Sewer Crew

You have not found a symbol, so that seems to indicate this side tunnel is irrelevant to your escape.

Alcibades:
The stonework here is in good condition and it is unlikely you will be able to quickly cause a collapse with the tools are your disposal.

Alcibades tries to peer through the lattice of the portcullis while straining to hear if anything is on the other side. There is a quick flash of movement on the other side and something comes crashing into the grate. The grating of the portcullis becomes highly charged and is enclosed in a field of electricity. Something big on the other side lets out a deep cry of pain. It steps back, you can hear it sniffing the air and it says something that sounds menacing.

if you speak draconic:
"Tasty morsels, I'll ripe the flesh from your bones."

Kadin,

Madge Color avatar

Um... I am v confused about what we are looking at, exactly. You said T-junction but the way was barred. Also something about roundness. So... The door is before the junction? On one side of the junction?

Also, why would there be a giant, permanent door in front of the path between headquarters and the safehouse? Wouldn't that be v poor path design? I'm'a just saying.

Kadin,

Madge Color avatar

Okay, that whole last one was supposed to be ooc, but apparently I'm still needing to learn stuff about this quasi-html.

Kadin says, "Um... I vote we leave. Now."

XperimentalDM,

Oct avatar

My fault. It seemed so clear to me when I wrote it and I reread it and realized it was not very clear. The passage you "came from" contiues forward past a side tunnel {forming a T-junction) The side tunnels opening is more circular and is the passage that is barred. Nothing is preventing you from going forward. Apologies.

Alcibades,

05-Consumed By Beetle 1 avatar

For those that speak draconinc:

Draconic:
What race are you mighty friend?

Draconic:
Who trapped you in there?

Alcibades Thoughts:

I am trying to figure out for myself what type of creature this is.
Knowledge Arcana3d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 1, 1) + 7 = 11
Knowledge Nature3d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 2, 3) + 7 = 17
I am specifically interested in what type of dragon's have a lightning breath weapon and what type of alignments they are known to have.

If the creature tells me type of creature it is I will try to figure out what kind of alingment that creature usually has and if i beleive that it fits my knowledge of that creature.
Knowledge Arcana3d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 6, 1) + 7 = 19
Knowledge Nature3d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 6, 6) + 7 = 25

To the group: "Wait just a moment maybe we are in luck."

XperimentalDM,

Oct avatar

It speaks in lower tones but still menacingly as it looks at Alciabdes and then over his shoulder at the boy you are escorting.

In draconic:
The soft skins call me lizard. The frightened little soft skins locked me in this place. If you would call me friend then release me and I will consider not snapping the bones of that tasty little nib-let over there between my teeth.

Alcibades:

to be honest my MMs are on my laptop and I left the charging cable in my classroom but the first knowledge arcana roll is low.
You are not certain what it is exactly. You remember there are several dragons that have electrical breath some good, some evil. You also no some other magical beasts are capable of electrical effects

Alcibades,

05-Consumed By Beetle 1 avatar

Draconinc:
One moment.

I was going considering ignoring this door and taking the safer route but this is becoming way too fun.

I move away from the door and motion every to gather to me. In a hushed voice I relay:

Alcibades: What race are you mighty friend? Who trapped you in there?

Lizard: The soft skins call me lizard. The frightened little soft skins locked me in this place. If you would call me friend then release me and I will consider not snapping the bones of that tasty little nib-let over there between my teeth.

"So here is my idea. We try to strike a bargain with this might creature. We let it out and continue on our way. The condition is we are not attacked by our new friend and he can clear out the other creatures following us. Obviously there is some risks involved, however, it looks as if he has been trapped by devil worshippers so i don't see why the enemy of my enimies would not be my friend. What do you all think?"

"Also if anyone can ascertain why kind of creature he is that may be of benifit. Especially if you know the nature of that creature (in other words alignment). Or if any of our spellcaster's have the ability to ascertain what kind of fellow this guy is."

Alcibades,

05-Consumed By Beetle 1 avatar

I nearly forgot.

Sense Motive on, "If you would call me friend then release me and I will consider not snapping the bones of that tasty little nib-let over there between my teeth." 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1, 6) + 4 = 13

Does it seem like it means what it says?

I think an important sense motive may be coming soon.

It seems genuine in its statement, but it is rather menacing.

Ichabod Crow,
Pocketing the wooden coin for consideration later, I'll slowly draw my longsword and try to identify this creature (Bardick Knowledge Check) 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6, 5) + 3 = 15
Unless I identify the creature as something beyond my abilities, I'll attack it.
Kadin,

Madge Color avatar

Kadin rolls a sense motive on the crazy member of her team who actually WANTS to let the monster out. 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3) + 6 = 14

She also determines whether the monster is evil.

Regardless, she says, "Um... If we let it out it MIGHT not eat one of us? Which one would that be? And what about everyone else? Regardless, I think I'm going to have a vote against letting the man-eating monster out of the cage. I mean, the government isn't perfect, but I have a suspicion we're not dealing with a political prisoner here."

Alcibades,

05-Consumed By Beetle 1 avatar

I make sure to keep my voice hushed.

I was just telling you the terms that were offered. I am obviously planning on suggesting better terms. I am suggesting we consider letting him out if:

1. He agrees to not attack any of us.
2. If he seems interested in the idea of attacking our pursuers (and I am assume his captors).

I assume the aggression in the creature comes from:

1. Possibly his nature.
2. Definetly being imprisoned.
3. Intially because he views soft skins as the ones who imprisoned him.

I plan on explaining to him that we are not one of the ones who imprisoned him and we are also the enemies of those that imprisoned him. So, we would be happy to help him if he would be happy to live us alone and harass his captors. Who i can only imagine to be the Chelix Government running west crown. Probablly the hell knights and clergy specifically.

They are devil worshiping bastdards where i feel more akin to the dragons myself.

Let me know how that detect evil works out. Although i think as long as the creature is lawful we continue our negotiations. The logic being even some of our evil clergy members are true to there word. If the creature is not evil and not chaotic i would say it is a no brainer letting him out.

Also to DM and Kadin ... I am not lying so i will not role a bluff check. I could role a diplomacy check but i assume that doesn't really have an affect on PCs. If Kadin or the DM would like one i am more then willing to role it. Although you are free to consider me reckless or perhaps i am just more cognizent of a larger threat.

I also say that the creature would be a great distraction in getting our possible pursuers to lose our trail.

Kadin:

Alcibades seems to sincerely think loosing this critter will help slow down the Hellknights.

You star into the half lite grating for a moment. This thing gives you the jibblies. He's defiantly leaning on the evil end of the alignment spectrum. It's not overwhelming, but it is very definitely there.

Aya,

I also would like to sense motive. I'd like to see if it's something that might be soothed by nice mandolin music. Played from a distance. 3d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 4, 3) + 3 = 16

Hey guys, I am getting a very bad vibe from this guy. Kadin is right - 'might' isn't a good enough promise. We've been down here for some time, maybe we should just move on for now. I would honestly rather take my chances with beings I know than an unknown creature.

Is there a cloak or some item of clothing we could leave behind to make it look like the Lizard got us? It could confuse the hellnights enough so we could get out of here.

DM SCREEN UP. I use a system called vitality and wound. Vitality is regular HP, wound = con score. I'll e-mail you more on the system details. just let me know when you get to half HP or into Wound Damage. It lashes out at you with 3 limbs. One scratches you for 3 damage. It leaves a cold residue on your skin. Fort Save. You know some shadow creatures can not stand light. Depending on the creature it may need to be magical or not.

Observing the creature to figure out what it is:
Knowledge arcane: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (4, 4, 2) + 5 = 15

As much as I'd like to see this monster eat up all the guards tying to catch us, I think the odds are just as good that it will eat us if we let it out. Also, we'd use up a lot of valuable time in the attempt to disable/destroy the electrified portcullis.

Unless this creature is non-evil, I say we keep moving. Besides, I don't think this thing is going anywhere anytime soon. We can always come back later to deal with him.

Ichabod Crow,

DM:
What starting hit point system do you use? Should I roll 1d8 plus con or is it max at first level? I've played both ways in recent past. If it's 1d8 plus con... here's my roll 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2.

Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
I'll adjust back away from it and try a "light cantrip" on my sword just incase it works. For the next round of combat.

Alcibades,

Well in terms of saving time...

I assume this conversation goes on with the party but...

I ask in draconic, "How did you end up getting trapped? What do you call your race? What do you want to do if you get out?"

I also inspected the door to see if i have any good ideas for breaking it.

The for runners right now are giving the big guy synergy. Using acid splash to weaken the weak points. Destroying the writting.

I am not set on doing this right now but i am exploring the option while other people consider their posts.

Alcibades,

05-Consumed By Beetle 1 avatar

Good point David... To DM Did it seem like the door was electrified or that it was hit with electricity? Is their sewage going under the door? If i am not sure i will throw a stone or something at it and see if it reacts.

David:
You know it is not a dragon. There are several other reptilian species that speak draconic. Lizardfolk for example.

I back away and move to the farthest point from the dragon/lizard while still remaining with the group, probably next to the young kid.
