Sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere, and I just missed it.

Don't ask why- I was measuring areas on the guide's map, to compare likely area covered in the AP. It looks like- and if I'm wrong please let me know! the guide's map's scale is off. The area for the first AP (according the the guide's scale) would extend all the way to Mivon.

When I measured the Stolen Lands in the guide it looked like they covered ~ 18,000 square miles. So, should the guide's map distances (for interacting with other areas in the River Kingdoms)just be scaled (sorry) up? Or the hexes in the AP scaled down?

[sheepishly] I do like maps, and they're all pretty! [/sheepishly] That's why I stared measuring the distance to the other places...

Part of the problem here is that the folks who worked on, wrote, and developed the Kingmaker Adventure Path are NOT the same folks who worked on, developed, and wrote the Guide to the River Kingdoms. There's SOME crossover, and I did my best as Creative Director to make sure that both products have good crossover... but the match isn't as perfect as I wanted.

In the case of Mivon... part of the Stolen Lands presented in Kingmaker DO extend into Mivon, according to the map in the Guide to the River Kingdoms. It's worth keeping in mind, though, that despite where the borders are placed, they're not 100% exact. The River Kingdoms are a fluid place and control changes often. Mivon can't patrol its entire border, and especially along the northern and northeastern side, where it's VERY wilderness, the actual border is pretty sketchy.

Furthermore, the situation in the Stolen Lands as Kingmaker begins is that there's been an increase in bad-guy activity, be those bad guys bandits, boggards, centaurs, barbarians, or whatever. As a result, the southern border of the Stolen Lands is expanded somewhat... both because these "bad guys" are getting more frisky, and because Mivon and Pitax aren't really that good about defending or even patrolling those borders.

You'll note, in any case, that the Narlmarches extend off the southern side of the map in Kingmaker, and the junction of the East Sellen River and the Shrike, where the city of Mivon is located, is not on the Kingmaker maps. And if you were to place the rectangles of the four Kingmaker regions onto the map in "Guide to the River Kingdoms", those four maps would form an elongated rectangle that would be at an angle—the southernmost point in the Stolen Lands isn't the bottom of the map in Kingmaker, but the bottom right corner of the easternmost zone (which will be presented in Pathfinder Adventure Path #33).

In any case, the maps aren't perfect matches. Which is slightly frustrating, but not as frustrating as would have been delaying "Guide to the River Kingdoms" a month or two in order to tweak the maps a little bit.

I also noticed that on the large, blank overview map in Kingmaker #1, there's no river running north to south through the Hooktongue Sloughs.
Shouldn't the East Sellen River be there, running from New Stetven through the Hooktongue Sloughs to Mivon?

The East Sellen River does indeed run through Hooktongue Slough, from one end of the map to the other. The actual river's chart through the region will be accurate once the map for the region is published in Pathfinder #34.

I always thought when doing in-depth maps you would just take the larger map, blow up that section and hand it to the artist as a guide.

Unfortunately, things are never that simple.

Where can we get a zoomed in map of the Stolen Lands / Brevoy (i.e. the area pertaining to the first Chapter of this AP? so far the one I have in the Player's Guide doesn't show the Stolen Lands, and the one in the River Kingdom Chronicles is bit sparse IRT the Stolen Lands...)

PS: let me know if the 1st Chapter has something decent and I will beg my DM to share........ :)

The exploration rules chapter of part one of Kingmaker has a decent two page spread map off the whole of the campaign area with no tags or labels.

To echo Purple Dragon Knight, I'd love a map that reconciles the topography of Brevoy's borders and the Stolen Lands, including a scale (if not the hexes). I'm having a hard time following the East Sellen and the Shrike from the Brevoy map in AP #31 to the two-pager in the exploration article, and figuring out precisely where Oleg's is in relation to Restov.

Is this what'll be given in #34, James?

There's a sliver of Rostland showing up on the map for PF 33, but it's not going to show hard borders or anything like that.

The Shrike River is the one that flows through the Greenbelt, then up into Brevoy; it basically serves as the border between Brevoy and the Stolen Lands in the map in PF 33.

The East Sellen River flows through the swamps of Hooktongue Slough; this map will appear in PF 34.

The southern border of Brevoy on the map that appears on page 66 of PF #31 isn't 100% exact; it does imply that some of Brevoy does extend down into the Stolen Lands, but those lands are not regularly patrolled by Brevoy and are more accurately thought of as borderlands or no-man's lands.

In PF 36, we're going to have an article that talks about Continuing the Kingmaker Campaign, and a sizable portion of that article will talk about Brevoy's official reaction to the PCs' kingdom that may or may not end up encroaching into Brevoy's lands. A full-scale war with Brevoy is an EXCELLENT plotline for continuing Kingmaker beyond the events of the last adventure in PF 36, and we'll be giving a lot of tools for GMs who want to pursue this plotline in PF 36.

Most excellent. I'm in the process of going through over six years' worth of "Dungeon" looking for maps and such to use in "Kingmaker" and lingered over the generous Continuing the Adventure section at the end of "Savage Tide." Good stuff, there.

I love the rumors section of the Brevoy article; got me thinking about what might come after the big "Kingmaker" finale, as I'm really hoping to see the characters for this campaign through to Level 20 so that the cool Pathfinder RPG class abilities that kick in then get some playtime, and the characters have some time to enjoy their roles as rulers.

Thank you for the clarification on the maps and what's coming down the road.
