The board ate my first post so I will put in a much shorter version. For Blackwall Keep(Chapter 3)a poster-map is supposed to come with the magazine. What are the dimensions of the battlefield on the map?

There is also a website that has player created resources for AoW, SCAP, and STAP. I always forget to bookmark it. Can someone point me to it?

www.therpgenius.net

Its quite small, the poster map is four 11x8 in size, and really just gives you details of the stable and main tower. Its a shame the map wasn't included in the magazine at smaller size, for those who loose it or buy secondhand or PDF.

Yeah, it's ridiculously tiny. When I ran the module, I put two Megamats side by side instead and drew out the entire surrounding landscape -- all 68" x 48" of it. My players had a blast with the huge layout to battle in, which helped substantially as I'd upped the number and quality of foes they were fighting as well.

It is ridiculously tiny. I am no longer disappointed I did not order a 2nd magazine now. He will not leave the gate unless he deems it absolutely necessary. Instead of 4 EL 5's and 2 EL 6's; I will have 1 EL 7 guardian creature at the front door and 5 EL 5's. The one EL 7 will be the guardian creature if the PC's attempt to come in through the front door. If the EL'7 realizes it is about to lose the fight against the PC's it will call for help and then try to smash the door/gate of the castle, or at least weaken it so the lizardfolk can get in easier.

Check these boards for some very neat suggestions on how to adjust this adventure.

I made a larger battle map for use with MapTool :
BlackWall Keep low res.

You will find a larger amount of battlemaps here

Hope this helps.

What is Maptool? I have heard about it before, but never really looked into it? What does it do for me as a DM?

Any info will be appreciated.

MapTool (here) is a Virtual Table Top (VTT).
Basicaly it shows a digital map where you can move digital tokens.
I use it in face to face games with a laptop on the DM side and one on the players side linked to a large screen (see here).
It is possible to have only one laptop with two instance of MapTool.
It is very confortable in game because the DM view shows all the dungeon to the DM (monsters already in place and so on) while the players only see what their PCs have discovered.
It saves printing and tedious token movents.
It has a very cool light/vision system continually improved.

Hah!

I wish I'd had that set-up, during that labyrinth!
Would have saved me loads of brain-ache.

Fascinating. I'll definitely have to check that out. And Snorter's right, that would be invaluable in running the labyrinth or any other locale where the players have limited knowledge of their surroundings. Thanks!

One thing to add to the discussion ... MapTool is FREE! As are all of the other tools from RPTools.net: TokenTool, DiceTool, InitiativeTool, and CharacterTool. (Those last two are usually called InitTool and CharTool, for short.)

WotC even included MapTool in its latest survey of the VTT market. :)

Running Age of Worms in 4e, this is what I did:
Photo Album

I used World Works Games and Fat Dragon Games to build the props. Obviously, I spiced the battle up a bit too.

That's a great battlefield. I would've loved to play in that encounter!
