The original Fiend Folio from about 1980 had gish listed in the githyanki entry. See, I know that because I was a big fan of the githyanki before all of you were. So there.

Well, I have been a fan since they were in White Dwarf.

:P

Just a slight fix for ya. :)

Whoa, what year were they in White Wolf?? and what issue?

Fiend Folio was my FAVORITE monster book. And the only one I ever had stolen.

Thanks, my gf was distracting me with her "that one time I played Vampire" story when I typed that.

It was in one of the issues in '79 the first guy I played with had. I have no idea which one, though.

Right there with you on that one.

From the Fiend Folio (1979):

If a lair is found it will house 21-30 githyanki with typical distribution as follows:-

1 supreme leader

2 captains

1 knight: 8th level anti-paladin

2 warlocks

3 sergeants

2 'gish': fighter/magic-users

10-19 lower levels: evenly distributed between the three possible classes.

Did you hear about the new splatbook out that provides all kinds of fluff to help play your twinked gish character?

What's a character?

Oh...you mean a toon! Well, why didn't you say so?

I've liked 'em ever since they were invented by a Japanese guy in 1974. Of course, in those days, they called them "Monchhichis".

You dare to liken the Githyanki to Monchichis? That deserves a flagging.

Huh, I wonder if that's the origin of the subzone name "The Gish" in City of Heroes...
