I usually don't make my placement until after I've read through the entire AP so I can make sure everything fits, but right now I'm considering one of two locations:
1) One of the 'forgotten' cities at the edge of Thay - either just off the western edge of the Priador (Nethentir, Nethjet, etc) or one of the cities of the eastern Wizards Reach (which was under Thayvian control years ago), such as Laothkund or Escalant. What I'm thinking is that these cities are far enough away from central Thay in that they kept their LE infernal devil-worshiping ways that, in central Thay, changed to the LE aspect of Kossuth/fire. Most of these cities have very few details and no maps, so Westcrown can be fit with some modifications (shrinking the size of the city for one! It's too big anyways).
2) The city of Milvarune, Thesk (which doesn't show up on the - poor - 3e FR maps, but is in all previous editions' maps). This city is relatively undetailed, never had a map, and it only has a few notes in history about it (so details can really be expanded).
Again, this is just my current thoughts given what we know of the AP so far. While I'm leaning towards Milvarune right now, I see there are some interesting events in #5 and #6 of this AP that might require the use of Thay instead. I'm looking forward to the details.
