So I was looking at the maps from Rivers Run Red and Blood for Blood. And the grids don't match up!

If you match up the grid instead of the terrain features the result isn't all that bad. Sure, you can quite clearly see where the maps are joined, mainly at the top and bottom of Narlmarches, but it's not all that jarring.

How I spent my last Friday night before the school year gets rollin':

The Stolen Lands (laminated posters from the Map Folio)

319 of these suckers (traced from the poster maps, 10 to a page, laminated the page, then carefully cut out each one, sticky tack on back)

Some love for the guys and gals who've provided years of fun already and more to come

Aaaaaand... DONE (with campaign set to start in late September or early October, 2010)

Nice stuff! I hope your players know to appreciate your work :)

(2) A significant hunk of the Stolen Lands are technically in Brevoy, yes? Both ends of the South Rostland Road are in Brevoy, and I rather think all of it is, which means Oleg's is too.

Yes, absolutely. It says in Varnhold that the row including Restov, Nivakta's Crossing and Fort Serenko are all part of Brevoy. Oleg's is in that same row when you put the maps together, and thus in Brevoy.

Also, considering that a road can only be built AND maintained in hexes that are claimed and controlled by a realm, then the entire South Rostland Road MUST be in Brevoy. Per the rules, if a hex with a road becomes uncontrolled, the road goes away. Hence, Oleg's is in Brevoy once more.

Alas, this doesn't make sense as Oleg's can be claimed by the players per Rivers. Grrr... I hate inconsistencies.

For future projects of this type, a map with more context around the edges would be very, very helpful.

Quite. When you look at the different maps, you see these:

Brevoy map detail (I apologize for the defacing, but I'm trying to avoid CUP issues.)

In the Brevoy detail map, the border clearly runs through the Narlmarch forests. This is the 'official' map of Brevoy found in Stolen Lands.

Golarian map detail

In the Golarian detail map, the border runs along the northern edge of the Narlmarch. Admittedly, this is a much less detailed scale, so maybe the forest thins out into Brevoy, but they show the edge of dense forest.

And as stated before, I hate the fact that the North compass roses aren't actually pointing north, but northeast-ish. If you rotate the grid map so that North is straight up, the maps is WAAAY off. I agree with previous statements that ~16 degrees rotation is all that is needed, which means the compass roses aren't pointing north. Considering that 1 guy (Rob Lazzaretti, who is AWESOME at it, btw) does all this cartography, you'd think it would match up.

I won't get started on the Brevoy/Iobaria borders where 1 map shows plains (Stolen Lands gazetteer on Brevoy) and another map shows mountains (Varhold gazetteer on Iobaria)...
