Thinking of picking up the module of 6 Swords of Sin (hope I got that correct) mostly for the setting. How much fluff does the module include? Worth a purchase just for the setting or am I better going it alone?
It's set in the city of Kaer Maga, a single city in Varisia. Assuming you knew that, this is not a sourcebook on the city. It's got some good tidbits, a very basic overview of the city and a really rough map. It's a great adventure, by the way, but it's not a city sourcebook for Kaer Maga!

The Pathfinder's Journal article 'Hand of the Handless' in Pathfinder #3, (Hook Mountain Massacre) featured Kaer Maga as the location which the explorer was on the streets of on that occasion. It had several side-bars about the city.
But you get more back ground material in the module... right?

There are many hooks in the module, but I think the information specifically on Kaer Maga is 2 or 3 pages at best. If you get this, expect to do a little legwork of your own to flesh out the city.
That said, Kaer Maga is my second favourite fantasy city after Ptolus even with the sparse amount of knowledge given out.
Heh! Duly noted. :) Thanks, folks - if there's ever an opportunity to publish a Kaer Maga book, you can bet I'd be up for writing it.
At the moment, all the information on Kaer Maga that's been published is in Volume 3 of Pathfinder (Hook Mountain Massacre) and Seven Swords of Sin... I'd say that they both have roughly the same amount of info, though I like the way it's presented a bit more in Pathfinder. I tried not to repeat information more than absolutely necessary, so hopefully you'd find it worthwhile to pick up both... D2 has more of a general overview, whereas Pathfinder talks in more depth about the districts and organizations, and features the first real appearance of folks like the troll augurs and the wormfolk.
I have my own sick nutso freaked out plans for Kaer Maga, should they ever come to fruition; they're too raw and basting on the backburner as of yet. Too much still exists in potentia.
But, yeah; I'd grok to a Kaer Maga book.
I find it an intriguing city, and I've barely read the journal and haven't read the adventure yet. Depending on how my group is working at the time, I've been thinking about an excursion there between PF3 and PF4
I don't know whether a full 64 page guide is necessary for Kaer Maga, but if it were included in a Guide to Varisia, or even as one of the 32 page Pathfinder Companions, I could certainly go for that. Granted, if it were a 64-pager, I wouldn't not go for it, but you know what I mean.
Or at the very least a larger Guide to Varisia which could be a much greater expansion of the PF3 article, much like the Campaign Setting is a larger expansion of the Gazetteer.
Even if/when we do a Kaer Maga book (and believe me, hearing what you guys want on these boards goes a long way toward determining what goes on the schedule and how quickly), I'm not sure they'll let me put that one in.
