Hollow's Last Hope 4e
Cheliax Lazaro,

Golemtrio 2 avatar

Here we go. I'll be looking over your characters later tonight.

Feel free to chat, discuss and ask questions.

Humans in the group, Darkmoon Vale's human residents all speak Taldoran. Their accents are clipped and sharp, but nt to the point of sounding angry.

Phrases from the vale.
Cutyard: A tree-felling camp that temporarily houses lumberjacks.
Mudpt: A type of hot spring consisting of bubbling mud.
The Store: Lumbering supplies provided by the Lumber Consortium.
Stoutfolk: What the dwaves of the Fove King Mountains call themselves.
Valer: A human born, raised, and living in Darkmoon Vale.
The Woods: Darkmoon Wood. Vales don't call any other group of trees "the woods".

To be continued...

Clovis Woodsman,

12 Hp Ankhegs Amok Final 1 avatar

Where would Clovis be likely to go to find alternative, non-flammable employment?

He's at least semi-ready to go. I'll take another look tomorrow when I'm a bit more together and check I've got him right. He seems to be a walking disaster area in the making at the moment.

My character is a genasi stormsoul swordmage named Byakuya, alright with you?

Bleach 208 is out.

The local tavern/inn is called the Sitting Duck.

Radavel
Spoiler:

Oooooo... Fitting genasi in is going to be a task. If this is something you're really wanting who am I to say nay.

Perhaps our genasi friend here is a friend of Clovis. Perhaps one day while his mind was wondering Clovis powers released themselves and affected his once human friend making him an genasi. Or if you can think of something better let me know. I you like this idea let me know and I can tell Rev.

Either way you slice it though your character will be heavily distrusted by the people of Falcon's Hallow. On one hand if you were a former human and Valer, they'll be afraid the you may be contagious or worse. If an outsider you'll run into problems for that and being a genasi.

Downloading as I type

Spoiler:
Will bandaging my character much like a leper, lessen the animosity he will earn in a town like Falcon's Hollow... probably not.

I like the idea of tying in my character's origin to the awakening of Clovis' powers. We have to run this by Rev, though.

Gods no... If anything it'll only garner you worse treatment. We are talking about a town full of paranoid and corrupt people. I'll run the idea by Rev

Sidenote, have you seen Chrome Shelled Regios or Kurokami?

Cheliax Radavel (Pathfinder Chronicles Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber),

First time I've heard of these.

For Lazaro

Spoiler:
I might change the name of my character to 'Kidlat' which also means lightning.

Hmm that's a good question and I thing I got an idea... but first

Clovis

Spoiler:

Radavels rolled up a genasi swordmage. Unfortunatly there are no genasi in Golarion. So we came up with an idea, teaming him with you. Perhaps after arriving in Falcon's Hollow he was the only person to befriend you. One thing that will be obvious is that the people of this town hate outsiders.

Sometime after meeting your powers unleashed themselves on the poor the man turing him into the genasi you know today.

As for employment this just came to me the only real job in Falcon's Hollow is to be adventurer, a merchant or work for the Lumber Constorium. But you and Radavel (he wouldn't be welcomed in his previous life as a lummberjack) found something else. While not paying as well you became employed with Quinns Carnival. Owned by the half-elf Namdrin Quinn that sits on the edge of town. After a few months though Namdrin decided to take the carnival back on the road. You both decided to stay and take up adventuring.

Does this sound like a plan to you or perhaps something else? Let me know.

I should have some more info on the Falcon's Hallow in a moment that may help with character building.

Rev Rosey,

Lazaro

Spoiler:

I'll buy that. How about a little more elaboration along these lines?

Clovis and whatever Rad's guy's name is go way back. You know the kind of bickering teenagers do when they're close and have known each other for ever? The accidental turning him into a genasi was the result of a "Nah - course you can't break furniture with your fingers, you're a teeny tiny halfling" conversation. So there's a bit of guilt, but there's also a lot of "Well, you should have believed me, and anyway, you can fly now so what's the big deal? We're both really cool and awesome."

The carnival sounds possible. Nobody in their right mind is going to employ either of them in anything gainful and they'd both more likely want to get their kicks from being teen awesome than respectable. Maybe we do a fireball throwing/lightning lure knife act.

If they're both arrogant as a defense for being chucked out by their families, and keen to show what they can really do, that kind of works. See if Rad is prepared to buy something along those lines or if he wants to go more for angst.

Races in the Vale

Humans: Most come from Chelish Stock, although Ulfen blood is evident
Dwarves: Dwarves have strated a resettlement effort in the towering Five King Mountains (mountain range north of Darkmoon Vale).
While they don;t frequently live in human towns they trade a deal with the town of Olfden (for food and other supplies) and Piren's Bluff (for raw mined ore).
Elves:Before the elfs and eladrin left the world they maintained an embassy in the Darkmoon Woods. When they returned what they found depressed them (The clear cutting of the once sparling and gorgeous forest). Adventurous elves and eladrin came to the vale to work toward reunting the forest and supporting the plight of the fey. Thes goals make elves in the area unpopular with the humans, and even those who don't support or know of the "elf agenda" face prejudice and anger.
Gnome: As former memebers of the Forst World gnomes find the Darkmoon Wood comforting and welcoming. Many serve the Nymph Queen, Syntira as spies, soldiers, alchemist and diplomats. A fair number belong to the Greenfire Circle (a druid circle hoping to find a balance between the fey and the industrious humans) and act as ambassdors between the fey and humans.
Gnomes in the Vale do as they do in other civilized locations: they try desperately (but fail spectacularly) to fit in. They racial oddness and connection with fey makes gnomes a distrusted lot, and their attempts to fit in win them few friends and many enemies.
Half-Elves: Despite the tension between elves and humans, humans find elves breathtakingly beautiful and elves find humans forever intriguing. As a result, every few years, a half-elf is born in the Vale.
Half-Orcs: With an economy based on a laborintensive industry, the strength and toughness of half-orcs make them welcome lummberjacks and security guards.
Halfling: In general halflings are unpopular in Darkmoon Vale, both because they carry the stigma of possibly being ex-slaves of Cheliax and because valers cling to a longheld belief that halflings don't carry their weight. Halflings know they aren't welcome in Darkmoon Vale.

Still more to come... If there's anything in particular you'd like to know just ask.

Spoiler:

Kidlat and Clovis, bringing fiery spectacle to tent near you soon.

How old is Kidlat? Clovis is 18 and as much of an idiot as any 18 year old is. Which is to say, extremely dumb most of the time, but surprisingly on the spot when you least expect it.

Religion is the Vale(converting the 4e gods to Golarion counterparts)

Asmodeus = Asomdeus
Moradin = Droskar, god of toil (mostly an evil twisted version)
Melora = Gozreh, god of farming, hunting, trade and family
Pelor (but shares area of influence with Bahamut) common with = Iomedae, goddess of justice. Her clerics are unwelcome and untrusted in Falcon's Hallow
Avandra (but shares area of influence with Sehanine) = Sarenrae, goddess of art, love and music

The Green Faith: Focuses on communing with natural forces, particular the Five Elements of Green

Kidlat,

Flyinninja avatar

Alright. Just need to finalize the background.

Cheliax Lazaro,

Golemtrio 2 avatar

Looks good Radavel. Where is the damage for your powers at? Also passive perception and insight are missing.

Clovis looks good to go. Your characters by themselves scare me. I think the monsters will go down rather quickly

Damage inserted.

Passive Perception and Insight, considering my awesome Wisdom score are both: 9

Yeah, I decided to try the autobuild feature with the DDI Character Builder, and this is what I got. I decided it might be fun to try, so I'm going to give her a chance.

Cheliax David Fryer,

Okay, in the interest of full disclosure, I am running Hollow's Last Hope for my home group. I'm running it Pathfinder not 4e though. If this is going to be a problem, I will gladly bow out of the game.

Kidlat,

Flyinninja avatar

I'm sure Lazaro has tweaked the module to meet his exacting standard.

Ser Desmoulins,

Elf Invoker, Ser Desmoulins ready to go! I'm going to update my profile with more in depth stats later on tonight

Cheliax Lazaro,

Golemtrio 2 avatar

Tatsu looks great. I find Wolf Pack Tatics very flavorful not only for the character but the role and feelings wolves and other lupine creatures have on people in this area.

Lia shaping up well all that I can tell is missing are your attacks and damage, and your skill modifiers are missing.

No reason to bow out. I trust you all enough to not use that nformation during the game.

I'll be posting some more info soon. Is there anything you all would like to know about Falcon's Hollow, Darkmoon Wood or Darkmoon Vale that would help with your characters and backstories?

Tierren shaping up as well. I'll look it over more once your done.

Falcon's Hallow
Population: 1,400. The people of Falcon's Hallow are mostly humans.
Government: Falcon's Hallow is controlled by Gavel Thuldrin Kreed: As a gavel (local leader) of the Lumber Consortium, the cold and cruel Kreed exerts almost absoulute control over Falcon's Hallow and it's assets.
Magistrate Vamros Harg, town judge and barrister: The attractive halfling dispenses merchant licenses, stamp mining and lumber claims, and judgement over criminal and civil cases. The fact that Harg is firmly in Gavel Thuldrin's pocket is weel known, but is rarely uttered in public.
Sheriff Deldrin Baleson: Deldrin was formerly a lumberjack under Thuldrin's oppressive thumb. One day he refuse to pay an "axe tax" on a lumberaxe he had already bought and paid for. Boss Teedum tried to Deldrin's axe, and the half-elf smashed Teedum's face with the flat of it. As one of the few local to stand up against Kreed and Taedum, he was elected sheriff the following week.
Deldrin is tall for a half-elf. towering over most humans.
Baleson's Deputies: Deldrin's posse included a Greenfire Circle druid, four burly lummberjacks uncowed by the Lumber Consortium, and two former adventures hoping to clean up Falcon's Hollow.
Boss Payden "Pay Day" Teedum: The pug-faced, mashed-nose human thug licking at Thuldrin Kreed's boot. "Pay Day" gets his name from the way he doles out "dues" to anyone who fails to follow "Mista Kreed's" commands fast enough.
Defense: Kreed can easily rally the lummerjacks, bringing 400 burly lummberjacks to it's defense. He could also send for help from the Lumber Consortium resulting in another 140 well-equipped mercenaries.
Inns: Jak'a'Napes; The Rouge Lady
Taverns: The Sitting Duck
Major Guilds: Lumber Consortium, Redrock Guild
Supplies: Goose'n'Gander (local generl store); High Market; Low Market; Roots and Remedies
Temples: Church of Iomedae

Clovis Woodsman wrote:

Because Tatsu is tall and strong and Clovis is small and cute? (or is that crazy? heh,heh ) Once Clovis gets smacked around a bit, he'll change his tune. (I think I am the only healer) and my bonuses will help his aim.

Clovis Woodsman,

12 Hp Ankhegs Amok Final 1 avatar

"Cute?"

Expression of total disgust followed by random sample of some kind of doom based power from finger tips.

"Cool. Cool, tough and generally awesome. Watch your kneecaps."

He's got image problems being titchy, blonde and adorably chubby looking when he'd rather be tall, thin and saturnine. Although since you are the only healer, he'll probably see sense eventually.

"Thumpy? Wanna arm wrestle again? Look - my fingers healed great!"

Tatsu Everheart,

Iomedae Final avatar

"You boys need to calm down" Tatsu says calmly. "I know you're just intimidated by my strength and intelligence, but there is no need to be making threats." She looks at the group so far. "Not bad, we've got range and close combat specialists, some magic, and me. I've already got some ideas about formations....." She laughs to herself. "Excuse me, I am getting ahead of myself. We'll talk about that later."

Cale Noor,

C 3 C Cleric Of Cayden Final avatar

I do wish we had someone trained in traps and locks, though.

Rev Rosey,

17 Iaesha avatar

Clovis can offer a +5 thievery check should the need arise. Maybe Lia would like to consider taking training in that area? It's one of the more bizarre class skills for warlocks.

Cheliax David Fryer,

S 01 Shoanti Versus Ogre HI avatar

Actually I was just sitting here thinking about changing Lia to a rogue. If our illustrious DM has no objection, I think that is what I am going to do.

Lia,

B 6 Daughter Of Urgathoa HI avatar

I give you the new and improved Lia. Completely kitted out to cause massive havok on many levels.

Cale Noor,

C 3 C Cleric Of Cayden Final avatar

Dave, you might want to get rid of the eldritch blast at the top of Lia's profile, otherwise, cool. With Clovis and the Invoker (sorry, can't remember the character's name) we should be good with magical blasters. Tatsu is all about movement and strategy, we should be able to grant you CA quite a bit.

EDIT:
Also you may want to rethink disheartening strike. it is a rattling type attack and you are not trained in intimidate, so you don't get the benefit. I prefer riposte, as it grants you the possibility of two attacks and it has an interrupt, but piercing strike is good, too. (melee vs. ref, which is usually lower than AC) or just switch one of your skills to intimidate.

EDIT AGAIN:
I am a moron. HALF-ELF, of course. good call with the eldritch blast. it should come in handy. the part about disheartening is still true. Also with your Cha, shouldn't you think about Artful Dodger? what's a +1 to SA really going to help? But hey, what do I know, I just trying to help. And being a complete jerk in the process. Sorry. I'll shut up now.

Thanks for the suggestions Cale. I implamented them and they are now in Lia's profile. I thought eldritch blast would be a nice suprise, since most people would not expect it from a rogue, and it fits with my idea of Lia as being a special agent in Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Lia's background is up. Let me know if you want anything else. I took a few liberties in my thinking, mainly that the elves who left Golarian and went to Sovyrian before Starfall are the Eladrian and the ones who stayed behind became the regular elves and the Drow. I also decided, for the sake of my background that Sovyrian is the elven name for the Feywild and that thusly the Queen would be concerned with the possiblity of dark fey in the Vale.

Cheliax Lazaro,

Golemtrio 2 avatar

Well... I... am... done! I hopefullly worked the last kinks out of this thing. While converting a 3.5 module to 4e wasn't that bad, trying to thing what certain items and monster abilities/stats would be in 4e was the worst (I'm looking at you darkmantles).
