I made the Chick Pea stew recipe as detailed in Edge of Anarchy. Surprisingly good!

May I make the following comments?

Spices were too dilute. I reccommend doubling them.

The recipe calls for kale or other leafy green. I think Kale was perfect. I would consider cabbage in a pinch, but spinach or mustard greens or bok choy are not going to have the "crunch" of the kale.

The recipe says to serve it over rice or pasta. IMO culturally it would make more sense to serve it with crusty bread. The pasta or rice requires a second cooking pot while the bread could be bought or made every few days.

Overall, I thought it was really good (we served over rice) and my children also ate it nicely!

Can I just say how awesome it was to see this recipe? It gave me a nice Leaves From The Inn Of The Last Home feeling that I'd been missing.

Leaves was an awesome book. I have a recipe in mind for reefclaw pasties, along with oliphant ears. :P

I was also instantly reminded of those classic Dragonlance books as well!

I am very much in favor of adding things like music or poetry or this recipe to Pathfinder.

When we play this AP, I will serve this to my group. :)

We have the Goblin song from ROTRL and now a recipe. I say we petition for a Kreeg family tree and Logue doing a sexy Varisian gypsy dance on Youtube.

I'm curious to know if those oliphant ears are a dessert item...

That's wonderful!

Considering they sound suspiciously like the elephant ears that are ubiquitous at fairs and carnivals, I'm guessing they are.

I'm glad the stew is good. I'm planning on making it myself, but considering my omnivorous habits, I'll probably be adding chicken to it.

I tried it last night, and it was delicious. I never follow instructions for measurement of spices, I just do it by feel. I think I probably used about three times the amount listed. There was a special on locally grown kale at the grocery store, and I think the bunches were a bit bigger than normal as a result. The kale was delicious, but there was way too much of it.
I'm planning on making it for my gaming group soon. I hope they like it as much as I did.

Oh I'm so glad you guys liked it! I seriously make it all the time...and I vary the spice amounts too, depending on the mood I'm in. And yes, kale is da bomb, I eat it at least once a week. Thanks for the comments!

I haven't made the stew yet. We might do that soon, though, when they lay Zellara's remains to rest at a crossroads outside town--thinking ahead, a crossroads they'll pass on the way out of Korvosa during "A History of Ashes." There are two pure-blooded Varisians in our five-person band of heroes, after all.

The recipe's inclusion in that issue did inspire me to add something to our first session, though. This is what the players and their characters found under the table at Zellara's residence:

Yum.

That's ridiculously awesome.
