We've put a lot of work into the Pathfinder RPG, and I'm happy to announce today that we are launching a new game system for the RPG, based in large part on customer playtest feedback.

Please see the announcement here.

PS: We also posted new cover mock-ups for the Core Rulebook and the Bestiary.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

AHAHAHAHA!

AWESOME! CAN'T WAIT! BEST PAIZO PRODUCT EVER!

EDIT: Is this backwards compatible with the d19 system?

I'll have to get my crayons out, to re-ink my dice.

(RPG Superstar 2009 Top 16, 2012 Top 32)

Ah, I was waiting for some sort of announcement like this.

It's like the d20 System... turned up to 11! (Or 21, in this case.)

Cheliax (Pathfinder Superscriber)

Hahaha ... Oh fond memories ... must now pull out This is Spinal Tap for some afternoon viewing.

ROFL!! Excellent!

Andoran (RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32, 2011 Top 16)

What monster is the big central one on the cover?

That's a troll with one massive underbite.

That's a troll, my friend.

(Edit : Ninjaed by a monocular monster...)

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

I'm so happy to see the goblins on the bestiary cover.
Is that a Marilith in the background?
This whole thing made my day.

Better because of that extra +1 on the die? Awesome! Can't wait until it's released! :-)

Taldor (Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber)

Heheh.
Fantastic.

Don't throw out those old d20's yet. I found a way to convert them and I'm writing up a how-to.

I've heard that it comes with a special 6-sided die to convert d20 stuff to d21. Each side is labeled with one of the special d21 conversion factors:

* Runes
* Lovecraft
* Spikes
* Cleavage
* Anachronisms
* Disgusting

So you pick a boring monster like dire boars, roll the die, and you end up with awesome d21 runeboars!

I liked the 21 differences!

I appreciated that if you're going to have a gag, at least Paizo also pads it with something actually interesting to look at read too...

Sweet, it looks much better than previous trolls. Now they won't have to bite their own noses off anymore to attack.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

What's your prob, Joel? I mean, if that nose doesn't move, it just grows back ;)

Yeah, the spoilers mean that Paizo does d20 more than just one better!

No takers on my marilith question?

It's a marilith.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

Thanks, Erik.

Maybe that's why they had such a bad temper?

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

Hey, if they'll pull their guts out to read the future, what's a little nose here and there?

A whole new meaning to "picking your nose"? :)

I was thinking, biting your nose to spite your face. :)

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion Subscriber)

"Couldn't you just make 21 the 20?"

"But... this one goes to 21."

[tongue+cheek=(outside of, see troll)]

It makes so much sense and is easy to convert on the fly. All these people complaining about additional math should get a basic calculator or set of counting stones.

[/tongue+cheek]

(Still would have loved to have seen Seelah on the cover of the main book. Call it a hold over from mocking... other covers.)

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Campaign Setting, Companion, Modules Subscriber)

I, for one, am less than enthusiastic about this new d21 system. I've spent years accumulating various d20 dice, and to have them made obsolete in one moment is very disappointing. I refuse to buy any d21's - would it be allowed to simply roll three of my d7's?

In other news, whoo hoo!!!! Goblins on the cover! Goblins on the cover! I can see that little guy standing obliviously under the troll's chin yelling at a fleeing adventurer "Ya! You better run from me, stupid human!"

Ooooh! I was wondering what the final Bestiary cover would be like. Nice!

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game, Modules Subscriber)

d21???

But that's going to throw out the bell curve on all of my random goblin tables!

Reggie.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Campaign Setting, Companion, Modules Subscriber)

This is hardly a new idea.

We have been using a d21 for years

No chance of rolling a 1 means no chance of fumble

: )

Better yet! It's forewards compatible with 21st Edition D&D.

Finally, somebody is talking about a real issue: forward compatibility.

If I hear another grognard whining about backward compatibility, I'm going to choke them to death on my shiny new d21s.

You know that's the goblin who's about to cut an important body part off of himself though.

ROVAGUG NOT KNOW WHAT 21 IS. ROVAGUG ONLY GO TO 20.

Your sucky d21 system is already rife with brokeness I tell you! I'm developing the True 21 System for serious gamerz!

Damn, there's an error in the system. This should be "Turd Ferguson", alias of Burt Reynolds!

That can't be a troll. It has no keyboard, and no dragon poop.

Did not see why Druids, Rogues, and Barbarians don't Suck. Can not wait until these books come out.

Because they do now.

(Just joking.)

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

Looking back over everything, it just struck me. Paizo's logo, made only for April Fool's Day, looks better than the one originally created for d20. Wow.

Andoran (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Roleplaying Game, Campaign Setting, Companion, Battles Case Subscriber)

Hey,

What I noticed was the expected release date of the Bestiary has changed to September. Wasn't it supposed to be out in July?

When did this change?

WELL! Bout time this place got interesting!

You mean the logo I threw together in ten minutes at the last moment, with the aim of making it as cheesy as possible? Sweet.

(Pathfinder Adventure Path, Tales, Battles Case Subscriber)

I kid you not, PMG.

That's just hilarious. It says volumes. You may say it says volumes about me, but I'm gonna say it says volumes about other folk.

About a month ago. After a while it became apparent that trying to do a monster book before the core rules were finalized was a terrible idea, 1st Edition AD&D be damned.

Well you got my approval and a few others in my gaming group as they were a little concerned about having monsters before actual play guidelines.
