I'm looking forward to receiving the beta, but I just had to print out a couple copies of the alpha 3 last night for a con, which takes place this weekend.
Any idea when this is going to hit stores? Given the fact that this is not a subscription item, and that the sub items already add up to $91 this month, I was figuring it would be nice to support my local store and pick up a couple of copies retail. I feel bad about how little I am supporting my FLGS these days, however I feel like it's not so easy to do when Paizo seems to ship direct a month before stuff hits store shelves. Will that be the case here?

I would be ecstatic if the PDF was available before August 9th :D
My sister-in-law used to work for UPS and her sister moved to Kansas and met someone who used to work in the Seattle Fed-Ex office. His brother, who still lives in Seattle, told him when he was delivering flowers at the shop across the street from Paizo HQ that there was a pizza being delivered to the shop next door to Paizo.
My theory is that the Beta has arrived and the Paizo staff had the celebratory pizza delivered to the business next door so their fans wouldn't suspect and start clamoring for it's early release. It's only a theory but I'm pretty confident.

It's a nice theory, but it falls apart with your informant.
There are apartments across the street from Paizo.
Paizo is in an office building. The shop "next door" to Paizo would be on the 2nd floor, back in a hallway to the right of the elevator. Either that, or I believe Zebra Printing, which is over the hedge, next door.
So, your sister-in-law's sister's friend's brother is in error.
(and now my head hurts....)
It depends on when it arrives in our warehouse, but the retail release date will probably be either the 20th or the 27th.

Is there no way to get a PDF sooner? :( I held off starting my CotCT game for a month or so to hopefully be in time with the Beta, but now it looks like we might be a couple weeks off.
Shouldn't be a big problem, that's only 2-3 sessions of Alpha 3 before it comes. I'm just really jonesin' to know what the differences are in relation to what my players will be. :) I'm sure they'd love to know as well.
The Beta Previews really do help, at least we know the Wizard and Ranger are changed a bit and the bonus skill point/hit point thing is good to know. Just call me impatient. ;)
As far as I know Beta will be available at GenCon and there are no plans to ship it before then to people that ordered it. Honestly, I don't see why it matters, whether Paizo has it or not right now, there's still plenty of business days before GenCon for them to get it.

Much like fans camping outside a bookstore anticipating the newest Harry Potter release, or paying others vast sums of money to hold their place in queue to secure the next Playstation release. Yeah, I'd regard the Pathfinder Alpha release as bigger than either of those!

That's nothing. I obsessively refreshed the site in anticipation for the announcement of products coming out next year.

Careful not to crease any of those pages, Lisa. I've pre-ordered 8 of those as birthday presents for my players - yes, I've told them they're all celebrating on the same day this year.
Any chance that you folks might move that up a day or two? Seems like having those of us who want to print it, bring it and run it (I.E., promote your product...) able to bring a ready copy would be in your best interest. Me, I'm buying a hard copy at Gencon, but I have 5 friends who wanted to have their own printed copy . ready to go. Yes, we could try and find a wifi connection, somewhere to print it (For a small fortune) in Indy, and then get it together, but that is quite a hassle.
-Uriel
PS: How many copies will you have at Gencon? I'm even willing to pay the full price, just to have it there, instead of buying it at 30% off (I still get my employee discount at the store where I used to work) a mere 2 days after the Con. That's how much I want the damned thing.
I suppose if I fail to get a copy, I'll just run HARP all con instead of splitting my time between it and PF...

*DROOLS*
If gamers had their own kind of phone-s*x, I'd bet it would look alot like your above statement, Lisa.
Does this last post show Lisa's alignment (or world view) to be Lawful Evil?
I think so. She is following the company line of not releasing it early, but she is Taunting us. She is the anti paladin of Paizo now right?
Jamie
I've always thought of myself more as Chaotic Good. I generally have the good interests of everyone in mind, but it can be a little hard to figure out from my actions. My desk is an absolute mess, though I tend to know where everything is. And I love to playfully rib folks about things. Like this wonderful Beta I am running my fingers over. The pages are so silky and smooth. It speaks to me about things like CMB. Ahhhhhh. :)

Most honored Priestess of Paizo please do not deny your loyal populace the pleasure to peruse your popular printings. Purty please?

Wow...that's some dang nice alliteration there.
And I'm not sure Lisa is as much acting Chaotic Good as Chaotic....greedy. No, wait, I take that back. The fact that she's releasing Pathfinder at all makes her good by default.

Thank you. I've found when begging it doesn't hurt to stand out from the crowds calling for a kindness. :-)
