@LoriB,

You might try JustZipIt unzip software. I couldn't get some downloads to work with the Windows unzip software but I could use this software and it works, and it's free. You might try goggling "JustZipIt" to see if you can find it.

It worked! Thank you!

BEST! SCREEN! EVAR!!!

Seriously. The hardbound book stock is super durable as everyone has said, and the table selection is the best I've ever seen in a screen. The fact that they included the conditions and item hardness/hp is what I personally think is most useful and different from the other screens I've seen.

Though I would have liked the Actions in Combat, I'm glad they didn't put that in since it would take out tables other then just the exp/treasure tables (which I personally don't use in game).

I'm just gonna print out my own actions in combat table, and if I can possibly get it to fit in half a page I'll tape it to the screen. If not, I'll just clip it to it so I can look under it.

The default unzipping utility in some version of Windows has issues with some files. Using an alternate unzipping utility should solve the problem.

I have never had any problems unzipping Paizo files until this one. I have downloaded several other utilities that will not open it either. Do you have a specific one you recommend?

Is there any way Paizo could post an unzipped version of this file into my downloads?

I've had no issues with zips from Paizo using winrar. Works great for most packed files.

This is awesome, I love it. I make game play go by so much smoother.

Another great use I've discovered for the screen is a perch for my webcam (we have one player Skyped into our group); the screen easily holds the webcam which affords a great view of the battle map.

On the good side: great sturdiness, height and width, professional appearance, usefulness of most tables included

On the bad side: would have liked to see the AoO chart included (not the XP and Treasure stuff), and the manga-style artwork (I know I am in the minority opinion here, but the more "cartooney" the artwork looks the more it detracts from a sense of realism in the game)

Overall, nice job, Paizo. I do not regret the $15 price tag at all. :)

I was amazed with product. I had Game master screens from many product and they are just normally flimsy cardboard with a artwork on one side. The table they usually give you are of limited use and they generally space them so that you get much less info. Those screen generally are also on 3 panels.

When I ordered the Pathfinder screen I was expecting much of the same. It's useful but never a great product. Then this product arrived and I was amazed. This is the best screen I've ever had! The quality is is great in how sturdy it is and it's jam packed with charts that I find very useful.

Paizo, you out do yourself it seem with every product. Just makes me want to spend more money.

Robert Billingham wrote:
Excellent screen - very durable, but definitely could have had more fold-outs like the Hackmaster screen ;-).

By Garweeze, I remember that one! The Battle Mode, the charts for quick-made towns and taverns, and we can't forget the Pizza Matrix. All that and more on a good, heavy stock, multi-panel/multi-page screen laminated for ease of use with wet/dry erase markers...WOTC could have taken a lesson there! ;)

Truly -- I finally got mine and it's the most beautiful and sturdiest GM screen I've yet seen! :)

The only minus (as obidavekenobi notes above) is that it's missing the AoO chart (I, too, think that you don't need the XP chart until the end of the session, so it should have been left out).

I like the XP chart. I give out XP after the encounters though. Sometimes my player level up mid game session. But then we play long session every two weeks. Instead of a 4 hour session a week we do an 8 hour session every two weeks. So I like to give the XP out immediately because leveling up sometime needs to happen mid game as the AP requires expect the players to be at certain level by certain points.

As for AoO that's something we don't look up very often. We all have the chart practically memorized.

Amazon is out. Anyone know when they will be restocking?

Paizo Employee (Technical Director)

I've just realized that the main image for this product has long been one grabbed from the middle of the screen itself, and not the one designed for the wrap, with the "GM Screen" text, which is the product's "actual" cover. Fixed.

We have no insight into their processes, but we'll see if we can't ask their distributor to give them a poke.

Actually, we are pretty much out of stock on the first print run. The second print run should be here in late January to early February. We have a few dozen left to sell on paizo.com and then the first print run will be gone.

Btw, for those about to ask, there were no changes to the second print run.

no doubt! it probably should have been called a GM Shield not a screen. This is the most sturdy one I've ever seen.

I literally grabbed mine from the hands of one of the owners of my FLGS -- they had only received one screen, and since I had ordered mine before he did, he had to give it to me (I would have fought him, if he hadn't ;))! And boy, wasn't he disappointed about having to wait for the second print run... :)

It's now early/mid February, any more of a solid date on when we're going to see the Pathfinder GM screen back on store shelves?

Thanks.

When is this going to be back in stock? I usually prefer to buy through my local game store because they let us game there but they haven't been able to get any.

Shadow Lodge (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Companion Subscriber)

I got this as a Valentine's gift and I couldn't be happier! It has most of the things I normally I have to scrounge for in the rulebook printed on it. It's solid, unlike the slimsy ones I have, and if needed can be used to hit problem players in the head hehehehe :)

It may not be as cool as the official one, and its certainly not as sturdy (since its constructed of computer bits lol) but you can try this one until the real deal comes in!

It's a 4-panel landscape-oriented PDF with art on the player side and charts on the GM side. Print and glue to some card-stock and that might do ya for a few weeks till you can get the real deal :)

Any idea when this will be back in stock?

What I wanna know is--who actually would pay that? Is someone that impatient for the next print run?

I'm just glad mine came in a couple weeks ago. No idea that it was going to run out!

It's a gorgeous GM screen. I've noticed as an added bonus since it's hard coverstock, I can sit it in my lap so I can still see the game table and use it as a writing surface for my notes as well.

Most of the information is very useful (everything except the XP and treasure awards, which I don't really need DURING games)--this is the first GM screen I kept checking as I was running a session.

The second print run just arrived today. (It's identical to the first printing.) Attentive retailers should have copies in a couple of weeks at most.

This is really a remarkable screen. Everyone that sees it loves it.

I noticed a typo on mine and I'm not sure if it has been fixed for any newer printings but figured I'd mention it. Knowledge table: ancient is spelled anicent. No big deal, just pointing it out for any future runs if not fixed already.

Quick question...

Is this a Pathfinder-ey 3.5 screen, or is it truly a screen for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game? It appears to be the latter, but I want to make sure before I order it.

It is the latter

I just ordered my screen from Amazon this morning for $10.19. But realized afterwards they are out of stock. So not sure when I will get it.

No big rush at the moment, though. (Except wanting to get my grubby hands on it).

Second printing arrived back in February, yet Amazon (the European branches too) is still out...
I would have ordered it from here, but the shipping costs make it cost prohibitive (since I need 4 screens)...
Anyone else know where it's available for a reasonable price?

The screen has been available to all distributors and retailers since the beginning of this year. We have absolutely no control over who buys it and what they sell it for. But it IS in stock right now.

To me it seems like if you did need four screens it would be better. The cost of shipping spread out over four screens.....

Better than buying one screen and having the cost on that only.

This, along with the core rulebook, is one of the greatest gaming purchases I've ever made. I'm not one for overstatement either.

This is a priceless resource for my table and has save me so(o^10^50) much time while running a crazy bit of sudden combat or remembering what the darn effects do to the PC's stats.

I highly recommend this for anyone new to the Pathfinder game who is lucky enough to stand behind such an accessory and call themselves Game Master (though, good luck getting your players to respect you enough to follow suit). If you are new to the game you're late but very, very welcome.

Can you tell I like the game? ;)

This screen is as good as they come! Paizo if you had the rights to Call of Cthulhu you would be my absolute favorite publisher and my total one stop for all my gaming supplies.

I went to order, thinking shipping wouldn't be much for this product, and to my shock... over ten dollars on shipping and handling.

Seriously, for a product that doesn't weigh that much? That's a bit excessive in my book and it really disappoints me.

I want to support Paizo, but I'm not going to pay an excessive premium on shipping to do it, particularly when I can get it elsewhere for less than half the total price. :\

I don't think I'm going to shell out 25 bucks just for a fancy screen when I can buy it elsewhere for less than half of the total price.

I can't look at your shipping details from home, or see what country you live in... but assuming you live in the US, what's going on here is this:

By itself, the the screen doesn't qualify for the low Bound Printed Matter rate, and it's three ounces over the weight limit for First Class mail, so the two most reasonable choices left within the US are UPS and USPS Priority Mail, neither of which are particularly inexpensive. (UPS rates are based on distance, so if you're close to us, it's usually the cheaper method, but if you're on the East Coast, Priority Mail is probably the cheaper method.)

I do have two suggestions for you, though.

The first is that if you add enough Bound Printed Matter to outweigh the screen, then we can send it by a cheaper method. For example, if I were to ship the Screen to Boston by itself, it would have to go Priority, costing $11.54... but if I add two Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes, then I can ship the whole lot to Boston using Bound Printed Matter rates for $6.54. (This kind of weirdness only applies to domestic shipping. Internationally, the contents don't really matter—just the weight. It's kind of crazy, but it's actually cheaper to ship a screen by itself to Australia than it is to New York.)

The second thing is that if you're currently going Priority and not UPS, odds are good that the rate that has been selected is a Priority Flat Rate Box—or that you're very close to one—and you can add stuff to a Flat Rate Box until it's physically full without having the shipping price go up much, if at all. For example, it costs $11.54 to ship that one screen Priority... but I can ship *ten* screens for just $12.24. (Obviously, you don't want ten screens, but the point is that you could add dice, miniatures, T-shirts, or whatever else, and not see a big increase for a while.)

I'm in Michigan, and selected the cheapest option, which was UPS ground. Appreciate the explanation, Vic. :)

I just looked at one of these in my store, and it said second printing on the back. Are there any differences between the first and second printings?

Nothing substantial enough to release an errata document. We added some legal text to the paper wrapper, and fixed the misspelled word "symbol" on the Knowledge DCs chart.
