Ok, two more things:

There's something up with Hookmaw's saves. He lost Iron Will as a feat (like the other Barb:4 Ogres), but it's his Fort save that's two points lower.

Also with Dorella again, is her dagger damage right?? Also, did you not give all of her favored class bonuses to HP? I didn't add up skill ranks to see, but she seems to be shy a few HP.

Hide shirt is much more expensive (90 gp, I think).
And light armor, right?

According to the RotRL Player's Guide, it's medium armor. Which means it would actually now provide a +5 armor bonus in PRPG games.

Now, whether it should remain medium armor might be an open question. Has that been errata'd somewhere? I think hide shirts were nominally intended as a hide equivalent to chain shirts (which don't feel very "barbariany") combined with hide armor. (roughly speaking)

The armor catagory is incorrectly labeled Medium.

James Jacobs wrote:
Yeah... the table has an unfortunate typo. Hide shirts are light armor; they're there to give barbarians some barbarian-looking armor that doesn't impede their speed.

You'll notice in the description it calls it clearly "light armor" and the speed is not reduced as a medium armor would. The CotCT Player's Guide fixed the misprint on the table.

Thanks, pres man, I missed that one!

You are right. I failed to correct Hookmaw's saves. They should be:

Normal:
Fort +13 Ref +2, Will +3
Raging:
Fort +15 Ref +2, Will +5

Also Dorella's hp are 113 (4d8+9d6+61)[(4x4.5=18)+((8x3.5)+6=34)+(4x13=52)+9 favored class

=113hp]

Dorella's melee damage should be 1d6+4

EDIT: For an updated version .

I am sorry that I cannot edit the previous stats.

My players just finished the Graul farm... And were almost sick to their stomachs, lol.

At one point in the final battle near the barn with Mammy and her three sons, one of my players (the group ranger) initiated a grapple with Mammy Graul as she tried to touch him with a curse spell. As the grapple worked, Mammy took off towards the sky (as she was flying). At around 65 feet in the air, with arrows, magic missiles, and multiple short sword hits from the ranger, she finally dropped under 0 hp, sending them both plumetting to earth.

Although my ranger survived the fall, he was lost for words when I explained to him that Mammy actually gave birth to twin boys when she hit the ground.

This whole adventure arc is really great so far. I think we really appreciate having an adventure written for adults. And all this blood and guts in this (and the previous) adventure is really cool stuff. It makes the players really want to do away with those nasty ogres... They're not called monsters for nothing!

It is no criticism of your work, but Lamatar seems pretty weak.

The fighter in my group will probably mince him in two rounds without even getting hit.

Taldor (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path Subscriber)

Would that be faster or slower than he would have minced him had he remained a CR 3 bog-standard wight?

I could have added more items to beef him up, but I didn't want to throw in too much "extra" loot. Don't forget, Mr Fighter ought to be in a Forcecage in this encounter anyway...

A bit slower for sure.

I will make a note of caging the fighter :D

I think it is cool to find Lamatar like this and am just a bit put off that he will not have any greater impact on the encounter.

I think I will give him full ranger BAB and give him more appropiate equipment. One of the PCs is at the time dead and I plan something special for Lamatar and the PCs reincarnation - giving him some extra equipment will not be any trouble.

Twowlves wrote:

Minor details; Lamatar should not have a Constitution score.

Typically undead templates retain HD, BAB and saves.
He should also get 8 hp from favored class.
It appears the human bonus feat is missing. What would you suggest?
I am not sure I follow your skills write up. Why all those +1 skills? I suggest giving Lamatar equipment worth 7,800 gp.

I will probably apply the Cairn Wight option too. Energy draining arrows should scare the s%&! out of my players.

This is my switch hitter cairn wight version of

Did I not delete that? My bad. I'll fix it tonight.

I made Lamatar with HeroLab, then exported it to a word file and manually added the "Wight" template from Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary. I guess I'm a little rusty with the templates. Thanks for the feedback!

Map and description of Turtleback Ferry.

This was made by one of my players for use IMC. In our campaign his character is now the baroness of Hook Mountain, and the big house (#1 on the map) is her new residence. The rest of the town is basically as described in the scenario. Kevin is now her henchman and cook. We played this in 4E, if that is somehow relevant.

The map is a patchwork made from cutouts from the map of Sandpoint. Credit for this original map goes to Pazio's artists.

See the ridges along the river and south of the church? This is the high water mark. The land below that is low, formed by river sediment. The land above is hard, the same stone as the river canyon, tough the "canyon" wall is only 10 feet here.

Since I have it in layers in the drawing program I thought it would be simple to quickly fix it. It turned out to be a little more work than I first thought. I removed boats and such too as those would be washed out to sea. Anyway, here it is...

Flooded version of Turtleback Ferry.

By the way, the descriptions aren't really finished yet.

Great job! It's nice that you kept the same look as the Sandpoint map (which was gorgeous).

I thought so too.

The awful truth is that I just copied parts of Sandpoint and put it together as Turtleback Ferry so all gorgeousness is actually Paiso's and I hope some carried over.

Very nice! Now, if we had had that when we actually played the scenario. * Chuckles * Well, this way maybe someone else can use it.

Those are excellent, as you got those maps in layers could you post those maps without the numbers?

Not quite. There are two houses that kept the numbers from Sandpoint, but here they are anyway.

Turtleback Ferry with fewer numbers.
Turtleback Ferry flooded with fewer numbers.

For some reason photobucket made them smaller.

If you only have a basic account and if a photo is larger that 1024 x 768, photo bucket reduces it's size to that dimension. If you opt for the upgraded account the limit is 4,000 x 3,000. That's why I always reduce them myself before uploading them there. You have more control over how they are shrunk that way.

I have finished a comprehensive PRPG conversion of the monsters of the Hook Mountain Massacre.

Enjoy!

Very helpful, Thank you!

I used your earlier version but just got to the point where I needed to work on the rest of them so this is perfect timing!

Thank you so very much. This cuts down on the conversion work I need to do in the coming year by a metric ton(ne).

PS: It looks like Mammy's spell DCs are 1 point less than they should be across the board. And how did she get +57hp? I count +54 (+36 con +9 toughness +9 favored class).

Doesn't Mammy usually use false life extensively?

She does, and it's included separately as +14 from false life.

Thanks, I think that is true for her necromancy spells alone. I will look to correct her DCs.

The last 3 hp would be accounted for by her toad familiar, I think.

I checked and I think the DCs are across the board, not just necromancy.

I totally missed her familiar. Wasn't it a rat named "It Tickles" in the original? If so, could be why it slipped my mind.

You are right about the DCs. They have been corrected.

It Tickles is Dorella's familiar.
Mammy's is a toad called Blub-Blug.

LoL, I totally forgot which one I was talking about. My bad. I was reworking Dorella (making her Aberrant instead of Fey) and in so doing had her on the brain I guess. You are, as usualy, correct sir. My apologies.

Just for curiosity, is it possible to see the "uncut" version of this adventure? Me and my players are all zombie/gore movie maniacs and would like to experience this module in all its graphic and explicit original glory. And you probably know what it means for an horror movie collector to know there is an "uncut" 12 seconds bonus out there he can't see.

I am referring to "Well, almost perfect. Nick went a little… over the top, shall we say, in places. A few of the scenes in his original draft were things I can never unread. They’ve scarred parts of my mind that I thought, after growing up on a steady diet of Stephen King, Clive Barker, and John Carpenter, had been as traumatized as they could get."

Needless to say, i was HOOKed!

Alas, reading the entirety of this thread will reveal to you the numerous times that it has been stated no "uncut" version will be made available.

We all grieve for the lost material. [Begin moment of silence]
