I kind of like it. Adds a nice touch to the day. Plus it is effecting previous posts also. Happy April Fool's Day everyone

Good one.
The first post I started to read, I thought "WTF?," then I remembered the date.

Genius!
I started straight in the Savage Tide board and first thought it was just James Jacobs who was doing it. Then I started to notice posts I'd already read were full of all sorts of nautical nonsense.
Laugh? It almost fixed my hangover :)

Savage Tide is all pirates all the time. The A Civil Religious Discussion thread is temporarily not so civil. The customer service forum was supposed to be untouched, but then we split them out into multiple forums after I wrote the April Fools code, so I'm going to have to go into the office and fix that.

I love this!! My husband, F2K, came and got me out of bed to come see what was done. It seems like it must have taken a LOT of work to make all the posts different! Great PR, too. What a good way to keep everyone on the boards all day! Wonderful idea!

It warms my shrivelled up heart to think that someone sat and coded all of this mayhem, just to use it for one day. That's love right there. The kind of love that can only exist between a crew of men and women and their website. The Federal government may not recognize and celebrate that love to the fullest extent of the law (filthy fascists!) but we do, Paizo staff. We do.

When will the smurf code be removed? It was a great april fool's joke and all, but it's just annoying after a while.

Yes - it was funny, but not that funny, and it is now April 2nd. It really f~s up the play-by-post, since we are trying to be in-character.

You can blame me for the fact that the filters are still running even though it's not April Fools Day anymore. When Lisa caught wind of what we were planning for the messageboards, she said she wished April Fools would last forever.... And of course I took her literally.
I'll turn them off as soon as I can figure how to do it. I inserted tab A into slot B, and it wouldn't quite fit, so I had to use some superglue and duct tape, and now it's just this kind of big wad of crusty stuff. I might need a hammer and chisel. Maybe some paint thinner. And possibly a rock.

Flamethrowers might help.

OK, everything's back to normal now. Well, as normal as this place gets.
For the curious, here's the list of filters: Warez, Fudd, Pirate, Schultz, Drawl, the Blue one which I shall not name, OldeEnglish and AngryGuy. There was also Chef and PigLatin. Chef didn't make the cut because it wasn't that good. PigLatin got the axe because it made reading posts absolutely painful.
AngryGuy was Vic's idea, and possibly my favorite, though Pirate is of course a classic. I like Fudd for its utter simplicity -- just a handful of rules and hilarity ensues. The code for all these is loosely based on existing "talkfilter" code, but rewritten from scratch for our messageboards. I added a Shakespearean insult generator, and created a D&D-specific pirate curse generator preloaded with 380 D&D deities.
Every filter swapped "rogue" and "rouge". ("Wogue" and "wouge" for Fudd, of course). "Warforged" became "magical robots" (AngryGuy complained of "frakking magical robots").
Long-lasting effects: The Blue-filter-which-shall-not-be-named is also a fairly simple ruleset. I shall not name it for reasons which will become obvious (if it's not obvious already).
There is one more residual side-effect of the April Fools code which I am not going to describe here. Let's see if anybody notices (and you won't see it today).

Well the fact that we still sometimes become smurfs seems pretty obvious ... or is that a glitch? OR is it keyed to something we're typing in our posts?? hmmm...
EDIT: oh, ok, people figured it out before I did. Ah well, I felt smart for a minute...

Actually, the [redacted]ing of posts isn't what I was referring to. It's something else.
You'll see it tomorrow if you look in the right place.
