Shame about Goodman.
I believe that Malhavoc is pretty much not publishing anything any more. Monte was leaving the RPG scene as an active player to pursue other opportunities. I noticed that the Book of Experimental Might is being sold by Paizo and is still 3.5. So I doubt there will be much new stuff at all from Monte and Malhavoc Press.
Darn shame.

Goodman Games is lost to 4E
Not necessarily. A publisher can support 4E and other systems but not with the same brand/product line. So while the "Dungeon Crawl Classics" line may be lost to 4E, Goodman is still free to create a new line/brand and support Pathfinder through it. Whether or not they actually do this remains to be seen.

Sword and Sorcery is dead, however its IP (including the Scarred Lands setting) will be going 4e under the control of Fiery Dragon Press (the Counter Collection people).
I really liked the setting, though I didn't have a chance to get the books till after the setting was out of print. I'd consider getting the new stuff (4e or not if the flavor was well written), except as I've heard it said, they're going to be changing some rather core elements of the Scarred Lands setting to make it mesh without problems to the 4e game mechanics, design philosophy, and Points of Light campaign style.

Wow, that blows. I always got a 'Greek Mythology gone wrong' vibe from the Scarred lands. Even though the 'heat' mechanic bothered me, with bards being a hole in it. I never ran a game in it, but I used the monsters in my own games to great effect.

That said, if I heard wrong, someone correct me please.
When the final Pathfinder RPG comes out I'm sure you'll get some companies to join up, in fact I suspect you'll see most independent companies doing something along the lines of supporting pathfinder.
However realisticly you will not see this to the same extent as the in the days of the D20 boom time. This only makes sense, make limited runs supporting varies lines means sales, while doing lots and lots of stuff supporting 4e has an already proven outcome, less and less sales in a more and more crowded market almost forcing them to make their own publishing house rules/lines.

Of these the first two continue fine. AE has stopped, so to WOW I think, though if they stayed in print it was its own PH/setting that could continue (in a way that Pathfinder is doing). Midnight while not completly its own rules set was distinct enough for me to regard it as such, but I have no idea which way they are going.
Of these books and their respective companies I think only True 20 has supported 3pp, (ie allowing them to use the name true20).
Paizo isn't just doing that, but is attempting (so far as I understand) to replace Wizards as the leader of OGL system, the new center for that system. As such its only logical that other companies do some work to support them. But Pathfinder has an added benfit that most compines intersted in supporting the line are ones that have been successful, know the system (because they've worked there own 'house system' from the core source) so they will not produce junk into the market. They are not as dependet on Paizo so we wont get 5 to 10 books a month thus glutting the market with stuff that while it might be good consumers simply cannot afford to buy all of it.
Please don't misunderstand, I not saying they will replace and beat 4e, but if your a fan of Pathfinder, I think 2009 will be a very happy new year.

I was thinking more the "Well, that's a surprise!" kind of surprising, not the "Elizabeth, this is the big one! I'm coming to join you, honey!" kind of surprising.
Companies that would surprise me:
- West End Games (because if they actually produced anything ever again, it would surprise me)
- Mongoose (well, this really wouldn't be a surprise, but still it would still give me a moment's pause)
- Palladium (they largely do their own thing so producing under the OGL now would surprise me)
- Whoever is doing Dark Herasy
- White Wolf (I mean they recently sold off all their d20 stuff so they'd be starting from scratch)
- TSR (That would certainly be a surprise, wouldn't it)
Companies that wouldn't surprise me:
- Green Ronin
- Necromancer
- LPJ Designs
- Tricky Owl Bear
- XRP (even if they are doing 4e stuff)
- Adamant
- AEG
- ... And pretty much anyone that ever produced 3.5 material that didn't go 4E.
Companies that would really surprise me:
- Stephen Colbert (because I am sure Colbert fans would start publishing RPG material, if he said on air that his fans should)
- Southwest Airlines
- Penguin Books
- The Trump Organization, and
- Cambell's Soup
Maybe the 'Big 3' will be producing RPG material under pathfinder license to help get out of their financial woes?...
Though I don't think that will help them...

Yea, I can't wait to see the new classes from Ford:
the Explorer (variant of the basic ranger),the Taurus (their Fighter/Monk variant that focuses on bull rush)
the Focus (new kind of Arcanist)
the Crown Victoria (playable aristocrat)
and of course the F-150. It uses twice the resources of all other classes, but all damage dealt to it is cut in half.
