Hey folks, while I appreciate having the blog entries repeated to Twitter, I really don't like that the attached links take me to facebook pages, which then link to the actual blog post. It's not so bad once, but if I try to follow two or three in a row, it gets old really quickly.

I realize you're probably using a facebook repeater, but there are plenty of RSS repeaters that feed to Twitter directly.

My concern is that if we feed an RSS of the blog directly to twitter, it will include just the title of the blog and the first few words, which will often sound like nonsense. I suspect that might be even MORE annoying.

Would that be better for you?

The Facebook page is only a day old and we're still trying to familiarize ourselves with the functionality. I'm definitely open to criticisms and comments about how we can improve this stuff.

Someone on the Twitter feed suggested I use Tweet Deck. Anyone have any experience with that program?

Also, if we want to feed the blogs to Facebook, *and* we want to feed other Facebook content to Twitter, then adding the blog directly to Twitter would either double up the blog (if we didn't also remove the Facebook feed) or eliminated the non-blog Facebook content (if we did remove it).

The current RSS feed that we pull from the blog onto the main page of the wiki just lists the title. That might be a product of the wikimedia plug-in that does the aggregating, though, rather than the feed itself.

That's confusing. I think the solution is to add everything manually. Where are those interns?

I use Tweet Deck for the groups function the most. You can post to Facebook and Myspace from it, though I haven't use that ability.
I have used Socialthing and Ping to multi-post to twitter & facebook at the same time. (I think Social thing is going through some changes and may not be taking new users...)
There are many multi-posting tools out there.
Tweet Deck is a good program to use, I think it's strongest asset is the multiple columns you can set up.

I agree with you :). I believe there are repeaters meant especially for blogs that will tweet "New blog post: [title]", though most of the ones I've seen used look to be wordpress/blogger plugins, and I know you use custom software.

I also see Vic's point that this would make any sort of automated Facebook feed difficult.

Sorry; I wish I could suggest a solution :S. Thinking about it, I have problems with this kind of integration myself, and you're working with more content.

I've used Tweetdeck myself. It's a twitter client that has optional Facebook support. I believe it only does status updates, however, which wont help you post links in quite the same fashion.

I agree!

Would be great if the was another solution to this "problem".

Tweetdeck is a great twitter tool. You can also see Facebook and Myspace feeds and updates from it now, too. With Tweetdeck you can have Facebook, myspace, and twitter all post the same thing at once so you don't have to use different apps for it.

It is times like this where I ask "WWCD?"

What would Cayden Do?

Though the answer is never as productive as many would hope, it is always more fun!
