Isle of Last Resort Question
drsparnum,

How did Darl Quethos get through the portal and reach the island?

drsparnum,

Also, can celestial and fiendish creatures be summoned? The adventure specifically forbids spells that summon creature's from the astral plane and plane of shadow. I would have thought all summoned creatures have to travel through the astral, but the adventure doesn't specifically mention a problem with summon monster.

Plot device?

Whew... been a while since I worked on this one...

There should be no problem summoning monsters from places other than the Shadow or the Astral. As for how Darl and his buddies got into the demiplane... I have vague protomemories that he DID have a way to get in there, and that said method is hidden in the text SOMEwhere...

(starts sifting through old adventure, gets distracted by the awesome art of Krekie)

Ah HA!

Darl got into the demiplane through the portal by using Use Magic Device. Or more precisely, by ordering his buddy Krekie to open the portal using the skill. She stays behind on the mainland because she's got the skill to follow and open the portal, in any case.

drsparnum,

Thanks James.

I saw on p69 that Krekie (one of the best pics ever) would follow the party with UMD, but I didn't see that she got Darl through with UMD in the first place. In the adventure, or not in the adventure, it works for me.

Also, as an employee of a pharmaceutical company, let me say I sincerely appreciate your continued support of your "off-patent" product: Age of Worms.
