Yeah, I made a whole new set. Ben's been flipping me crap for making them all green, but I did make the goblin king kinda aquamarine, which I think looks pretty cool.

There may someday be a second set of goblins, in which case I might spice up the color spectrum a bit.

These products are the best. I check in every few days just to see if you've got any new ones. Simple to make, make as many as you want, and they look great. Much better than metal minis. Way to go.

Well, there were a few pictures in Classic Monsters Revisited and the campaign setting book that made them look more greenish grey than just grey as they appeared in Burnt Offerings.

Excellent timing! I'll be picking these up for sure. My PCs have just finished the initial goblin raid, and (after a short side trek) will be heading into the Catacombs of Wrath and/or the Thistletop Lair next.

The Pathfinder Advantage does NOT apply to non-Paizo PDFs. We don't make very much money on PDFs from other publishers, so can't afford to give the Pathfinder Advantage discount on them. It would basically wipe away all of our profits on selling the minis.

I have never bought paper minis pdf before. Looks good. Only feedback would be it would be great to have a mounted goblin dog. This feeds straight into my RotRL campaign particularly Burnt Offerings.

I hope you continue to provide minis for other AP... particularly RotRL. I will admit I am biased about this. :)

Well, Paizo needs to make money, so I think their cut is about a $1 or so, while the Dev`s (artists) make the rest but hold on. They need to pay taxes on all those earnings...

So $4 is a really good buy for the ability to print and print until you printer runs dry.

Hell these paper mini`s are so cheap when a player lets off a fireball I might just burn them on a pottery plate as an effect!

If I could post a request to the Artists, Could you do 12 (6) men and (6) women of a class for PC`s to pick from. So 12 rangers, 12 paladins etc for players to choose characters from.

Or maybe a race grouping...

I know a lot of the players I play with stick to just a few classes and I think it`s probably true for a lot of players

I have to say that this is quite the ingenious product line, particularly in this economy! It also decreases the environmental impact I'd think since we eliminate shipping, and can print as many or few as we need.

SUGGESTIONS:
* The idea for stock characters based on race is a great idea. Perhaps those downloads could include both full color and line-art-only versions. That way, the players who care can customize their characters with markers, while the DM has quick, ready-made NPCs.
* Once the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary is released, it would be superb if we could get a whole line of these (perhaps bundled by monster type) with a few variations for each creature.
* Is there an RSS feed we can add specifically for this line? (i.e. so we can rack-up on Minis as they are released)
* The instructions might want to mention that the PDF print options should be set to auto-rotate & center with no page scaling. Also, at least on my color laserjet, the results are much better if the user manually specifies that they are using cardstock instead of standard paper.

Dragnmoon wrote:

Xerox Cardstock is what I use both when I print my own business cards and do anything like this. Just make certain you order the cardstock in white (it comes in many colors).

I'm working on making color vs. black and white as a layer option with Adobe Reader (and other PDF readers), but I have to buy the requisite software first. I'm just a guy who got a licensing deal with Paizo, and the current profits are pretty much going towards PaizoCon, with the remainder folding back into the business side of things, but believe me, I want them as much as you do. :D

Laithoron wrote:

That's a work in progress. Obviously, some thing will show up (gnolls, goblinoids, the PC races, etc.), but until I get a complete list of monsters (and some idea of the visual changes to the Paizo versions of monsters- see goblins for example), I'm stuck with what they've covered so far. I do hope to have them all covered some time (with specific racial packs for stuff like goblins where multiple versions of one basic monster are good, and related packs for stuff like certain fey or aberrations where you'll only need one or two versions of a specific monster). All that keeps that happening after I've got a list of monsters is the time to draw them all, and since I'll release sets as I go, hopefully I'll have the must-haves covered quickly enough to make using them in most games a possibility ASAP.

Laithoron wrote:

That would be brilliant, actually. I'll have to look up a way to do that. I do have a Facebook page, and will probably do one for just the minis line shortly; I always upload a link to the new minis there. If you guys have got a Facebook account, search for "Ashton Sperry" and you'll find me. :D

Excellent call on the cardstock; as for glue, I'm using Scotch Quick-Dry Tacky Adhesive at the moment. If you're looking for a spray-on glue, try 3M Spra-Ment.

Basically, you're looking for a glue with a low water content to keep the minis from warping. There's a lot of them out there, but look for glues that mention being good with paper crafts and you're in the right area.

As popular as these seem to be, I'm confident you'll be able to afford Acrobat sooner than you think. I know that with Photoshop, if you have a recent copy of Photoshop Elements (which can be bought on eBay for CHEAP), then you can get away with buying the upgrade version instead of needing to buy the full version. Dunno if there's anything like that for Acrobat...

That's about right, actually. I won't go into the specifics, since they are really boring, but if they go much cheaper there's not much money going to anyone but the credit card companies that run the transactions. I'm trying to make them as cheap as possible so lots of folks can buy them (believe me, I know how tight money can be) and still hopefully make enough to do this full-time.

As Salient mentions, though, the $3.99 price gets you essentially unlimited minis, so if you need a 103 goblins for an adventure for some crazy reason (like you're running Dungeon 108's adventure, "Iron Satyr", for example), you're made in the shade.

Salient wrote:

By all means, do so! Actually, for one-shots, gluing just regular printer paper works well, I've heard (that should save on supplies), and since they're nothing but paper and adhesives, they should got up like Roman candles. :D

Actually, if this happens, send photos. We did a battle in an old campaign years ago that involved a flaming sphere that we later re-enacted with a burning ball of paper. That was rather hilarious.

Salient wrote:

I can work it either by class or by race. I'm leaning towards race for now, but if people prefer class (or generic class archetypes, since not every human fighter is gonna be wearing full plate and wielding a longsword and shield) I can do that. The minis are designed for you guys, after all. We just draw 'em. :P

Basically, for the possible PC minis, I'm hoping on making them somewhat class-generic. For instance, if I did a set of Varisians (a requested set that's top on the list of PC elasticities), I'd do a lot of lightly-armored folks with daggers, rapiers, short swords, and such, plus spellcaster-y looking folks that could work for wizards, sorcerers, Harrow-readers, or anybody who's not obviously heavily armed (but might keep a dagger in their belt while making obscure gestures with their hands).

The hope is to make them as useful as possible, for both GMs and PCs, so a GM can have ready-made villains, and PCs can pick one that fits their race and class most of the time. I might sometime do a set of "oddballs" (Qadirans in full plate, axe-wielding elves, tiefling paladins, and so forth) at some time, if there's demand for such, and if the biz is going off like gangbusters, I might even re-open doing commissions for folks when I can leave the day job.

As always, thoughts, feelings, and requests are encouraged. Don't be afraid to comment; believe me, I read them. :D

You know what would make a great set

Mounted figures just like 12 different mounts with different creatures on them, obviously a human knight on a horse would be one, and a goblin on a goblin dog would be another, but then you could also have a gnome on a riding dog (never actually seen a mounted dog riding mini) etc. etc. and of course an exotic mount or two like a female elf on a unicorn, or a mage on a griffon.

That set would be much needed.

Indeed—anytime you're on a page that lists multiple products, you'll see three RSS feeds at the top of the page—New Products, Upcoming Products, and Top Sellers. (PDFs almost never appear in Upcoming Products lists—those are for items that are up for preorder, and you can't preorder a PDF.)

You'll probably find the New Products feed for Pathfinder Paper Minis the most useful.

Personally speaking I think the idea of paper minis for PC's is a good one, but ultimately you will never be able to create the exact look a PC will want. I do think doing a series based on the Pathfinder line would be really smart.

Pathfinder Adventure Paths are the obvious place to start and I know you've already thinking about that with Varisans, but creating a random set of generic heroes for Legacy of Fire would be really helpful, both for PC's and NPC's.

I think you could also take a look at what kind of characters might show up in Riddleport or Korvosa and create a set based on them.

Then you could look towards the Companion and Chronicle books, the Pathfinder Elves, Darkmoon Vale, Osirian, Katapesh, Cheliax (HellKnights!!) and so forth.

I only say this because you could have a class based set, but a fighter playing Rise of the Runelords would look very different than one playing Legacy of Fire.

Ultimately you have a lot of options to choose from, so have fun and keep us posted.

Also I'm sending you a friend request because I love facebook.

Taldor lastknightleft,

I'm actually gonna come down and say I hope you don't focus on trying to get a line of PC characters out before your monsters and AP specific NPCs, generally useful stuff is great and all, but as the one guy said you're never gonna get the range of PCs which is why you should focus more on specific aplication stuff more than trying to get a pc line out that probably wont have mini's for many many groups.

These look really nice. Now, I have an overabundance of metal and plastic minis, and so haven't purchased any of these yet. But when (if?) you begin releasing the large twisted monsters Paizo has that don't remotely match anything I have in stock I'll be all over 'em!

-DM Jeff

N'wah (Pathfinder Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Pathfinder Companion Subscriber),

Yeah, the plan so far is sets based off the PC races, including human ethnicities. As mentioned before, these sets will be specifically geared towards "standard" equipment for that race or ethnicity (lots of Qadirans with scimitars and falchions, elves with bows and longswords, etc.), and will be geared towards being "class neutral" so they can fill whatever role people might need them for. I'm just getting a feel for what folks are looking for, and so far it looks like that's the popular demand.

And don't worry about secondary sets eating up too much time from the main sets (the APs and the Bestiary stuff). They're the "when I have time or hand them to another artist" sets.

Current sets on the list, aside from the AP and Bestiary ones, are as follows (in no particular order of release):

* Troglodytes a la Hugo
* Varisians
* "Katapeshi Encounters"; basically an supplementary set for "The Jackal's Price"
* Some sort of non-human PC race set (halflings?)

Lemme know if you want to see anything else relatively soon. Also, some RotR-related monsters may be getting sets in a bit (ogres and rune giants are on my wishlist; I'm also interested in trying my hand at stone giants).

They're a-comin', sir. I'm covering the basics for now, but I'll be mixing it up every now and then, and Immora's work on the Bestiary articles from the APs will be chock-full of the weird monsters that can be hard to find minis for.

Well, there won't be a big Bestiary set, if that's what you're looking for, but once I know what's in it, and what they're looking like now, I'll be better able to design minis for them. So expect more delicious monsters to come out as things go on!

These minis were really cool and my PCs loved them. I put together a huge goblin encounter with wave after wave of goblins! It really caught the players off guard to see the different kinds of goblins and to see so many of them. Normally I just cut out little squares and write "goblin" on them with an arrow to show which direction they are facing. This was a really great change of pace. I will definitely be ordering more paper minis products.
