Let me start by saying how please I am with what Paizo is doing. While I don't agree with their rule suggestions 100%, I'm interested in the path the company is taking with 3.5.

I have heard nothing about a d20 Modern spin-off on the horizon, but that doesn't stop me from asking any other fans of the d20 Modern setting whether you've begun to envision a Pathfinder Modern.

The classes and talen systems likely need the most work done, so as to be compatible with Pathfinder. But other than that, weapons and gear are pretty much a straight-forward drag and drop . . . and d20 Modern/Urban Arcana, can pretty much mooch off Pathfinder's spell bank.
Skills will possibly need an overhaul, unless Paizo takes on skills a little more thoroughly than it is currently doing. (I've listed what I perceive to be a comprehensive skill list on the Skills and Feats thread.)

So, anyone beginning to move down this road?

D20 Modern never interested me personally. I've been very happy with other options for modern day / urban sci-fi like World of Darkness and Shadowrun, among others.

But that's just me. I certainly have known some folks who love having one baseline system for everything.

I get the impression d20 modern was never very popular.

Maybe that will change when it (eventually) gets updated to 4th edition, but I doubt it.

Personally, I'd love to see Paizo's take on it, but I doubt it would be commercially viable. Presumably they also have a lot less experience of the system than they do with D&D, although I could be wrong and it might not matter anyway.

I liked the concepts behind D20 modern, but never thought the mechanics were right. I can do an itemized list when it gets to that point. That said, I don't think I'd even attempt to do a backwards-compatable D20 modern.

I guess that I'm one of those odd ducks out there who fell in love with the setting. So much, in fact, that I've belt bridges between D&D and d20 Modern. Not regularly, but I have at least one Chosen (of Mask nonetheless) slinking around the streets of NYC trying to uncover a plot between Shar and Cyric. (Cormyr revised.)

Anyone I've played with who have played d20 Modern have really enjoyed it.

If anything, I'd encourage those Paizo engineers who have made d20 Modern House Rules and revisions in personam, to share them with us.

Maybe you're right - there doesn't seem to be a huge draw to the setting. But indy films are rarely intended to reach as huge an audience as Paramount Pictures . . . but that speaks nothing about the quality of the film. Same thing here, d20 Modern is a great engine . . . and just because it doesn't have a lot of draw doesn't mean that it should be forgotten.

I've always been rather impressed with D20 Modern, particularly D20 Past. We've run through a couple of Pulp-era games using that system and it really worked great. I'd love to see what Paizo could do with it!

I'm in the same boat. I like D20 Modern. I think the settings have some good ideas to them. I do usually have to modify the games to make them really work well with my story lines. I have I am working on now and was actually looking at the Prpg to see how best I could utilize what it had to offer.

Races were easy, just cut and pace... the classes would take a lot more effort so I have not touched on them just yet. I currently working on modifying the skill list to work as Pathfinder list does with just the modern bend to it.

Put my vote in for Pathfinder Modern (or Past, or Future). I've been contemplating cross-breeding Pathfinder and d20 Future for a cybernetics campaign.

Sorry, but I´m against this. For one, I would rather like paizo concentrate on the direction they have taken now with pathfinder, and not dilute their creative juices. What´s more, a pathfinder modern would be a variant of a variant - how much smaller can a niche get?
(And personally, I would rather use level-less systems for modern-day games. If you take Adventure! from White Wolf, I´d always prefer the original over the d20 variant. But that is my personal taste.)

Was always happy with how d20 modern worked. I was disappointed they never did more prestige and advanced classes for it.

The campaign I'm running right now wraps up Memorial Day weekend. My next campaign will begin in September or October. I will be, in the meantime, modernizing the PRPG rules for my second campaign (which takes place in the near future). So yes, I do envision such a thing. Will such a thing ever see print? Doubt it. But maybe some day I'll throw my stuff up as a PDF or something. :)

I SECOND THAT!!

I've been thinking about this myself a fair bit and while I would love to see Paizo resurect d20 Modern in some form, I came to the conclusion that we wouldn't see it for a long time yet, if at all. If nothing else, they'll be so busy with the various Pathfinder products (including the launch of the full rulebook at next years Gencon) that there simply wouldn't be time for it.

But if it WERE to come into exsistence, you can sign me up for a $50 purchase! God knows the game deserves better support than what it got. I miss Polyhedron...

Hasn't the D20 Modern update niche already been filled by True 20 and Spycraft 2.0? It already has good support of the kind Paizo will provide for D&D by producing Pathfinder. I just don't see any need for a Pathfinder Modern.

Wow... this whole thought of a Toril into the modern age setting actually totally makes me tingle :)

>>Anyone starting to envision a Pathfinder Modern?

I am not. Actually, since d20 Modern came out my group has been fiddling with it off and on in pick up games ever since and found it nearly flawless, we don't have any gripes at all.

Delta Green
Doctor Who
Reality Jumpers
Star Frontiers

It handles it all without fail so we don't see an evoloution of the game as a necessity. Then again we said the same thign about 3.5 D&D. We must be too easy...

I would love to see it.

I am running a d20 modern game currently and plan on using modifying a few pathfinder adventures for my game.

I have already looked at using some of the Pathfinder RPG ideas (such as CMB).

One of the things I like about d20 Modern is that it is easily customized to nearly any setting. I have been toying with a low magic fantasy setting using d20 modern. I will probably mix in some of the Pathfinder RPG rules and some ideas from Monte Cook's Book of Experimental Might (I and II).
