Hey, I just noticed that some folks around here have new symbols next to their avatar names, and none of those folks is me! What gives? Haven't I been good to you people? Don't I at least deserve a nice little silhouette of a zombie munching some guys brain. Come on, throw me a brain here!

They show the affiliation to a faction of the Pathfinder Society.
You can choose your own here.
Go into "My Account" at the top of the screen and set your Pathfinder Society faction. To Cheliax, of course, since the rest of those fools are either too busy trying to sell things, promote "freedom", restore their fallen empire, or... restore their fallen empire while wearing really silly looking puffy shirts.

Pathfinder Society organized play, the PDF is out. They represent the factions for the different areas like Qadira, Osirion, Andoran, etc...
I'll post as my Qadira alternate to show mine off.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmBRAINS! Im a nomad. I belong to no factions! Though the little superscript avatars are a really neat touch. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea.
Unless, you get a faction that uses Randy Rhodes' Flying V guitar as an avatar. RAWK!!

I am just going to wait and see what all the cool people on the board choose and then copy them.
Asmodeus suggests you select Cheliax.

And these two hulking fiends... ehm, friends from the lower planes are just following you for no particular reason.
You know, it's dangerous out there. Bad things can happen. Better stay on the safe side, uh?
Yep, and that's about it. The bluebirds have cookies, the dung beetles have some dusty old relics, the crown-wearing fools have too much money and not enough sense to spend it on worthwhile things, and the scimitar swingers over there *points at Qadira* are too busy trying to sell things to the crown-wearers.
Meanwhile we of the circled cross simply spend our time on plotting the takeover of Absalom and Golarion as a whole. Join a winner. Join Cheliax.
Edit: Remember, if you join us now, you'll be safe* when we manage to overthrow the rest of Golarion. (*Note: not a guarantee of safety if our diabolical overlords decide to invalidate our bargains.)
I have to say there seems to be a lot more excitement about the launch of PFS over Living Forgotten (erm, Living Realms ;) ) then again I spend a LOT more time here than anywhere 4E related.

In reality, all members of the PFS are Andorans, since they're exercising their right to choose any faction they want. Even the misguided ones who choose Cheliax are still supporting Andoran, simply by having the right to choose. We'll bring them around once they see that being able to follow their dreams without anyone else impeding them is the best way to go.
Was there ever any doubt at all which faction I would go for?
The Guide to Korvosa should have been the first hint. My write-up of Cheliax in the PCCS hardcover was the second, although to be fair there's probably no way you could know I wrote that section. ;)
I do love me some lawful. ^_^

yup. Freedom. Freedom, and cookies...and maybe some pie. I could really go for some pie right now >_>
Oh noes, how will my Hero Worship be able to stand the test of a different Faction!!!
It's easy. We form a coalition. Let's get those Andoran hippies but good! "Peace, love, equality, and voting. Blah blah blah. Here's a flower. Blah blah blah. Let's all pile in the back of my Alkenstar Bus and smoke some flayleaf. Blah blah... whoa... I've got the munchies..."

;D
Foolish Chelish dragon. We had to fight for our freedom and win it while you cowards turned to dark powers to ease your fears of life without a master. The fire of freedom is lit and will burn in the hearts of the populace until all have been freed from the yoke of tyrants like you.
Or, to use more modern parlance, bring it on, devil kisser. ;-)

Silly human, we let you go. And if it wasn't for us in the first place, you would have been mired under the decadent yoke of pathetic Taldor for a thousand years. And then, really, you would be totally pathetic, like those losers.
Hippies? Last I checked, we Andorans weren't exactly peacenicks ;)
Eagles and Hawks are indeed birds of a feather. As I'll be MORE than happy to show, extensively, and in great detail, to any Chelaxian who wanders within range of my sword.
