Rheticus,

Buoyed by his companions and full of joy with the new dice roller Rheticus keeps digging!

Let's see how this thing works

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Hoskuld Wulfson,

2 Quarry Ambush avatar

Grimacing, Hoskuld raises his scythe and begins carving up the great beast, searching for its stomach contents.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Elizabeth Danflor,

33 Cleric-of-Pharasma avatar

Sorry for my absence guys, I have been dealing with some personal issues and took some down time from the Boards. I am back now, but my presence here may be lessened as to what it was previously (which shouldn't affect my slower paced PbPs like this one).
Liz has a Perception of +7, so if we are taking 20, then she might be the best bet and the rest of you can Aid her in her attempt.

Elizabeth sees the monster fall and looks around to take stock of the room. Seeing Arius examining the body parts, she wanders over and sighs when Arius informs them of the identity of them and that they will need to find the rest of the body. She begins to search the room in earnest, contemplating cutting open the creture to see if any more body parts are inside it.

Between everyone seraching:through, the thigh-deep muck you are rewarded with a few trinkets left over by the otyugh’s meals: an amber necklace worth 350 gp, a silver dagger, and a wax-sealed elixir of vision in a metal flask.

Arius Pelgane,

7 C avatar

"Well, at least it was not a total loss."

Arius casts a spell. Prestidigitation All of the blood and muck covering him drips off onto the floor, leaving him clean and minty fresh.

"Everyone, let me clean you off too, or the butcher's shop smell will announce our presence to anything with a working nose."

Welcome back, flash.

Rheticus,

09-Mwangi-Expanse avatar

"Ptech!"
Slimy and nearly out of his mind with 'reality' Rheticus thankfully receives the spell.
"Lets go somewhere else. Now."

Anju gladly takes Arius up on his offer for his spell. "Thank you, I really needed that!"

She nods at Rheticus, "Yes, let's move forward here, more specifically OUT of this vile pit!" She beckons the group to follow her through the passage leading to the next room (D5 on the map).

Rheticus,

09-Mwangi-Expanse avatar

Rheticus eagerly proceeds, checking for traps along the way.

Hoskuld Wulfson,

2 Quarry Ambush avatar

Hoskuld falls in behind the scouts, eager to see this task completed so he can return to his own personal quest. He cleans off his scythe with a rag and locks the blade down to keep it out of the way while he travels.

Arius Pelgane,

7 C avatar

"Skeleton, follow them."

Arius also follows his companions.

Elizabeth Danflor,

Elizabeth once more moves off to scout ahead, staying to the shadows and keeping her eye out for anything out of the ordinary.

Three wooden tables stand in the middle of this room, their surfaces stained red with old bloodshed. To the east stands a ten-foot-wide hutch with wicker doors opening into a strawlined cage. The northern-most table has a body which looks to have died fairly recently. It has 4 insects attached to it. As you are taking this in your attention is ripped from the body and the insects feasting on it by a shriek. Another little, Dark-skinned creature like those you fought earlier is over at a large standup closet door. He throws this door open, keeping his body behind the protection of the door, and two more of the insects come buzzing out towards the party. Feel free to take a look at the pictures of the stirge in The Preview Bestiary II

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24, but Arius' command is the rate-limiting step.

The skeleton lumbers into action, attempting to crush the nearest insect.

Branham hits the already injured stirge directly, killing it. The other flys quickly towards anju, trying to land on her (she swats it away first).

as Hoskuld runs after the humanoid, it spreads its arms and plunges the room into darkness again. luckily for Hoskuld, it doesn't have time to move and is still hit by his massive weapoon

Anju wrote:

You were still in darkness with a Derro running around... I would normally in a home game give it a round or two... but here we go:

Hoskuld's slash passes harmlessly through where he beleives the derro is and takes out one of the stirges feasting on the body on the table behind him. After a few minutes the magical darkness fades. The derro is gone* there is still one stirge feasting on the dead body on the table, the dead body now has Hoskuld's weapon sticking out of it.

anyone with track or survival DC 10

Spoiler:
There is an easy blood trail to follow where the derro ran full speed (full withdrawal) out of the caves and through the trap door to the surface.

Arius Pelgane,

Arius uses his wand to send a magical bolt at the last stirge.

Arius Pelgane,

After a few moments of fruitless examination, he looks up and asks, "Keth, do you see anything? I have no idea how to interpret these traces."

But Arius can Aid Another, I suppose.

1d20 ⇒ 7

Or maybe not.

The 'Cap,

nothing of real value is found in the room, the wooden 'cage' the stirges were in is empty, and the wooden tables are bare except for the one body the other stirges were on. you easily find the blood trail mentioned behind the spoiler above
