Jason Buhlman has finished the PRPG and submitted it to the Paizo Powers That Be for layout and editing. The game will debut at Gencon this August and go shortly on sale afterwards.

What do you plan to do with your copy?

For myself, I plan to start a brand spanking new campaign. I'll have Crypt of the Everflame, which will be released in July, by then, and plenty of 3.x mods and supp.

So, will you switch your 3.x campaign over, converting the PCs to the new system? Start a new Pathfinder campaign? Or use the game as yet another sourcebook of ideas for your current campaign?

Taldor (Paizo Charter Superscriber)

I run 2 campaigns, one in 3.5 (Freeport in Greyhawk and that won't change soon, as we are fairly far along the ride) and one in Pathfinder Beta (Falcon's Hollow). This one will be adjusted to Pathfinder RPG as soon I have the new rules in my grubby fingers.

I've been using PF rules since the alpha stages now - So as soon as I have the final version of the rules, I'll just read it and switch over.

Our Sunday Campaigns still run on 3.5, but that's mainly because one player (who isn't even playing at the moment) won't play with English rules. So those will have to stay in 3e until they release a German version (there's already a company that will translate Pathfinder) - although one of the Sunday GMs asked me to run a game after his campaign, and I'll only run PF games.

I'll convert my Beta playtest campaign (set in FR) to PF RPG rules. And, I'll start a new Golarion campaign, in which I'm planning to run Council of Thieves AP, but I'm probably starting it with Crypt of the Everflame and Carrion Hill, and scale up the AP a bit.

Paizo is putting out so many quality products this year, that I'm going to be broke, but at least I'll be extremely happy! =)

Osirion (President, Jon Brazer Enterprises)

I'd like to be a player in a PFRPG game.

All things being equal (play group still gaming, etc) then my group will probably make the switch to Pathfinder, especially for games that I run. Having run both Alpha 3 and the Beta rules with them, the changes went down really well and gave me a chance to try out some other, new material. A brief dalliance with 4th edition hasn't amounted to anything long-lasting.

We're in the middle of a Scion campaign at the moment though.

Andoran (GameMastery Maps Subscriber)

I will read the Pathfinder RPG cover to cover and use it to GM Pathfinder Society scenarios in Season 1+. In addition, our weekly group host's game will change over from Beta rules to Pathfinder final rules.

As for the 3.5 games I plan to run at cons and with my weekly group (Freeport & Eberron), I will stick with 3.5.

As a DM, i am running under my own houserules, so i won't switch to Pathfinder.
I might however pick a few things here and there to use them.

As a player, well, i am not currently playing in anything, so i don't know if i will play Pathfinder RPG, although i would be happy to.

Basically, i will buy the book, as well as future supplements, but that's more for inpiration than actual use.
And that's also to support Paizo for their excellent work.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

I am currently running my group through CotCT and it looks like we will be in the latter stages of that when the game comes out. If we are close to the end (last Module or so) then we'll continue with the rules as we are using them now (Beta 1st, 3.5 for fall back) and convert to the new ruleset when we start the next campaign. Though, depending on what the rules look like and ease of conversion we may switch midstream with some or all of it.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

I'll use it to start a new campaign: CotCT/'Hogwarts in Korvosa'. I'm not sure about if/when I'd convert my home campaign from 3.5 to Pf.

Osirion (Paizo Charter Superscriber)

I'll convert my Runelords and Second Darkness games from Beta to PFRPG.

If one of those is coming close to an end, I'll probably still convert for the practice - campaign after that is uncertain.

update characters to PFRPG Final version...
90% sure i will be keeping the 3.0 magic or begin translating AE spells

(Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion, Battles Case Subscriber)

Not sure I want to see what the final is like but im sure we will finish our current campign first then go from there.

I am fairly certain it will replace the Beta which in turn replaced the PHB for our home campaign. We will still use all other 3.5 sources, like splat books etc. But PFRPG will be the new PHB for our group. Our DM, as well as our group also seem to be very happy with the Mods and plan to run each cycle as a free standing campaign for the forseeable future. In fact I would say that the arrival of PFRPG has made more of my 3.5 content usable from a player perspective because my DM saw the splat books as unbalanced when held up to the base classes....with the strengthening of the core we are allowed to "freelance" a good bit more.

If we could find the time to meet more than every other week on a consistant basis I would undoubtedly be in favor of going to PFRPG for my own game as well.

I really want to run the Shackled City hardcover again (my favorite published campaign to date), but this time updated to Pathfinder.

Andoran (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game, Campaign Setting, Companion, Modules, GameMastery Maps Subscriber)

I'll begin a new campaign with the PFRPG rules come August. Until then we'll continue fiddling around with the Beta rules, maybe in Darkmon Vale. That's our holding pattern!

-DM Jeff

Not sure if we're going to finish RotRL with the Beta or the new version. We'll probably be about halfway through at that point. I'll probably just let my players decide.

Just curious, what are AE spells?

Arcana Evolved

Andoran (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game, Campaign Setting, Companion, Battles Case Subscriber)

I'm not sure if we'll be at a point to start a new campaign or not, but either way we'll be playing PF RPG with options from 3.5 books. We may be playing 3.5 material or PF. Our options are really wide open, and that's perfect.

Qadira (RPG Superstar 2008 Top 6, Contributor)

* Read it evenings at GenCon

* Begin writing some material for it ASAP

* Convert over my Crimson Throne beta campaign, assume it is still going (t'll likely be close to the end)

* Do the same with the Second Darkness or Legacy for Fire game I'll probably have up and running by then

Jam412, here's a link to the product.

I plan on asking my group a month or two beforehand if they'll mind switching systems.

If they're up for it I'll be going through all of my materials and updating base classes (and making a few more powerful *glares at the spellknife*). Once that's done I figure it'll be smooth sailing 'till prestige classes hit, but that'll be easy to fix as I typically have my players tell me their 'build' (assuming they have one; if not then I'll just wing it) before we get too far into any one game.

If they're not up for it, then I guess I'll just stick with 3.5 and play PF on the side (likely on this very site).

If I DM: Use a mix of 3.5/Pathfinder rules as the mood strikes me.

If I'm a player: Play Pathfinder (+ bits from 3.5), if possible.

Sounds like 'leaf face' (Mairkurion) is going to have a party of Acadamae graduates take on the CotCT ...

We started two campaigns (Runelords and Crimson Throne) in 3.0/3.5. Beta came out partway through CT, and we converted then and there. We're currently running part one of Second Darkness, and it should be my turn with Crimson Throne by the time the RPG hits our hands ... so we'll convert again partway :)

I will immediately convert whatever campaign we are playing (probably runelords) to PFRPG, with the possible exception of spells staying 3.5 (depends what is done), and keep all the rest of 3.5.

When runelords is over, we'll do a small Darkmoon Vale Parenthesis, and then it's off to Korvosa we go !

I'm already using Beta in my home game, so I'll just be converting over from there. I'm trying to incorporate as much as possible from the forums -- testing feats with NPCs built for that purpose, letting the barbarian try a few of the new rage powers, etc.

Not a problem. Check out also Rite Publishing for some of its third party products for AE. Because all AE products are based off d20, they can be used with the Pathfinder RPG.

For once the mad man has it right, Joela.

Spoiler:

I don't have lots of details right now, because I'm in the brainstorming/note-making stage and I won't get to the actual decision stage until I'm not longer writing on epistemology and I have the final product, so in other words, this summer. What I do know is that it will involve slowing the AP way down and working the elements of it into a larger story-line/series of adventures in which young students enter the Academae and train up into wizards. There will need to be a lot more low level encounters that could be handled by a party of wizards (looking like a party of five pcs and one npc) planned, and finding ways to deal with the problems introduced by an all-wizard party (there may be one multi-class character in the group). What's been the most fun so far is taking the material on the Academae and thinking about how to expand it into a fully realized place (that includes some of the feel of the HP books, of which some of the players are fans, in a way that will fit in this corner of Golarion). For example, will there be a house system like at Hogwarts and how would that work with the political situation in Korvosa, the number of towers on the map, etc?

quite possibly for similar reasons like me... but i keep 3.0 insteado of 3.5

there are people that didn't liked the changes to the polymorph school and to other areas, there is a lot of magic nerfed from 3.0 to 3.5... and unfortunately the trend continued from 3.5 to Pathfinder nerfing it even more...

so i understand the feeling... the beta showed this was the trend,... the forums tell me it will kept that way or ot would be even more nerfed... i have a very little hope of magic feeling more like magic... unfortunately my hopes are not very high...

so well... i love all the game... but the magic... i can do without it... since 3.5 it doesn't feel like magic... its to mechanic, to simplistic... you need different spells to take different forms? wish is now barely the original limited wish...

things like that

but... well that is not the issue for the trend... and we can all keep what we like from it... in this regard i would just hd hopped for Pizo having takeng a more daring apporach to magic... instead of making PCs dependant on magic items... including the wizards... who should not need them

** spoiler omitted **

even when i don't like HP series in general...

my 2 cents

Spoiler:
more than houses wizards re divided by schools... being part of one school is as improtant as being in a frat, all conjurer are proud because they are the stronger faction... yer the necromancer are increasing in power... you can show this along the school

i also lied the idea of a wizard learning the art in the Acadame... just have no taste for HP... but that is my personal opinion, so don't worry about it...

Montalve (OT)

Spoiler:
Yeah, I'm going to play up the differences between wizards with different specializations, but I think I'm going to keep the idea of a "house" alongside the idea of school of magic, so that I can have all the pcs be in the same house, thus tying them together for plot and motivation reasons. It also allows me to introduce various political and social issues into the storyline. And don't worry, I'm not trying to evangelize for HP, I just want to have fun and make my players happy. I mean, JKR is cuter than Tolkien, but I have no allegiance issue like to the latter. :)

My RotRL campaign will switch from Beta to Final. I'll ask my players to please pick up a copy of the Final book. My Beta hard copy will be unrecognizable by then. (I have my 1 copy for ~9 people and a 2-year-old.)

My Shackled City campaign will likely stay in 3.5, but we may discuss changing since over half of the people in it also play in the RotRL campaign.

I have 2 mint copies of PF Beta, 1 seriously-abused copy of PF Beta and ... hrm, I wonder, do I have any table that needs that certain hieght on one leg ...

Seriously, as things presently stand, I expect to use Pathfinder-only (or extremely close to it) rules once they're in my hands.

Same group, same story. Playing Beta + 3.5e. I am glad we are now allowed to use various splat book classes without a debate. (Marshal & Scout particularly!)

(Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path Subscriber)

1. Update my campaigns from Beta to the final product
2. Update my own campaign world and write up one of the campaign ideas I have for it.

1) Start a new campaign (we're playing HARP right now for one campaign, that will be switching. I'm keeping my PbeM campaign Castles & Crusades for now).

2) Convert our homebrew world of Irrin and update old game notes.

3) As an object of (good-natured) gloating for those in my gaming circle not attending Gen Con to get their copy. :)

I'm bringing CotCT to a close under the Beta rules. My co-DM is starting the Runelords campaign under the Beta rules. We'll likely be converting once the official rulebook is out. Once I'm back behind the screen, it's time for Second Darkness...welcome to Riddleport, b****es.

Yes, this is part of the reason, though I have not followed through the details of every thread about what is nerfed or not. But I like my magic fast and deadly.

Other reason, is that some of my players are quite bad in the rules-lawyering department, and if there are too many changes, they will spend the session arguing rules, and slow the game with minutia.

if I keep the 3.5 magic, they will not.

Oh, and I am in no hurry to relearn all the spells. :)

I am playing in two home campaigns, one is 3.5 and the other is beta. Both will convert to PFRPG when the final rules come out. Any future campaigns I am involved in will be PFRPG only. Most of our gaming group will be joining the Pathfinder Society after Gen Con.

I'm kinda at a crossroads. My Beta Test group just finished RotR Lords, and I must say it was great.

For my home game, right now I don't have one, I have a few players, but life has gotten in the way with many of us so I' in effect constructing a new team and deciding on what I want to play, with their input of course.

While all this was going on I discovered Conan, but while there was a lot a liked about the game I think I done with low magic for a while. Moreover that group completly fell apart when I took a few weekends off. I got a call from one of the players saying the games over. As a side note ladies well yonger ladies, I have no problem with women players they bring a lot to the game, but in real life don't 'start' dating the GM during a game, an if you do and your character gets hurt for the love of mercy don't bring personal issues to the table.(hope no one from that group is on this board)

So to the question at hand. I'm inclined to go Pathfinder as the new source/center ruleset, but I think I'm going to add Conan ogl rules of Dodge and Parry to the game, modified so that AC remains strong. Adding a list of classes from 3pp that will need to be heavly updated to Pathfinder standards. Ironicly power wise WoC classes from splat books don't need any updating, but to be honest few players have been intersted in them. They'd rather play an Archer class then a Hexblade or a Mystic rathern then a Warlock, or a Tinker as opposed to a Duskblade. Speaking of Tinker all Tinker and Runemaster related material from WoWC RPG will also be added to Pathfinder.

I suppose this puts me into the Take what I want category but make no mistake when in comes to OGL Pathfinder will be the core.
