As I take my group into the last 4 adventures of the Age of Worms, I realize that my seemingly impressive figure collection is becoming less and less useful.
I just don't have the number of dragon's and giants required to run a proper looking King's of the Rift and the final battle in the Rift Canyon dream sequence in Library of Last Resort will not be nearly as impressive when I have a bunch of human soldiers standing in for half of the Swords of Kyuss.
I think it's time for me to transition (or at least supplement) to a 2D figure system. I have heard in several places on these messageboards that people have had success with printed out monster tokens and the like, but I can't find any of the products in the store for the life of me and I can't seem to dig up any of the boards where they were talked about. I have a pretty nice color printer and I think this is the way to go for me and my group, especially with our limited budget nowadays.
Any suggestions?

The various Counter Collections, done by Fiery Dragon, sound like what you're after. I love my miniatures, but its cool to have these as backups. Plus you get great artwork from Claudio Pozas. I checked and Paizo has a good deal of them for sale through their online store.

Get the digital counter collection, which gives you all of them up through a certain date (tons of counters). I have created some templates you can use to make Medium, Large, Huge, Gargantuan and Colossal tokens from the pictures. http://www.wku.edu/~charles(dot)plemons/dm_tips/

What kind of time frame are you thinking of? I'd be happy to make up a color .pdf and email it to you if you wanted something to just print and cut out.
It's not hard to do once I get the time to sit down and do it, but I couldn't promise to get to it in the next couple of days.
Just post a list of how many of each type of critter you want.

Start saving the Avatars here. They are practically counters.
I use Photo Explosion Deluxe.
Print them out tiled on cardstock and you have an army.

I've run into the same problem, so I've been making my own minis. I scan the creature pics in from the appropriate book, format them to the right size in Image Composer, print them out on cardstock, then a little folding and tape and voila, my very own stand up minis.
Sure, they aren't fancy, but I can make any mini I need up to Colossal with the templates I've set up and they all have the correct picture on them. None of my players have complained yet.

If it saves a step, I've been able to pull all the WotC pictures straight from their website. No foolin', they have an art section that includes every picture from every book they're publishing. Between easy .jpgs of all the monster books and the illustrations I can pull from Paizo's online supplements, I've yet to be at a loss for an appropriate image for a critter token.

If you wouldn't mind, I would love the link to that particular section of WotC, I have a hard time navigating their site. I use pictures from books (scanning of course) to make personalized character sheets for our players, reworking the photos in adobe, sometimes adding their faces to the pic. I would love to skip the scanning part.

Here is a program for making tokens out of any artwork you can find online. TOKEN TOOL. I haven't used it yet but the other tools on the site seem to work decently.

That will definately save me several steps! Thanks a bunch, Fletch!
