I'm mostly through all of HMM. My party hasn't gone through the Shimmerglens to confront the Nymph ghost yet. I'm wanting to throw some pretty dark and bleak stuff at them to show them how corrupted Whitewillow actually is at this point.

Any ideas anybody want to throw my way? Thanks!

Bill

The adventure has some pretty good ideas in it.

To setup that sort of mood, I like to present an innocent-appearing tableau, then add a twist.
Perhaps a bunch of pixies frolicking while playing ball - on spot check ball revealed to be a human eyeball. Or a number of pixie maidens giggling and flirting as they do a "maypole dance" around a handsome pixie male in the middle (the "pole") - "ribbons" turn out to be his intestines.

Pixie Shots

One pixie, bound in cold iron chains. Bad guy grabs said pixie, twists off head, squeezes innards of pixie into shot glass, slams the shot, drops a resurrect on pixie, rinse, lather, repeat until the pixie cannot come back any more.

And I thought that drink with gold leaf in it was expensive...

There's always the beautiful - and quite naked - dryad beckoning a handsome male character to her, uttering promises of the carnal sort - and standing right in front of quicksand or deep swampland.

And have a fey revel (satyrs running through the wild eating and drinking) - only those eat the fless of sentient beings and drink blood.

The trees, of course, will look like they have faces and claws - and closer to the heart of corruption, they not just look like that.

Finally, let them glimpse a dark ferryman on the waters, which turns out be just a fallen tree (or is it? Charon would love that glen!)

Spell-like ability FTW ^_^

The Witchfire from one of the beastaries would be a good encounter

I also wanted to expand on this scenario. I will draw the three witches into this, as it is a pity to just make them yet another canon fodder in the Kreeg lair. They of course will taunt and torture the nymphs ghost, but they should also interact with the PCs...I think they will take the forms of nymphs themselves, seducing the male players to follow into death traps in order to "save their sister" I just still need the "tests" the PCs have to "pass". Maybe one will also shortly reveal her face to the only female player, to sow dissent among the party.
Ok there you could come with pixies, sewn to a necklace which is given to the Pcs by the "nymphs" as flowers, and they do not recognize it or similar stuff, but this adventure has too much of gory stuff and my players only laugh about the overuse of gore. In the end the PCs should start to hate the witches and be really happy to finally get them.
I always have Macbeth in mind when I think about the cenario.
