players can make it, and characters whose players are not there are just kind of in the background and dont effect the game. Even with this, we get alot of canceled games. Now we are in the process of recruiting 3 more players. We will be continuing our RotRL campaign but when the 3 new recruits can make it, we will be be playing a level 1 mod. I believe this is a good idea to get them use to it before rolling up higher level characters to join our current campaign.

So this new game has a possible 8 people showing up (though i doubt this, I expect average of 5.5). Im guessing this Mod will take us to level 4, (thats a guess) then im sure they will join our main campaign.

So knowing this character wont be going far, will be playing with four people that still dont get the combat tactics (one of our current players is still really new and forgets stuff like his 5ft step) and 4 new/green players. So far the party consist of:

New:

Druid w/ Raptor
Sorcerer
Ranger (plans to do archery)
undetermined

Experanced:

Fighter w/Scythe and trip feats (person that missed the most games)
Rogue
Druid w/ Ape
ME

So looking at this i was gonna try out the Summoner but with two druids with Animal campaigns i didn't want slow the game any more. I tossed out cleric (tossed oracle too) cause i'm playing on in the main campaign. Wizard doesn't seem satisfying if i'm stopping at low level, and I don't want to summon monsters and slow down the game. I want something that has fun game play in the lower levels, and probably be able to stand on my own cause i dont see us having much combat tactics to start. I was thinking Monk or Paladin, Any ideas?

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Battles Case, GameMastery Maps Subscriber)

Some thoughts:

Paladin, for melee survivability, offense, and healing
Archery ranger
Combat maneuver focused monk
Support caster/off-healer bard or witch

Is this class going to carry over into the higher level game?

We always had throw away games for new players, new DMs. I ususally would do a true netral druid Kender, to introduce elements other than game mechanics (ie role-play and fun)....

No clue, i would guess its just for them to get a handle on the rules and how everything works. After, we will most likely go back to the main campaign and they will roll up level appropriate characters. The last time the four new players played was 2nd edition i believe.

I'd be inclined to go with a bard. A good support character, mirroring your role supporting them in coming to terms with Pathfinder rules. And by buffing them, you keep the spotlight more on them and off you in combat. Since it's only a low-level PC, have fun with the character background, creating a PC that would be fun to roleplay! Bards are good for that too.
