There's a lot of ideas being posted on these boards. Not all, or even most of them will get into the actual Pathfinder RPG rules. Some of them might be great ideas, just not right for Pathfinder. But it seems to me to be a shame to let all these ideas go to waste.

So I think Paizo should make a book of alternate rules for the Pathfinder RPG, like the 3.5 book Unearthed Arcana. It'd have race and class variants, alternate rules and such like that book collected from these forums as well as Paizo's own ideas. What do you think?

Given the sheer amount of various things being discussed here, I think it would be great to have some kind of collection (whether PDF or print) of good stuff that didn't make it in to the core PRPG book.

I vote yes!

Was thinking the same think. Ditto!

I'd think that wherever Paizo goes w/ the ultimate "backwards compatibility" feature set for the final version of PFRPG, there will be lots of fans who really wanted more of a 3.75 than a tweaked 3.5. A book of options, pushing the envelope more than the tweaked 3.5, would instantly appeal to those fans.

This could be a good way to address all the good ideas from these boards that don't "make the cut" but could have but for space reasons, or whatever. We all love to try new things. As long as new options are relatively balanced and not early signs of power creep per se, it could be a big hit.

I think this is the best way to go. Unearthed Arcana-style rules can allow the designers to add in some of the thing that they (and us forumgoers) feel can improve the 3.5 rules, without having to worry as much about compatibility.

This discussion got me thinking; is there an existing "Unearthed Arcana" style wiki where players can submit their house-rules/alternate rules for _3.x_ (not other versions) in a structure way with sub categories (for easy navigation)?

If not, maybe someone should start one? I don't know how to start one (or even contribute to one) but I see people submit them on forums all the time, and then they are lost in the miasma of replies and criticisms.

Definetly a great idea. A Pathfinder RPG book of Options is almost a must if you ask me!

Use the best from Unearthed Arcana's open material, updated to PRPG, and add lots of options for all kinds of things. There's so much good stuff floating around here, and then there might be stuff from the Alpha versions that are good ideas but will ultimately be dropped....

Definately what the doctor ordered. Unearthed Arcana was the best non-core book I own. And I own about 25 amazing other ones.
