Wellards rescue attempt on RotRL
DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

no Ali your last attack was the surprise round charge this is round one

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Ok, thanks. Just wanted to be sure.

Still in a snarling fury, Ali tries to rip out the goblin leaders throat
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

Ali's jaws chomp on air..in reply the goblin slashes at her with his dogslicer fortunately missing any vital organs or blood vessels[unconfirmed crit 7 damage]

Inakai fries another goblin who miraculously stays on his feet long enough for Romon to put him down.

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Muchorak will attack the Goblin with both blades...

D20 Longsword 10+6= 16, Dmg D8 2+4= 6 and Shortsword 11+6=17, Dmg D6 1+2= 3

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

Muchorak's swords rattle off the Goblins breastplate, Shalelu Grieviously wounds the Lizard and Kallie drops another goblin. Maraks weapon skims past his comrades to inflict a minor bruise on the Chief.

The Lizard attempts to bite Muchorak but fails..the remaining goblins fail miserably in their attacks .

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

Round 2

initiative

Ali 26
Goblin chief 21
Inakai 20
Romon 17
Muchorak 16
Marak 14
Shalelu 13
Kallie 12
Lizard9+
Goblins 9(2 in number)

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

Inikai tries to look at the melee on the throne but his the goblin in his way demands his attention. Again he calls down a stroke of lightning on the psychotic freak.

Romon,

52-Nirmathas-Marshal-Ga avatar

Romon slides along the wall to his left. He targets one of the remaining 2 goblins in the middle, nocks, draws, and fires.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

1d6 ⇒ 2

He's working his way closer to the throne along the upper wall. Within the limits of his movement, I'd like to get him close enough to join the melee next round after a move action.

Marak Quan,

Khalib avatar

Marak notes Shalelu's strong blow against the lizard, and attempts to finish it off for her. Once again, his morningstar surges from his hand with a life of it's own, hurtling across the room as if thrown.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 including +1 for Bless this time
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Snarling savagely, Aliwolf thrusts her jaws at the goblin chieftan's midsection, trying to disembowel him. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

holy craptacular rolls!

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

Ali's jaws scrape across the chiefs breastplate...In return Ripnuggets blow misses her as she dodges aside.Inakai and Romon dispose of the remaining goblins..Murchorak strikes like a panther...his long sword slashin a line across the Goblins face his short swodr sinking bdeep into the chiefs thigh(both weapons hit, Short Sword Crit confirmed..25 damage total)Diced for Muchorak to speed things along..and wish I hadn't]

Inakai blasts another goblin into eternity whilst Romon does a flesh wound on the one remaining warrior...Marak's weapon bounces off the lizards tough skin a reprieve it does not enjoy as Shalelu takes it down.Kallie lets fly with magic at the one goblin in the way and it staggers but does not go down.It aims a feeble blow at Marek and misses completely

Round 3

initiative

Ali 26
Goblin chief 21
Inakai 20
Romon 17
Muchorak 16
Marak 14
Shalelu 13
Kallie 12
Lizard9+
Goblins 9(1 badly wounded left)

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

Why leave a goblin badly wounded when you can leave a goblin dead and smouldering?

"Die already!" Inikai shouts as he pulls another stroke of lightning from the air onto the obstinant goblin.

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Hell you can keep rolling for me with rolls like that!

Marak Quan,

Khalib avatar

Marak ignores the goblin swinging at him (possibly provoking an AoO if it isn't already dead by his action) and sends his morning star hurtling off again, towards the Goblin Chief.

Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Though the fighting is fast and furious, Ali has no thoughts of giving up. This time she darts in low, trying to hamstring the chief with he sharp fangs. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Romon,

52-Nirmathas-Marshal-Ga avatar

Romon's sword slips from its sheath as he continues to move left. He slips in behind the lizard (or the chief, wasn't sure since liz is still on initiative, but Shalelu "took it down" last round) and readies a strike with a self-satisfied smirk on his face. Easy as pie.

His confidence is misplaced however, because he mistimes his thrust and cuts only air.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

my bad..cut and pasted quite late on and missed the fact that the lizard was still on

Ali's teeth close on the heavy leather of the chiefs leg coverings but do not pierce to the skin

The chief slashes at the little wolf and scores another painful strike(7 damage)

Inakai destroys the last goblin as Romon spectacularly fails to backstab the chief.

Muchorak strikes again and once more both weapons strike home though not to the same degree(11 damage)

Maraks weapon bounces off Ripnuggets breastplate(remember its now a ranged attack not a touch and subject to the -4 for shooting into melee)

Shalelu drives an arrow into Ripnuggets shoulder(6 damage)

Kallie hits him with a Magic Missile and the Goblin Warchief goes down at last

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

Time to loot the bodies!

Inikai mutters something under his breath as he checks the bodies of the goblins to make certain they are dead. He says in a low voice: "We must be quick here. The noise may well have alerted others."

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Hey, just curious why, as Ali hardly hit the chief at all while Muchoral Munched him, the chief kept going after the poor little wolf? =D Anyway...

Now that the battle has come to a sudden and violent end, Ali begins licking her many wounds. While she is calmed somewhat by her guess that they have now ended the life of the main one responsible for the horrors committed on her four-leg brothers and sisters, still she is eager for more goblin blood.

Completely uncaring about the possessions of the yucky goblins, Ali moves to the door and begins sniffing for the next group of hated foe. She occasionally looks back over her furred shoulder, impatient to move on.

If anyone is inclined or able to heal Ali, that would be great, but even if not, maybe someone could remind her to use her new 'healy belt' or a potion? For she would probably not think of it on her own.

Marak Quan,

Khalib avatar

Marak's morningstar, after ringing off of the goblin's breastplate with a bell-like clang, soars back into his hand. Looking around, he sees no more foes to fell, and places it in his belt.

"Is anyone badly hurt?" He notices Ali licking her wounds, and gently prompts her, "You have that new magic belt that heals you, Ali, it might be good to test it out and see how it works for you."

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Distracted from her thirst for vengeance for a moment, Aliwolf looks up at Marak with a comical look of surprise on it's face. It seems as if it's about to speak but, with a quick shake of it's head it quickly flows into a wounded but still spry little Gnome who says

"Oh! Yes yes, Ali forget her friends no can understand her when she four legs. And she also forget about new Healy Belt! Thank you Healy man! Ali try it! This fun fun, yes yes!" Her mercurial mood suddenly joyful and curious, Ali quickly gives Marak a hug and then looks down at her belt and sticks out her tongue and closes her eyes in concentration. One eye opens as she gazes down at the belt as nothing seems to happen. Finally, somewhat frustrated, she grabs the belt in both hands, and seems to calm down and look more within as she looks at it. Suddenly, many of her wounds disappear and her mouth forms a cute little 'oh!' as she says "Oh! That easy! Ok, now Ali knows!" as she smiles up at the much taller Marak.

Then, as he gaze falls onto the carnage and horror of the rest of the room, he smile slips away to be replaced once again with the look of savage fury. Her mood completely changed again in the blink of any eye, Ali says with a growl in her voice "Ok. Now time to kill'um more yucky goblins, yes yes." And she flows back again into wolf form.

Healed: 2d8 ⇒ (8, 2) = 10

Thanks Marak! And, actually, now that I've finished writing this, it's occuring to me that Ali may have already used the belt before....but, ah well, it's already written and she's too cute to erase so, I guess I'll leave it as is ;)

Romon,

52-Nirmathas-Marshal-Ga avatar

DM Wellard wrote:
my bad..cut and pasted quite late on and missed the fact that the lizard was still on

I know its not easy. Heavens knows I get things wrong often enough.

Romon quickly scans the walls for doors. Then, keeping half an eye on them, he begins checking the bodies, beginning with the king.

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

"Romon see if you can find any clues about this witch woman." Muchorak flicks the goblin blood from his blades, nodding at Inikai, "Yes, we should move quickly."

Marak Quan,

Khalib avatar

Marak calls upon Nethys to reveal his gifts and looks around the room for the glow of magic. detect magic

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

"How many goblins have we killed so far? I think it is about 15 or more. I think that there are more in this fort than we had estimated."

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

Treasure

From Ripnugget

Masterwork Breastplate (small)

Dogslicer(registers as Magic)

3 potions

A battered gold crown

key ring with 15 keys

From the first goblin Inakai fried

A Wand

Potion

Romon,

52-Nirmathas-Marshal-Ga avatar

Romon sorts through the bodies, starting with Ripnugget. He notes the breastplate. Nice, bit of work that. Maybe fit Ali. Too heavy to carry easily. Someone else can peel it off his lice-infested corpse. The dogslicer he disdains as too crude. The potions he offers to Marak, Inikai and Kallie. They'll figure them out, and they're too square to try to stiff the rest of us. The crown is beaten up, but gold is gold.

"I'll hang onto this and the keys, if that's ok."

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Muchorak nods his agreement to Romon, then; "Are we ready to move?"

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

"Yes, let's get moving. Romon, those keys might be to holding cells so there might be prisoners."

Romon,

52-Nirmathas-Marshal-Ga avatar

And they might be to locks protecting the goblin's loot.

"I imagine they open all sorts of doors, Inikai. Very handy thing to have." Romon looks quickly over the keys, trying to get an impression of general shape, size, and any identifiying marks.

MAP

"Shall we try the other doors here first?"

I suggest working counterclockwise around the room from the doors we came in.

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

"Agreed" Muchorak moves to the first door, "Can you check the door for traps?"

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

Ali moves to whatever door Romon is checking, sniffing to try and see if any Goblins are behind it.

And I guess Kallie is taking the wand?

Marak Quan,

Khalib avatar

Marak makes sure that the items are gathered up, "The chieftan's oversized knife is magical, as are this wand and these four potions."

"I can identify them later, anything heavy can go in the Haversack, if it will fit..."

Romon,

52-Nirmathas-Marshal-Ga avatar

"Aye, Muchorak." Romon drops to one knee in front of the door and pulls out his probes for a quick once-over. He starts by noting if there's a lock on the door and if any keys would be lucky to fit.

Perception to trap find. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

If there is a trap, then trap removal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

I'm loth to give any more to Kallie just now..I seriously think we have lost Val for good and therefore we'll need a replacement afer Thistletop

Romon establishes that the first door does indeed have a lock and finds the key that fits it..it leads to a short corridor that leads to the base of the guard tower you entered first.

The second door has Ali recoiling from it when she sniffs..

Ali

Spoiler:
the strong scent of rotting meat

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

Seeing Wolfspirit recoil, Muchorak tenses readying for something to burst through the door. Seeing nothing burst through the door Muchorak moves to Wolfspirit, "What is it?"

Alisebett,

Paizo PF 7 Living Doll Final avatar

backing away further from the door, the small wolf looks to big bear as if it wants to explain something but can't. Finally, shaking it's head in frustration, it rapidly flows to Gnome form and with a mingled look of disgust and fear on her face, Ali says
"Yucky bad smell! Many days dead things in that place. Ali no want go in."

What's next

Spoiler:

If the party decides to go into the room, Ali, to avoid as much of the smell as possible, will remain in Gnome form and will not enter the room unless absolutely necessary.

If the party decides to continue down the hall, she will flow back to wolf form. Keeping pace with Romon if the rogue is looking for traps.

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

"More walking dead or macabre corpse-trohpies I suspect."

Inikai suddenly remembers his own recent trophy-collecting actions and wishes he had chosen his words more carefully.

"Do we just jam them in so that we do not need to expend ourselves on enemies that can be avoided? Or should be confront all possible enemies right away?"

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

"We are here for the goblins yes?" Muchorak pauses, "I have no means to fight the dead, so if we can keep them contained beyond the door then lets leave them."

Marak Quan,

Khalib avatar

"If someone beyond this area is in need of rescue, it would probably be safer for them to remain there while we deal with the rest of the goblins anyway." Marak says, "Let's come back to this afterwards."

Romon,

52-Nirmathas-Marshal-Ga avatar

Romon considers the implications of "many days dead" things. The imagined odor is likely to be quite disagreeable, and he fastidiously decides against invetigating the room now. "Agreed. Let's move on."

The thief moves to the next door and examines it for traps.

usual door routine. if it's clean, and no one objects, he will open it.

perceive trap1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

disable device1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

Once again Romon finds the right key for the lock..Ali gets no distinctive smells behind this door.

This room contains a small armory of crudely made weapons(mostly dogslicersand shortbows) and several small goblin-sized suits of studded leather armor and dented shields. To the south stand a pair of workbenches.

Marak Quan,

Khalib avatar

Marak quickly voices a prayer, and then peers into the room with a long, searching look.

detect magic

"I can't imagine anything valuable would be here, but I might as well give it a peek..."

Inikai,

Pathfinder 9 Monk avatar

Inikai looks at, around and behind the throne if no one has done so.

Perception
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Romon,

52-Nirmathas-Marshal-Ga avatar

Romon sizes up the room and dismisses the potential for gain. But another use of the room does occur to him. "Why don't we stash the bodies in here? That way if any goblins just look into the throne room they won't see anything wrong right away and raise an alarm."

If the suggestion meets with approval Romon is the first to grab a body and drag it to the armoury. One of the small goblins slain cleanly by an arrow. Not one of the reeking, smoking carcasses. Not the big chief. Certainly not the large, no doubt vermin infested cat.

Looking at the arrow stuck body, he checks the arrows to try to find some ones that are still serviceable.

Wellard, can't remember do you toe the party line on arrows? Hits are destroyed, and 50-50 on misses? Also, were there arrows in the armoury?

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

there are lots of Arrows..hundreds..you can easily replenish your quivers to full capacity..for a few months to be honest.

The weaponry is normal goblin quality..ie rubbish apart from one dogslicer hanging on the wall which looks to have had a great deal of care put into its manufacture

Muchorak "Windstriker",

Guard-captain-blacklock avatar

"I believe we should not worry about the bodies," Muchorak looks about the room, "The fresh blood stains and gore will be enough to raise the alarm. We should really be moving on now."

Romon,

52-Nirmathas-Marshal-Ga avatar

Completely persuaded by Muchorak's argument, Romon is relieved that he won't have to handle the corpses. Maybe there are advantages to this kill them all philospophy. Although if we bring a whole horde of goblins down on us 'twill end badly. "OK by me. Just a second then. I'm gonna scarf some arrows and lock up the weapons room."

Romon returns quickly to the armoury where he scoops up a score of arrows and puts them in a ragged quiver he finds there. A little short. Some are pretty rough. I'll sort them later.

He closes and locks the armoury door behind him. "Like Muchorak says, let's move on."

DM Wellard,

Torag Color avatar

The next door also proves to be untrapped and locked..the keys once again solving that problem.

Several rugs made from dog or horse hide lie strewn over the dirt fl oor of this room. Against the north wall stands an impressive collection of horseshoes, each nailed to the wall. To the east sits a ragged padded chair next to a rickety desk that may have once been an expensive antique. To the west sits a canopied bed covered with silk sheets and sporting an once-impressive headboard that featured nymphs and satyrs cavorting in a forest. The bed’s sheets are stained with dirt, while the headboard is bashed and battered.

Kallie goes bright red and turns away from the headboard..the cavorting is fairly explicit..and distinctly energetic.
