Here are photos of some of the setpiece battles in the ROTR campaign I'm GMing. Taken at Back of the Closet Games and Hobbies in Auburn, NY.

Linkified

The core group is:

Verios- Elven Diviner Wizard
Jakk- Halfelven Rogue (then spellblade rogue)
Kitt- Halfelven Rogue (then Ranger Rogue)
Skillum- Human Paladin of Sarenrae
Estle-Human (?) Hedgewitch

and at varios times
Kaerla- Human Cleric of Shelyn
replaced by
Naslyn- Tiefling Cleric of Shelyn

and finally replaced by
Goryl- Halforc Barbarian

Take a look at the cool Pathfinder paper goblin minis and other paper mini sets.

I'm a prop whore...

I love the battle mat. Very unique. Good pictures! I wish I could use dry erase markers on most of the stuff I use for my games.

Those are Tac-Tiles. I forget who makes them. But when I got them about 6 years ago, you got a box of 12 for about $40.00

They are 10" square and are identical, with puzzle-piece assembly.

So you can do one, long 10"x120" map or whatever (I normally set up 30x40)

If you do it right, you can just keep scrolling as the party goes. In the Thistletop Assault, The hedgerow was on the first 2 rows of tiles. When they got to the bridge, it crossed the next row, leading to the Island and the wall of the Monsetary. Once everyone was to the bridge, I erased the hedgerow and took those 2 rows off, sliding the entire thing towards me so that I could reattach the blank rows to the other end, expanding into the monestary as they went (you can see some of that in the pix).

And, with both 1" and 2" squares, it's easy to overlay Map Pack tiles and Flip Mats onto the Tac Tiles (and because of how they store, you can save maps from week to week. One of the things I do at setup is alet the palyers reassemble last week's map...)

Anyway, it works, though I sometimes take liberties with map interpretation (especialy in places like Thistletop and the Glassworks, where the map is at an angle...)

They found the wall with the Goblin drawing of what is under Thistletop. (You can see my sketch in orange on the whiteboard map and then one of the player's copy of the drawing as well...)

Once in the first underlevel, they found the temple of Lamashtu, where the Yeth Hounds did some good scaring before they were brought down.

Then the party decided to bust apart the statue of Lamashtu, which made enough nose that everyone on the level heard. Orik tried to sneak by and warn Lyrie and Nualia, but he was spotted and the heroes gave chase, fighting Lyrie and Orik and the familiar in the archaeology room.

Once Orik was dead and Lyrie was incapacitated, Kitt the Ranger/Rogue tried to talk to the familiar, which scratched him and took off. So he gave chase.

Alone.

Eventually Goryl the barbarian followed, but not before Kitt ran into Bruthazmus and the harem. (Bugbear Ranger with favored enemy: Elf vs Halfelf Ranger/Rogue with favored enemy: Gablinoids! Joy!)

Luckily, the heroes heard the screams and eventually showed up to finish the goblinoids off....

OOPS.

Repost.

I am currently working on the next batch. I didn't like some of the designs the artist did so I have been reworking them.

As the happy owner of two of your sets, CJ, what's next? RotRl 2?

Want NOW!!!!

Seriously, though, this is something I'm looking foreward to.

(The heroes mostly wrapped up BO this week. They fought Nualia and Malfeshnikor...whom they called Malfeshnikkies. I'll have pictures soon.)

I just finished drawing the Lamia and the Ghoulish Dire Bat last night. I still have Aldern and Iesha to go before I start painting all of them. Maybe I'll put some teaser pics somewhere...

JOY!

(Paizo Superscriber)

Our heroes almost finished Thistletop last week.

New pix have been uploaded to the link above.

Poor Dave. It was his Bday and as a present, the gods of luck and dice decided to beat him mercilously.

He lost more CON to the Tentacle Monster (I forget its name) dropping his HP by 9 (he's a Rogue 2/ Ranger 1).

He got hit, HARD, by every major monster this week.

He failed two saves while trying to disarm the Porticullis/ Pit Trap.

And in the battle with Nualia, even with the Healing Wind from Estle, he kept getting up and getting knocked right back down again...

Still, everyone had fun and they have pretty good grasp on what has transpired so far...even if they don't know WHY yet...

Taldor (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

Cool, I was wondering when Nualia would appear as the next combatant. Thanks again for the pics!

(Paizo Superscriber)

I actually wish I had the skill (and patience) to put these all togehter as the standard standups that the PF minis were intended for. I think they would look even better.

But even as A-frame standups, (which most of my other paper minis are), the look pretty good and still convey the proper feel of the game .

Either way, Aldern and Shalelu will show up again in the next few adventures. (Shalelu is expecially nice because of her links to Burnt Offerings, Hook Mountain, AND the Armageddon Echo...)

(BTW- we COULD still use a tentacle monster, Bunyip, Goblin Druid, Vargouille, Attic Whisperer, Tsuto, Ameiko, shadows, giant crab, and Sandpoint Devil...Of course, most of them are dead in my campaign...) I was gonna add Zombies, but Crystal's new PF Kingmaker set has those. (Shameless plug)

But I'd rather see the Skinsaw minis first.

LOL

Reminds me of the old Sesame Street sketch about

"Fat Cat Sat on a Hat then he slept on a Mat until is was Flat...OH YEAH!!! oh yeah...."
