Finally started our CoT group the other night. As has been the norm, we waited until the series was out before beginning for proper prep and foreshadowing and the like.
For the most part the group bought the opening hook although it was split in exactly what was going on as far as treason and trusting Janiven straight up. The first night they met up, got through the sewers, met other CoW's (the group's unflattering name for the Children of Westcrown) and rescued Arael from the hellknights.

My group is in the laying low section of Bastards right now.
They've killed Whitechin (goblin sorcerer 4) who was leading raids of goblins from the ruined part of Westcrown. They were killing dogs and capture cats. The best was the abandoned house they were using as a base had a meat locker hung with skinned cats.
Then there was a group of bandits who had waylaid some friends of our party fighter while they were working a trade caravan. They captured all but one of the bandits (raging, power attack barbarian one-shotted one of the bandits straight to negative Con). They've now decided to turn the old bandit caves into a fallback point for the Children of Westcrown in case things go badly.
I need one more side quest to get them up to level 3 to take on the Bastards of Erebus.
