Can we go to ten minutes/level for buffs, rather than 3.5's one minute/level? As it is these spells seem barely worth casting because they won't last for any length of time.

On page 65 there is a rule of limiting enhancements that seems to be geared towards minimizing this concern.
Personally, I've never found the number of buff spells to be a problem. Generally, I don't have more than 1 or 2 up anyway. But in those fights when you need them... you need more than 3.
I think that extending the duration or simplifying durations would be a simpler solution. If it is "rounds/level" make it equal to the duration of the encounter. If it is minutes per level, bump it up to 10 minutes per level (I like that, cuts down on asking the DM "how long were we searching for cool stuff?" after every encounter).

Or even back to the 3.0 hour/level would make the adventuring day last longer and be easier to keep track of. I currently use this as a house rule.
