I'm thinking of setting an adventure in the alchemists quarter of the styes. Does anyone have any good ideas for mid level creatures to challenge my players. So far I've got the alchemists themselves, golems, and toxic oozes.

I'm actually running a Styes campaign right now (that I haven't been keeping up with on the campaign journal, but I digress). Maybe try mutated lab animals or humans, either as a result of experiments or from rooting around in the effluvia that sits stagnant in the canals.

Wasn't there a Dragon article about alchemical mutations in D&D?
I remember something about a Zombie, and some form of ooze...

There's an Alkilith (Fiend Folio), an alchemical demon, but it's CR 14.
