I bet that cake is just alternating layers of syrup soaked sponge cake and chocolate mousse inside, but it's still pretty impressive looking. The cakes at the place I work aren't quite as spectacular, but I should take a picture of some of them sometime.
We bought some very nice bread from that cake shop. Had some with a nice stinky cheese for lunch. I was a bit embarrassed on the bus cause I didn't quite realize how stinky that cheese was when I threw it in my bag.

OK, game mechanics question: If I want to cast Silent Image to mess with their line-of-sight, as suggested by our primary mage, would that work? Could I make a "screen" of vines to hamper vision, considering that a suddenly-appearing cliff would probably not be very believable? Or would believability affect the Will saves that much?

It would have to depend on the circumstances. The issue is whether they "interact" (undefined in the rules) with it and then they get a save.

Obscuring Mist might be even better placed above the web. No disbelief there. If it would sink down onto us though, that option is out.

My mistake. Obscuring mist centers on the caster.

Oh, we're good -- I can "web" the entire ravine, I think, with a Silent Image... I have 11 ten-foot cubes' worth of illusion available...
How about a wall across the ravine on the north side to the tree in P2 (3 cubes) and use the other eight to create a "ceiling" over the main part of the party?
Creating a wall or vines that they would have seen previously, that's a problem. But if you are creating magical effects, I can play off of that with my illusions. Or that's my thinking, anyway.

If you do something insubstantial but still vision blocking maybe it will mess with their ability to disbelieve.
Say- liquid inky blackness, smoky tendrils, a thick haze, a massive cloud of flies, something along those lines. If you shot an arrow and it went through something like that, it would be what you expected to begin with.

Anything that they would expect to move in response to the arrow would require my concentration to fake. Oh, duration is based on my concentration, so that might not be a problem, after all - but can I concentrate on one spell and cast another? I don't think so. That's going to prevent me from doing much but keep up the cover for a while. Inky blackness is still my favorite of the suggestions, so I will go with that.

One potential issue with your silent image. You can't actually use it to replicate a darkness spell since that is its own spell (and 2nd level rather than 1st). It isn't actually blocking the light, it only appears to be. So once they step into it and realize something is up they will get to roll a save. But they have to come to us to find out.

I think we're cool. The word "darkness" is merely to illustrate. I'm not trying to mimic a darkness spell. I'm picturing a set of virtual cubes that I've "filled" with smoke that's rolling back and forth. The idea is that as arrows come through, the smoke will "move." If she has to concentrate to keep the spell in effect, anyway, she might as well make it "react" to disturbances. She can drop the concentration when it's time to cast something else and she will have three more rounds of illusion -- it just won't "react". DM's call as to whether it will continue to move or not.

I know I made remarks about Gil leading Basher, but it seems in the game thread that LB has taken charge of our single-minded friend. Unless I hear otherwise, I'm assuming that LB will be giving the charger his orders.

I think its fine for anyone to run him or give him orders. LB just didn't want him charging off recklessly, particularly if these guys turned out to be not attacking us ... now that that danger has passed ...

Something I learned from PFS the other night... Inspire Courage has been switched from a morale to a competence bonus on the Attack and Damage. (Fear and Charm bonus remains morale). That makes Inspire Courage stackable with cleric morale effects now.

By the time I read your post, I had already posted the NPCs' actions. Besides I decided to take advantage of the fact that my character is sandwiched between NPCs in terms of initiative to post their actions

To do dice, you go {dice} 1d20 {/dice}
except with the same bracket things you do spoiler and ooc with in lieu of those squiggly ones I used for the example. Or 1d4, 1d6, 1d100; you can even add your bonuses like 1d20+5 and it'll do that for you.
1d13 ⇒ 12
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
apparently you can make up weird dice as well. 1d452 ⇒ 145

I had a d21 once. But I down down in awe at your d452.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
1d20 + 7 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 - 2 = 18
Good to know. So it handles positive and negative bonuses just fine. Also if you forgot one mod you can go back in and edit it into the dice string. It won't change your roll.
You have to have a space between each number and each + or - though. I think that must have been why it didn't work properly for Mothman before.

Cool - No more crying about IC being down.
Some trials:
1d20 + 5d6 ⇒ (3) + (5, 6, 2, 4, 5) = 25
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Description outside brackets, no spaces
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 Multiple rolls, no spaces
1d20 + 5d6 ⇒ (9) + (4, 5, 5, 2, 2) = 27
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 Description outside brackets, spaces
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 Multiple rolls, spaces

Interesting. When I tried to put the description inside the {dice} brackets, it interpreted it as 5d6. And it doesn't like multiple rolls separated by semi-colons. EDIT: Despite the BBCode instructions to the contrary that I just realized had been updated.

|

OK, maybe this is what's necessary for the multiple rolls:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
EDIT: Yup. Neglected to put a space on either side of the semi-colon in my original test. This is similar enough and yet different enough from FantasyGrounds that I will probably get it wrong - a lot.

I actually feel guilty posting from work.

Well, the only thing I could think is this:
Mothman is in Australia, and he starts posting about the time I come back from work anyway's, so maybe if initiative was modified to where LB and I had the same place in the initiative order right next to eachother by default, at least you wouldn't be waiting all day for one or the other of us to post.
Then if you needed a skill roll or a save for me for something, somebody just phantom roll it so the game's not held up waiting for Rodergo to save from the gorgon's breath weapon or whatever.
That might help out some.
My game; we only seem to go about a round a day of combat anymore anyway, and I just do mob party initiative order, so I don't think it's much of a problem.

|

I'm in much the same boat. I only post from work when 1) I have access to an external hot spot, 2) my personal laptop is at hand, and 3) I'm "at lunch" or otherwise on a break.
Seems that the subject matter of a number of Paizo forums (especially game threads) contains a number of words that trigger our Internet traffic filters. ;-) So I was warned that if they start acting on such information, it would not be good for me to have my browsing showing up on the "connections of interest" list very often.
That's why my posting is somewhat sporadic. Those three factors don't come into alignment every day. Or potentially every week.
