Mmmm in two minds about this mini [i have it pre-ordered]... looks great, very dynamic pose etc, but I'm more used to seeing Harsk in the "iconic" pose - with Crossbow coming to bear etc, rather than his axe. Looks more wizened than weathered... could just be the pic though...

Even though Reaper is releasing this mini for the first time, it was born as a Crocodile Games project, and they weren't so much about the direct translation of art to mini. From what I've seen, Reaper's original sculpts are holding more true to the original art.

Do these minis come unpainted as the product description states or painted which is what the image shows? If unpainted, I would prefer that the image shown on the page reflects that. Most of the minis I've tried to paint end up looking terrible and have long ago given up that frustration in my life. Thus, it would be nice to see the images as the figures will really look.

As the description says, they are unpainted.

What you're seeing right now isn't actually painted—it's the original sculpt for the figure, which in this case is made from a red material. We're expecting to replace it with a photo of the finished product soon.

That said, we do prefer to show painted images wherever possible, because the all-silver unpainted figures generally don't show their detail very well in photographs.

Fixed for you - they tend to show up pretty good in B+W photos

I personally am very excited that Valeros is in an action pose and a more "iconic" pose. This way when painted up as the same character I have two. Plus it would be great if there was also a pose on horse back of the same character.

Otherworld Miniatures plan to have idea coming out but is talking a little time. Richard is right now focussing on the "bad guys" for dungeon adventures. He also recently started a wilderness line as well for "baddies" above ground. His miniatures also apparently have a early DnD feel to them but I can not verify this since I am new to the DnD scene.

At any rate hope all the "iconic" come out with a action pose and a "iconic" standing posture or rather non threatening pose.

Erik gave me one of these and I've been posting updates on the Paizo twitter account. So far:

Harsk based
Harsk primed, with detail drybrush

Be good to get an iconic pose of Harsk as well. This one is a bit, well, specific... It's nice to have the two options for Val and Seoni. Perhaps a strategy to extend to all the iconics?

ok, I have to ask, is that a hood or his hair? I can't quite tell from the pics (both painted and product description ones

It's his hair. From a frontal angle you'd be able to see for sure, and you'd have a clearer view of the ties holding his hair on the right side.

Plus, I painted it to match his beard. ;)

That's actually the only reason I asked, from the angle of the production photo, it looked like a hood to me (just the distance the top was from his head and the flow seemed more fabric than hair to me. and the different strand texture looked like folds in the fabric) It wasn't until I saw your painted version that it clicked that it was most likely his hair.

I ALSO WOULD LIKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUY ONE OF EACH TYPES OF DWARFS. I ALSO REALLY LIKE THE MORE POSED FIGURE WITH CROSSBOW AND WELL ENCUMBERED. I COULD USE A HALF DOZEN OR MORE OF THAT FIGURE BUT AM ONLY GOING TO BUY ONE OF THE CHARGING FIGURE, SINCE HOW OFTEN IN A GAME DO YOU NEED THAT POSE?
I LOVE ALL THE FIGURES SO FAR BUT I HOPE THAT REAPER/PAIZO WILL ALSO TEND TO COPY THE EXCELLENT ILLUSTRATIONS FROM THE BOOKS FOR MOST OF THE FIGURES.

The iconic Ranger uses a two-handed axe?

As his secondary, backup melee weapon. His primary, ranged weapon is a heavy crossbow.

And the iconic Bard is a halfling.

And the iconic Rogue is an elf.

And the iconic Fighter uses TWF and has a high Dex as well as Str

Not every Paizo iconic is the height of RPG tradition.

We've replaced the photo of the sculpt with an image of a painted mini.

Does this mean that we will see a future release of Harsk that is more true to the original art?

Nothing like that is currently on the schedule, but it's not outside the realm of possibility either.
